Urban Veda Purifying Facial Oil

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Urban Veda as a source for my skincare. They have gorgeous products that have ingredients that genuinely work all while being under a 20 euro price tag. Recently they’ve expanded their skincare line to include facial oils for each of their specific regimens and I knew I would want to get my hands on one. My skin type tends to range between normal/combo depending on the time of year and so according to their dosha (which is a quiz that you take that tells which of the regimens to use.) I should be using either their Purifying range or their Soothing range. SAM_4144

I decided to give their purifying facial oil ago as I have already tried their cleanser, toner and moisturizer from that regimen and love them completely. I’ve actually already reviewed them on my site so I have added the link to that review below. The purifying facial oil comes in a hefty amber glass bottle and has 30mls of product in it. The oil itself is yellow in colour.

Texture wise I found this oil to be rather thick, however it is not heavy on the skin whatsoever. The thickness of it simply means that in order to get it to be applied evenly over the face and neck you do have to use it alot of product and personally I didn’t like that. I personally found that this oil works better when mixed in with a lighter and more gel textured moisturizer and then applied. It’s a similar technic to the one I use with the Gioventu Natural Vitamin E Oil.

My skin absolutely loves this oil and drinks it up like water. I would recommend you reserve it for use at night as it can feel a bit heavy for day time use.

#PamperWeekend: Urban Veda Purifying Range

#PamperWeekend: Urban Veda Purifying Range

This is going to be part three of the my ongoing series #PamperWeekend where I basically show you all the amazing skincare products that I have been loving recently. Make sure to tweet me using the hashtag all the products you’ve been loving too so that I can get some more inspiration.

A while back go I received a very generous package from the brand Urban Veda which is a brand that newly launched in Ireland back in April. I featured what was in this package over on my Instagram (@SooSoBeauty) but in case you didn’t catch that pic, the package contained a few products from their Purifying range. Urban Veda works by giving you a questionnaire to fill out where it basically ask you questions based on your skin concerns. The results of your questionnaire is then the range you should use from Urban Veda. Because I have normal/combo skin I can use both the Soothing Range and the Purifying. I explain this better in my Urban Veda Launch Event post.

The active ingredient for the Urban Veda purifying range is Neem and this definitely comes across in the facial wash as the scent is one of the nicest things about this product. I have been using this cleanser every single night before going to bed as my night-time cleanser. It’s got a gel formulation to it so it’s perfect for breaking down makeup and making sure the skin feels nice and clean. The gel itself does have a slightly milky green shade to it  and it lathers up beautifully when water is added. The Neem scent I found works a bit like lavender before bed, in that it kinda relaxes me and gets me ready to pop into bed and straight to sleep.

SAM_2905I was also sent the toner from the range and as you guys can expect I have been using this in conjunction with the facial wash. I pop a little of it onto a small cotton pad and give my face a quick swipe all over. I found that this does have a slight tingling effect to it especially when you apply it straight after your facial wash. The scent of it is no where near as strong as the wash either. The consistency is that that of water but because of the packaging and the way the nozzle is set there is no risk of you overloading your cotton pad with too much product.

The last product in my package was the day cream and to be honest this wasn’t my favourite. It’s a good cream don’t get me wrong but I personally found it a bit too thick to use especially for the daytime. As a result I’ve been popping it on straight before bed and because there’s no SPF in it you can use it at night fine.

The cream itself has almost a whipped texture to it and when applied onto the skin it does feel nice and hydrating. It even has a slight cooling sensation to it. My only issue was that it took forever to skin into the skin and like I said because of that I felt it was a bit thick and heavy for me personally. Under makeup, for me, I just ended up super shiny especially in my t-zone where I have oily skin.

I still totally recommend this range especially if you like nice uplifting and slightly herbal scents. I would just pass on the day cream if your not a fan of heavy creams.

🛫 Urban Veda Radiance Travel Set 🛬

I’m going to refer you guys back to my Urban Veda Launch Event blog post as this post is about the lovely travel set that I received in my goodie bag. The travel set has three 50ml bottles of Body Wash, Body Scrub and Body Lotion and they come in a beautiful canvas bag. I think the bag is a nice touch as once your finished with the products you can definitely use it to store other products or like me jewellery. The set that I got is from the Radiance line but you can get the same travel set in the other three ranges as well depending on what scent you prefer and what you think is good for your skin.

Though the bottles look small you do get a good sized amount of product in them. I also found that you really don’t need a lot of it to get the desired effect with each of them. The body wash, I personally only use a pea sized amount. The same goes for the scrub but I use 2 pea sizes, one for each leg (I only use body scrubs on my legs). The body lotion is probably the one that will be used up the fastest.

