Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara

It’s always such a nice thing to be able to say I found a great mascara at an affordable price point. Why? Because mascara is one of those things that unless you fork out 30 quid you always tend to be slightly disappointed in. It either doesn’t give you enough volume or it does give you enough length and almost always makes you think “that’s not black enough for me”.

As of late I have been trialing the latest mascara launch from the brand Maybelline. This is their Total Temptation mascara and according to the many influencers online it is a direct dupe for the infamous Too Face Better Than Sex mascara. Personally, I have never tried the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara but can say if it’s as good as this mascara than it has my vote of approval.

I absolutely love everything about this mascara from the gorgeous soft blush pink packaging of it’s tube to the epic non-plastic, actual bristles brush of the wand. It gives big, thick and long lashes that are jet black and totally dramatic. Some people might find it a bit much for everyday wear however if you are like me and are looking for a mascara that ticks every box than this is the one for you.

Price wise this mascara retails for 12.99 euros however most drugstore than to pop it in a Maybelline 3 for 2 offer.

Maybelline Dream Satin Foundation & Mist

I find it so hard to find foundations that I like and that actually match my skin tone. I’m pale, and by pale I mean vampire pale so most brands tend to not have my foundation within their range. I have been using those colour correcting drops in white to lightening most of them but it is nice when I can just use the foundation as is without having to add anything to it.

This is exactly what the new Maybelline Dream Satin Foundation does for me. I can pick up the bottle, pump out two pumps, apply it and be done. The match is perfect as it should be seeing as they have released a whopping 22 shades within the range. Major pat on the back to them for that. The shade that I’m using is 03 True Ivory and for once it’s actually not the lightest shade, there are two others before it.

Formulation wise I find this foundation to be quite gel-like in consistency. It’s thick to apply but not heavy whatsoever. It gives really high coverage but I found you can definitely sheer it out with a sponge or if you want it lighter still, add a drop of your fav moisturiser to it and you’ve got the perfect BB Cream. I found the finish of it to be semi-matte. By that I mean it looks and feels matte but it doesn’t make you look flat at all.

Maybelline has also very cleverly released a Dream Satin Mist as a company product to the foundation. The mist has a luminous finish to it so when you spray it over the foundation it makes the foundation have a dewy finish instead of a semi-matte one. I love the sprayer of the bottle, it disperses a really fine mist all over the face. I don’t like the smell of it however, it’s a bit chemically for my tastes but that won’t stop me from using it.

The foundation retails for 12.99 euros and the mist for 10.99 euros but you can definitely find these on a buy one get one half price offer in Boots. That’s certainly how I got them. Let me know what you’re current fav foundation is :0

All of the Maybelline New Releases

Over the past couple of weeks/months I’ve been buying and reviewing a bunch of new releases from Maybelline simply because they seem to be on the ball with all the great stuff their bring out. I personally want to try it all!! And I have, so this post is simply a quick one to direct you guys to all the links for reviews of those products in case you haven’t already read them. I hope you enjoy the read.

Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Paints

Maybelline Bricks Bronzer

Maybelline Master Strobing Stick

Maybelline Master Precise Skinny

There are some of the products I didn’t bother picking up because I know I won’t get the use out of them if I’m honest. They are the following:

  • Maybelline Master Contour Face Stick
  • Maybelline Master Precise Curvy Eyeliner
  • Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Angel Mascara
  • Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks

There are still a ton more coming out but these are the ones I managed to get this year so I think I’ll end with this post. Should I happen to find more of their new releases be sure I will have reviews but they seem to be impossible to find until the new year for now.

Eyeliners, Eyes

Maybelline Master Precise Skinny

To follow on from my never-ending Maybelline purchases of their new releases is their Master Precise Skinny Eyeliner. I think I picked this up when I purchased my Maybelline Master Strobing Stick from Boots and have been using it as my inner waterline eyeliner ever since. The great thing about this liner is that it’s surprisingly inexpensive in comparison to what it actually is.

True to it’s name this pencil has a very small and very precise nib to it that makes it perfect for lining the lower and upper waterline. The actual formula of this pencil is in fact gel, no cream to powder formula here. It’s instead a really intense black gel liner compacted into quite a precise applicator. I love that they create a air-tight lid to the pencil as this stops it from ever drying out. Also the pencil twists up so you never have to worry about whether or not you’ve remember to pack your sharpener.

sam_2051Pigmentation is really rich and intense and though they don’t indicate on the actual pencil whether or not it’s waterproof I found that it does smudge nor flake when it’s on the waterline. The price of this pencil is just 4.95 euros and for a gel liner in a easy to use pencil form that is just a bargain waiting to be discovered.

