Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

These days everybody seems to be in this constant race to review the latest new product launch and while that’s all well and good, it can cause the internet to become slightly over saturated with the same content at the same time. Though I love to try out new products and I have been guilty of marking release dates on my calendar, I do want to take a slight break of sorts from it all to simply step back and review some old favorites that are still purchasable. For today’s post I want to review one of my favorite foundations and that’s Urban Decay’s Naked Skin.

SAM_3545

I purchased this foundation way before there was even talk about the development of the newer version which is the All Nighter Foundation. I still haven’t tried the newer version and that’s simply because I’ve always loved this version. Why fix what isn’t broken?. This foundation comes in clear double glassed acrylic bottle that has 30 mls of product in it. You can clear see the colour of the chosen shade through the bottle and it’s also printed on the base. My shade is 0.5 which is also the lightest in the range.

SAM_3547

The bottle has a pump which automatically gives it major brownie points as I dislike foundations that come in jars or without a pump. The texture of this foundation is very runny and you do have to give it a good shake before use to ensure that the pigments in it are distributed evenly throughout the foundation’s solution.

SAM_3549

On the skin this foundation feels and looks very light, almost like your natural skin minus the spots and pores. Coverage is light but it can definitely be built up to medium with another coat. I did find this foundation to oxidize slightly but that can be fixed by either going a shade lighter, or in my case where there is no lighter, mixing it with a white foundation base.

SAM_3567

Price wise this foundation isn’t cheap. retailing at 34.50 euros but like I said it has lasted me quite a while and there’s still quite a lot of it left at least another 6 months worth. A little of this goes along way thanks to the texture of it, it spreads quite nicely.

UDXBasquiat Masterclass

A while ago I did an overview post on the Urban Decay Summer 2017 Collection which featured their collaboration with the artist Jean Michel Basquiat. Recently I had the great opportunity to attend the masterclass for the release of this collection into Debenhams stores here in Ireland.

Before the masterclass began I got a chance to have a look at all the products up close and take a few swatches of some of them. The collection contains two amazingly pigmented eyeshadow palettes, a blush/highlight/contour palette, three eyeliners and three lipsticks.

The masterclass took place in the Waterford Debenhams store and the makeup artist was the beauty blogger Lisa from the blog CuddlesNContouring. She began the masterclass by showcasing some of the Urban Decay Prep and Prime skincare range in order to remove any makeup that the model had on when she arrived. For the actual makeup look she used the UDXBasquiat Tenant Eyeshadow Palette as the main palette though she did use some shades from the Griot Palette also.

I personally didn’t have a huge interest in the palettes as I already have a lot of palettes in my collection and the colours are very dupable in my opinion. I did however have my eye on the eyeliner in the shade Post Punk which is a very sharp lime yellow shade. This looks absolutely stunning on the waterline with any bright eye makeup look.

Tomorrow I will have an entire blog post up with a full description of the make up she used and the steps she took to achieve the complete makeup look for the masterclass so stay tuned for that. I will share that for the final step of the makeup look however  she did use on the new lip toppers on the lips so I knew I just had to pick up one of them for myself.

The shade that I chose is the shade Fever and this is a stunning crimson cranberry shade with a sharp iridescent glitter running through it. These retail for 18.50 euros a piece. I honestly had an amazing time on the night and the collection is definitely a collectors item, it’s so beautiful.

Urban Decay Vice Lip Effects

Personally I think “Lip effects” is just a fancy way of saying lip topper which is basically what these newly launching lip products from Urban Decay are. There are 12 shades in total and each one has a different and unique colour, and shimmer effect associated with it. These retail at 18 dollars/19 euros a piece and will be available to purchase on the 20th of April here in Ireland. I personally have a huge interest in the shade White Lie which looks very versatile and can be worn over a number of different lip colours.

Urban Decay Summer 2017 Collection

One of my favourite collection releases tends to come every summer from the brand Urban Decay. For those of you who have been following me for awhile you’ll remember that last year I did an entire series of posts based around their 2016 summer collection. I’ll link those posts below in case anyone else would like to read them. This year for their new collection, they’ve teamed up with a very famous painter and artist Jean Michel Basquiat who’s signature look revolves around using graffiti styled art and bright colours. This collection is planned to be released by Urban Decay on the 20th of April.

In case you absolutely love this collection and want to buy it all, they have released a vault of the entire collection, which has every single product in it at a slightly lesser price than if you were to buy it all individually. As far as I know this vault is a online exclusive item, so if you want to get it you’ll have to purchase it via urbandecay.com

Last of the collection is something new for Urban Decay, they’ve released three makeup bags to store all these makeup products in.

Personally for me this collection didn’t really spark any interest except for the bright yellow eye liner so I don’t think I’ll be doing an entire series like I did last year. That said if I do end up going to the masterclass for the release I will of course have a post about it up on the blog.

Urban Decay have gone and done it again! After the success of their previous Vice Lipstick launch where they brought out 100 lipsticks each with a different texture and formulation, they’ve decided to bring out liquid lipstick. Each liquid lipstick has its own formulation and texture much like the regular Vice Lipsticks. Some of them are named after famous eyeshadows and some of them are entirely new shades. They retail for 19 euros a piece and will be available to purchase from today onwards.

“No matter what you’re in the mood for, this limited-edition palette has it all. Experiment with 12 unique shades and ALL SIX finishes of Vice Lipstick in this one set. You’ll never run out of options. Haven’t tried Vice Lipstick yet? The pigment load is insane! Just one swipe provides a BIG laydown of color. Every shade applies smoothly (without dragging or skipping), hugs lips, and feels amazing.”

Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics

I have a huge overview post all about Urban Decay Fall 2016 new releases and that post showcases the new Urban Decay 24hr All nighter foundation and the UD Razor Sharp liners. Today I bring you the soon to be released Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette which has been added to their Naked range of palettes.

3605971263002_nakedultimatebasics_alt3

Now I’m not the biggest fan of their Naked palettes (I know shock horror) I only own the Naked Smoky and that’s because I got it as a wedding gift. This palette is a 12 shade palette that are all matte. As far as I know this palette was a request of the fans of Urban Decay and that’s why an all Matte palette was created.

“There’s only one Naked. And once you go Naked, you’ll never go back. Introducing Naked Ultimate Basics—the matte eyeshadow palette you’ve been begging for. We loaded this sleek square case with 12 ALL-NEW, must-have neutrals.”

  • Blow
  • Nude
  • Commando
  • Tempted
  • Instinct
  • Lethal
  • Pre-Game
  • Extra Bitter

The price of the palette currently retails for 54 dollars, that’s roughly 48 euros making it just as expensive as the regular Naked palettes. The palette is set to be released September the 18th so keep a look out for it if you want it.