With regards to the body wash I found it to lather amazingly. The scent of all these bottles is amazing. The key ingredient in the Radiance line from Urban Veda is Turmeric and true to the name this makes the skin brighter and more radiant after use.

The body scrub is probably my favourite item from this set. It has almost a gel like texture to it which makes it very moisturising in my opinion. The actual scrubby pieces aren’t harsh but at the same time they do exfoliate.

The body lotion is probably my least favourite and t’s not because I think it’s not good. It is. The texture is nice and light and I found it to absorb super quick into the skin. My only issue is that it’s scent lingers longer than I would like. The range smells amazing don’t get me wrong it’s just when it comes to body lotion I like the scent of to only be there while I’m applying it and then for it to dissipate. This one doesn’t and I found it to mix in with my perfume which isn’t very pleasant.

The Urban Veda range is available to purchase from all Shaws Department stores here in Ireland and for International readers you guys can get it via their website.

A little “Mini” Review

A while back ago I attended the Urban Veda Launch Event in Shaws Department stores in Waterford City. As part of that event I got given a few products to try out, each from one of their different ranges. Urban Veda has a total of four different ranges, and each range is targeted towards a specific skin concern or type.

The first of the ranges is the Soothing range which is for normal skin types but I personally think it can be used on all skin types. I was given both the Daily Facial Wash and the Exfoliating Facial Polish. Out of the two I would say I much prefer the facial wash. I found it a lot more hydrating on the skin and that it left no residue. The exfoliating polish is nice but I personally found it slightly abrasive on my skin. Also because it has a cream texture it did leave a bit of a residue. If you use the toner from the range after it, it will get rid of the residue but I found that with the facial wash that without having to use the toner I got no residue left behind.

I also received two day creams, and the first one is from their Radiance range which uses Turmeric as the active ingredient in order to brighten the complexion. I have to say I wasn’t the biggest fan of the scent of this moisturiser, it was slightly a bit over powering for me. That said though it is an amazing moisturiser if your looking to get skin looking nice and dewy. This is also a great choice if your looking for a moisturiser for under makeup.

SAM_2924 The second day cream that I got is their Reviving day cream which can be used universally on all skin types. This has roses as it’s active ingredient so you can guess exactly what it’s going to smell like. I personally love rose smelling products so this felt nicer on my skin than the radiance one. The texture of this one is also lighter and a bit more water based than the radiance which has almost a gel texture to it.

On the day I also received the Radiance Travel Set which I shall have a review on soon so stay tuned for that.

Urban Veda Launch Event

Last Saturday I was lucky enough to attend the launch of the new brand Urban Veda here in Waterford in Shaws Department stores. Urban Veda is a natural skincare brand that prides itself on using only organic ingredients to create it’s products. The range consists of four different skin care regimens and each regimen is tailored depending on ones skin type and skin concerns. Each regimen also has it’s own scent and outer packaging colour so that there’s no need to remember the name of the line or the name of the product but just the colour of it.

The event itself was displayed rather neatly in the centre of Shaws Department near the beauty section. The entire range was aligned on the shelves, which each of the different regimens getting it’s own shelf. They looked so pretty and colourful and to be honest the packaging is one of simplest yet eye-catching packaging that I’ve seen from a skincare brand.

Ciara, the Urban Veda representative was present on the day to explain everything that there is to know about the brand itself. She also explained that all of the products can be used on sensitive skin and acne prone skin. The great thing about this range is that it comes with a do it yourself questionnaire that can be filled out in order to allow you to know which range is best suited to your skin type. The Reviving range is the one that can be used universally however it is rose scented and I know not everyone likes rose.

In total there are four ranges. The Radiance range used Tumeric as it’s active ingredient in order to brighten the complexion as it’s a natural anti-oxidant.

The Soothing range uses sandalwood which is an antimicrobial and an antiseptic. The helps greatly with those of us that suffer with dehydrated and sensitive skin.

The Purifying range uses Neem Oil which has cleansing, toning and moisturising properties which is perfect for use on oil skin types.

As I’ve already mentioned the Reviving range can be used on all skin types as it’s a very nourishing range due to the rose flower water that is in it. Ciara said that she personally tends to recommend this line from Urban Veda for those that have mature skin or are tired. I personally think this line would be amazing for those that are just after having a baby. You can even gift basket the whole range and it would make an amazing baby shower gift.

Urban Veda have also released travel sizes of all there products so I’ve want to get them to try the brand before getting the full size. They also have parcels of their products in which you get three full sized products at a slightly lower price point that if you were to buy them individually.

I got given so many samples of the products on the day from the very generous Ciara and I also picked up the Soothing Hydrating Toner myself to try so I will of course have reviews coming up soon for all those products as soon as I’ve given a proper testing.