Maybelline Master Strobing Stick

So many purchases so little time! I keep salivating over the Maybelline Instagram with all their pictures of their new releases. Now some of them aren’t as interesting as others and I won’t be buying all of the new releases but the ones I do I’m definitely reviewing. Today is the Maybelline Strobing Stick turn. This is a cream highlighting stick that comes in two different shades. It’s also knocked all of my other highlighters aside and taken first place.

Straight of the bat I don’t like the packaging but it is very practical even if it’s not pretty to look at. It works by twisting up the highlighter sort of like a lipstick twists up. The stick may look small but you really only need a small amount to get a desired effect with it. This has 9 grams/0.32 oz of product in it and it retails for roughly 8.49 euros.

I’ve seen a lot of videos where people apply this with either their fingertips or straight from the stick. However I’ve found that applying it with a soft dense brush gives the most intense and blended effect on the skin. If your looking for a subtle highlight then this highlighter isn’t for you. It’s really has a strong intense strobed effect when applied.

sam_2044The highlighter, like I said comes in two shades and I personally picked it up in the shade 100 Light-Iridescent. The other shade is in 200 Medium Nude Glow and that shade is more of a deep gold shade compared to the one I got. The shade Light-Iridescent is a gorgeous light pick shade that is just perfect for us that have pale skin. Formulation wise the highlighter is super creamy but once it’s applied and sets it doesn’t budge.

I absolutely love this highlighter and can’t wait to pick up more of the new releases from Maybelline soon.

Face Powders, Highlighter

Maybelline Bricks Bronzer

So I may have mentioned in my review of the Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Paints that I’ve been seeing so many releases from Maybelline online it’s not even funny. The only problem is they take forever to reach here in little ole Ireland. So basically I’m reviewing them as I find them. Today’s winner is the Maybelline NY Bricks Bronzer

Packaging is boring as hell, simple plastic compact. The only fancy thing about it is that it’s rose gold in colour. I like that the lid is see through so that you can see the product through the packaging. The shade that I have is 01 Blondes and it’s , as far as I know, the only shade that this product comes. The fact that is has 01 in front of it’s name though indicates that Maybelline might be working on darker shades to be released in the future but don’t quote me on that.

Inside the palette you get a very generous amount of bronzer and a not so generous amount of highlighter which drives me crazy about this palette because I love the highlighter more than I love the bronzer.

That being said the bronzer isn’t bad, it’s got a great buttery formulation that is super smooth when applied and the pigmentation is pigmented enough that you get something applied onto the skin but it’s not too pigmented that you get an over load of product. As Goldilocks once said …It’s just right.

The real star of this palette though is the highlighter! You can see fro the palette that it is very similar to the Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks (I’ve never owned them but I have swatched them and I think this is nicer) The pigmentation on these is so beautiful and rich and super glowy on the skin. This is the highlighter for you if you’re looking for the JLO Glow.

My only complaint is that I wish there was more of the highlighter in the palette because I’m going to run out of the highlighter and still have a ton of the bronzer let 😦 other than that it’s a great new product from Maybelline and I can’t wait to get my hands on the other new releases they bring out. Oh this retailed for 8.49 euros and I got mine from Boots as always

Lip Products

Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Paints

I was planning on doing a new releases post based solely on Maybelline because they have so many new products on the market this month it’s actually insane. The only problem with that is that I live in Ireland and so most new releases reach us when they aren’t so new *sigh*. Scratching that plan I’ve decided I would just review these new releases as I find them and so today I bring you a review of the Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Paints.

SAM_1893Now these did take me a while to find and that’s mostly because they have a different name in the US. The are called Color Jolts in the US and I had assumed that they were called the same here in Ireland. They’re not, here in Ireland they have named them colour Drama for some reason. Anyway I picked up two of these because Boots was having a buy one get second half price offer so I said why not. The first shade that I got is 110 Never Bare

This is a gorgeous your lips but better colour, especially if you have a lot of natural pigmentation in your lips like I do. I really like the packaging of this lip paints even though they look small. You get 6.4 mls of product in the tube and my favourite thing about them the sponge applicator. Yes it’s very similar to the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfectors applicator but I still think it was a good idea that they copied them.

Because the product is quite thick in formulation I think the sponge applicator enables you to apply the right amount of product without getting a thick layer of product onto the lips, which can be quite uncomfortable to wear espically with the darker shades. Speaking of darker shades the second that I got is 370 Vamped Up.

True to the name this is a really intense deep purple shade that looks really vampy when applied onto the lips. Pigmentation is a little bit sheer but if you apply a lip liner under it you should be fine.

As far as I know these cost me 7.99 euros a piece but because of the offer I managed to get them for less than 15 euros. I bought these in Boots but I think you can get anywhere that sells Maybelline at this point.
