Ocean Bloom Seaweed & Stem Cell Moisturiser

Receiving organic skincare is probably one of the best things in the world in my book as it tends to re-assure me that what I’m putting on my skin is good for it. Recently I received the Ocean Bloom Seaweed & Stem Cell Moisturizer  and have been using it religiously ever since.

SAM_4665

First off the moisturizer itself comes in a beautiful strong acrylic pot which is a bit heavy to travel with but at the same time is secure enough that it definitely won’t break in transit. Inside the acrylic pot you get 50 mls of product and the very first thing I can say about it is that it doesn’t have the most pleasant of scents. That said it is fragrance free so the scent is simply that of the ingredients in it.

SAM_4666

My main issue with this moisturizer really comes from its texture. It’s very thick and heavy feeling on the skin. It’s not uncomfortable in any sense but you do feel it whenever you have it on. It doesn’t work under foundation because of it’s thickness so for days where I wanted to wear makeup I definitely had to choose a different moisturizer. I should also mention that you can’t use this moisturizer as a night one as it does contain an SPF of 25 which in Ireland means it is a great sunscreen for days when you’re good to go barefaced.

SAM_4668

Though the texture of it is heavy and thick it did improve the appearance of the skin brilliantly. I found that any discoloration of my skin from old pimples or spots was gone within two weeks of using it. My skin also felt softer and definitely more plump. To be honest if the texture of this moisturizer was just a bit lighter I would never use anything else except it.

SAM_4670

The moisturizer does retail for 35.50 euros and is available for purchase from the Ocean Bloom website which I have linked below.

Herbalife Skincare

When it comes to skincare, I tend to be a creature of habit and stick to the products that I know and love. This is obvious to anyone who watches my Instastories (@SooSoBeauty) but recently I was contacted by the lovely people who take care of Herbalife Skincare asking me to try out their newly launched skincare line.

SAM_4047

New skincare? Who could say no! I should state for the record that my skin is normal with a slightly oily t-zone in the summer months and only get breakouts if a product doesn’t work for my skin or when it’s my time of the month.

SAM_4048

SAM_4059

The Herbalife Skin Polishing Citrus Cleanser is what is known as a physical exfoliator. It contains small beads made from Jojoba oil which burst when you massage it into your skin while cleansing. I personally loved this cleanser, it made my skin feel really clean without that stripped feeling to it. It was honest surprise because I normally don’t like cleanser that use beads but with these being natural, they were extremely gentle against by skin.

SAM_4050SAM_4051

After cleansing, I always us a toner just to get rid of any residue. For this I’ve been reaching for the Herbalife Skin Energizing Toner which is actually a spritz on toner. I absolutely love that it has a spray on it. It makes it so easy and quick to use. It didn’t sting my skin at all which tells me that there is no crappy ingredients in it like Alcohol and I’ve also found it great for spritzing on over makeup just to refresh it a bit.

SAM_4049

Last product I have is the Herbalife Daily Glow Moisturiser and my word this is probably the best moisturizer I have ever used that works like such an incredible primer as well. It has such a radiance to it as a cream, and this is certainly reflected when you rub it into the skin. It’s so natural looking and your skin simply glows with this moisturiser on. It’s subtle but that said it does still radiant through any foundation you apply over to give you a nice dewy finish.

SAM_4053

I have honestly loved using these products over the past few weeks that I have had them however I need to say I didn’t like the smell of them. I don’t know what it is but them all smell so synthetic. The cleanser has a fake lemon smell to it, the toner smells like fake flowers and the moisturizer like fake soap. If you’re sensitive to smells (pregnant women beware) then I would take caution when trying these out. The smell doesn’t last though, it does fade the minute you move onto the next product in your skincare routine.

SAM_4055

I personally didn’t experience any breakouts with these products and found them all to be very nice to use (bar the smell) and would highly recommend them as an excellant skincare routine for anyone looking for a simple step-by-step process.

Suu Balm Moisturising Cream

Do you ever have times where your skin unfortunately flares up without any reason whatsoever. It just becomes un-believably itchy and irritated and you just want something to calm and cool it down. I think I have the answer! It comes in this little tube of moisturizer called Suu Balm which is a skin balm that is water and glycerin based making it very hydrating and soothing on the skin.

SAM_4061

The texture of this product when you squeeze it out of the tube is like a regular cream though it does have a slight medicated scent to it, similar to Vicks Vapo-Rub. Rubbing it in, causes it to go to an almost water like consistence which takes roughly 2-3 minutes to absorb completely into the skin.

SAM_4063

I personally get irritated skin when I have a bit too much sugar in my system. The sugar causes me to get really itchy on my elbows and arms and I found this a great help in keeping any flare-ups under control. The cream does state that it is safe to use on children but to test it on their skin before going in with a large amount. Also the child has to be over 3 years of age.

The Suu Balm Moisturizer is available from most local pharmacies around Ireland and their website which I have linked below.

#PamperWeekend: L’oreal Hydra Genius Moisturiser

This is going to be part six of the my ongoing series #PamperWeekend where I basically show you all the amazing skincare products that I have been loving recently. Make sure to tweet me using the hashtag all the products you’ve been loving too so that I can get some more inspiration.

I hope everyone has been enjoying my new series so far but you can probably tell from it that I haven’t been having the best of luck with skincare in terms of moisturiser. Both the Urban Veda Purifying Moisturiser and the Environ Avst 1 Moisturiser were too thick for my skin and felt very greasy.

SAM_3309

Recently while browsing the many aisles of Boots, I noticed that L’oreal Paris was after releasing a new moisturiser called Hydra Genius. Now this moisturiser has the words normal/combination skin so I thought it would be great to try out a moisturiser that was specifically designed for my skin type.

SAM_3310

It was probably the best idea I’d ever had as I absolutely love this moisturiser and the way it feels on my skin. The packaging of it is this super sleek and very elegant glass bottle that has a pump dispenser to it. The colour of it is this lovely turquoise blue that is very eye-catching and looks super pretty on ones vanity.

SAM_3313

The texture of this moisturiser is more of a gel than a cream. It uses Aloe Vera Water as it’s main ingredient so you can imagine how cooling and hydrating it is on the skin. You can use this moisturiser both morning and night but I personally have been using it at night instead of the Urban Veda one. The main reason for this is that it does have a slightly tacky feel to it once it dries down which I find really bothersome throughout the day. Asleep I honestly don’t care how it feels as long as there’s no residue in the morning and with this moisturiser there isn’t.

SAM_3315

I highly recommend this moisturiser not just for normal/combo skin but for those who have both dry and oily skin as its so light and refreshing I think it would work for both. Price wise it’s mid range coming in at around 13 euros however I got it with it’s introductory price of 8.49 euros.

#PamperWeekend: Environ Essential Vit A Moisturiser

This is going to be part four of the my ongoing series #PamperWeekend where I basically show you all the amazing skincare products that I have been loving recently. Make sure to tweet me using the hashtag all the products you’ve been loving too so that I can get some more inspiration.

SAM_3316

It’s very rare that I come across a moisturiser that I don’t like simply because I have normal/combo skin so I don’t tend to have major problems with my skin other than the odd breakout (which tends to be hormone related 99% of the time). I’ve found one and it comes in the form of the Environ Essential AVST 1 Moisturiser. This moisturiser claims to be super hydrating on the skin whilst being lightweight. It states that it reduces fine lines and improves the appearance of the skin.

SAM_3318

That’s all good and well but in my opinion and on my skin it didn’t do that. Texture wise this moisturiser was very thick in consistency and I found that it took forever to soak into my skin. It was hydrating but it left behind so much greasy residue when applied that I just didn’t find it pleasant to apply. Under foundation, it turned even the most matte foundation I have into an over-dewy mess making me look like a grease ball at the end of the day.

SAM_3320

This moisturiser does come with a pump so I do give it points for it’s packaging. With regards to the reducing fine lines, I found my little lines around my eyes to still be the same after using this for a month. I recommend if you want a product for that purpose to try out their Environ Youth Essential Eye Gel which I love.

SAM_3323

This product retails for 49 euros and for a price tag that high I personally expected more. Now that I’m finished testing it for this review I don’t find myself reaching for it ever and that just shows me how much this product just didn’t work for me. Maybe dry skin gals may like it 🙂

#PamperWeekend: Urban Veda Purifying Range

This is going to be part three of the my ongoing series #PamperWeekend where I basically show you all the amazing skincare products that I have been loving recently. Make sure to tweet me using the hashtag all the products you’ve been loving too so that I can get some more inspiration.

A while back go I received a very generous package from the brand Urban Veda which is a brand that newly launched in Ireland back in April. I featured what was in this package over on my Instagram (@SooSoBeauty) but in case you didn’t catch that pic, the package contained a few products from their Purifying range. Urban Veda works by giving you a questionnaire to fill out where it basically ask you questions based on your skin concerns. The results of your questionnaire is then the range you should use from Urban Veda. Because I have normal/combo skin I can use both the Soothing Range and the Purifying. I explain this better in my Urban Veda Launch Event post.

SAM_2903

The active ingredient for the Urban Veda purifying range is Neem and this definitely comes across in the facial wash as the scent is one of the nicest things about this product. I have been using this cleanser every single night before going to bed as my night-time cleanser. It’s got a gel formulation to it so it’s perfect for breaking down makeup and making sure the skin feels nice and clean. The gel itself does have a slightly milky green shade to it  and it lathers up beautifully when water is added. The Neem scent I found works a bit like lavender before bed, in that it kinda relaxes me and gets me ready to pop into bed and straight to sleep.

SAM_2905I was also sent the toner from the range and as you guys can expect I have been using this in conjunction with the facial wash. I pop a little of it onto a small cotton pad and give my face a quick swipe all over. I found that this does have a slight tingling effect to it especially when you apply it straight after your facial wash. The scent of it is no where near as strong as the wash either. The consistency is that that of water but because of the packaging and the way the nozzle is set there is no risk of you overloading your cotton pad with too much product.

SAM_2907

The last product in my package was the day cream and to be honest this wasn’t my favourite. It’s a good cream don’t get me wrong but I personally found it a bit too thick to use especially for the daytime. As a result I’ve been popping it on straight before bed and because there’s no SPF in it you can use it at night fine.

SAM_2910

The cream itself has almost a whipped texture to it and when applied onto the skin it does feel nice and hydrating. It even has a slight cooling sensation to it. My only issue was that it took forever to skin into the skin and like I said because of that I felt it was a bit thick and heavy for me personally. Under makeup, for me, I just ended up super shiny especially in my t-zone where I have oily skin.

I still totally recommend this range especially if you like nice uplifting and slightly herbal scents. I would just pass on the day cream if your not a fan of heavy creams.

A little “Mini” Review

A while back ago I attended the Urban Veda Launch Event in Shaws Department stores in Waterford City. As part of that event I got given a few products to try out, each from one of their different ranges. Urban Veda has a total of four different ranges, and each range is targeted towards a specific skin concern or type.

SAM_2926

The first of the ranges is the Soothing range which is for normal skin types but I personally think it can be used on all skin types. I was given both the Daily Facial Wash and the Exfoliating Facial Polish. Out of the two I would say I much prefer the facial wash. I found it a lot more hydrating on the skin and that it left no residue. The exfoliating polish is nice but I personally found it slightly abrasive on my skin. Also because it has a cream texture it did leave a bit of a residue. If you use the toner from the range after it, it will get rid of the residue but I found that with the facial wash that without having to use the toner I got no residue left behind.

SAM_2923

I also received two day creams, and the first one is from their Radiance range which uses Turmeric as the active ingredient in order to brighten the complexion. I have to say I wasn’t the biggest fan of the scent of this moisturiser, it was slightly a bit over powering for me. That said though it is an amazing moisturiser if your looking to get skin looking nice and dewy. This is also a great choice if your looking for a moisturiser for under makeup.

SAM_2924 The second day cream that I got is their Reviving day cream which can be used universally on all skin types. This has roses as it’s active ingredient so you can guess exactly what it’s going to smell like. I personally love rose smelling products so this felt nicer on my skin than the radiance one. The texture of this one is also lighter and a bit more water based than the radiance which has almost a gel texture to it.

On the day I also received the Radiance Travel Set which I shall have a review on soon so stay tuned for that.
