New in BarryM

BarryM Cosmetics has got to be one of the most price friendly brands in the drugstore. Their products don’t reach anything over 10 euros and most of the time they tend to have a three for two offer going on. For the summer they’ve really been launching some great products into their line and I’ve managed to pick of a few to show you guys.

SAM_3136

First up is their new Flawless Hydro Fix Primer Water which, lets be honest, is a direct dupe for the Smashbox Primer Water. I have to say I’m a huge fan of this product. Your meant to use it in place of your typical primer but I personally use it in conjunction. I apply on my primer and then mist a light layer of this over it. It’s basically making your primer last longer so in turn your primer makes your makeup last longer.

SAM_3138The actual mister on the bottle is great too, it doesn’t splatter nor spritz. It disperses the primer water in a nice light mist evenly over the face. The only real thing I didn’t like about this product was it’s smell. It does have a slight chemically waif to it. Also if you use this to wet an eyeshadow it does work but you have to work super fast at blending because once the shadow sets ain’t nothing gonna make it move.

SAM_3139

Liquid highlighters are probably my favourite thing ever to mix in with foundation for that dewy summer look. The Light Me Up! liquid highlighter from BarryM is a great one to use for that because it doesn’t have any chunky glitter in it. It’s very similar in consistence to the L’oreal True Match Liquid Highlighters that I still love and use.

SAM_3189

Though it looks super dark in the bottle, it does come out more of a rose gold shade and when mixed with your foundation it gives you a nice sunkissed effect to your complexion. Again I only have one issue with this product and that’s that you don’t get a whole lot of it, and because I mix it with my foundation I know I’m going to be going through it super quick.

SAM_3142

Ever since seeing swatches of this palette on Instagram I simply knew I needed it in my life. The Cosmic Lights palette comes with six beautiful shades of highlighter, four a cream formulation and two are powder. It also has a cute little mirror in the lid so extra brownie points for that.

SAM_3144

Packaging wise it really isn’t the greatest. It comes in cardboard that feels like it’s gonna fall apart or rip at any second. That said the actual product is amazing. All of the cream formulations are nice and creamy to apply. They don’t have the highest intensity nor pigmentation but that’s to be expected as the idea of this palette is to layer the powder highlights over the creams. The powders are super soft too and they have great pigmentation which makes them a dream to blend.

BarryM wouldn’t be BarryM without a nail polish collection launch now would they. And they sure didn’t disappoint by releasing 5 new shades to add to their Molten Metals line. I picked up four of these shades but I won’t be saying anything about them here as I’m planning on doing a separate review for them with swatches of all of them on my actual nails so stay tuned.

SAM_3140

Those are all the new products that I’ve picked up recently from BarryM though I’m sure those weren’t their only new launches. Let me know in comments if you’ve gotten anything new even if it’s not BarryM, it’ll give me an excuse to pop into Boots 🙂

Clinique Johnathon Alder Collection

Seeing images online of this collection literally had me wishing for blistering summer heat, of course for the past 3 days we’ve had in Ireland (shocking I know) and I’ve barely survived it because it was just too hot! But I digress, this collection still remains stunning and it has captured the elements of summer perfectly all whilst teaming up with celebrity stylist and designer Johnathon Alder. This collection is limited edition and is available now on most Clinique counters.

Artistry Event

Back at the start of June I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Artistry Press Event up in Dublin at the Morrissons Hotel. This event was a chance for us bloggers to get to know a bit more about the brand and also to be introduced to some new launching products from them. I am no stranger to the brand Artistry and if you’ve been reading my blog for a while you would have seen multiple reviews on their products but I shall of course link them below for any new readers.

The event as I said took place in the Morrissons Hotel which is located on the Ormond Quay in Dublin City Centre. The event to be an outdoorsy BBQ style type of thing but living in Ireland we where blessed with rain on the day and so everything had to be moved indoors.

There were tons of amazing treats on the day including non-alcoholic mocktails, finger-food and ICE-CREAM! Yes they had an actual ice-cream cart with over 7 different flavours to choose from.

20170601_192657

After a bit of mingling, we were taking into the demonstration room where the skincare expert from the brand took us through a step by step facial using some of the key products from the line like their cleansing, eye gel and moisturiser.

20170601_193534

Then the model was given a full natural glam look by the makeup artist Nikki Baker who was amazing at showing use little tricks to achieve the quick look.

The day was overall incredible and now I’m even more excited about the products coming to the Artistry brand in the future. All of Artistry’s products can be purchased directly from Amway’s website.

Makeup Tools

BrushWorks Multi-Tasking Sponge

After being hooked on The Makeup Gallery sponge for so long and then trying out the Basic Beauty Tools Superdry Sponge and finding it amazingly good, I’m officially on the biggest hunt ever to try every single brands sponge I can get my hands on. Recently I was kindly sent this Brushworks Multi-Tasking Sponge to try and test out and to be honest I think I have found another favourite.

SAM_3052When I first saw this sponge I automatically thought Real Techniques Miracle Sculpting Sponge dupe but this in all honesty is so much better. It expands more when it’s wet and is softer to use. The main thing I like about this sponge is that it’s got two different sized points to it. The smaller side I found great for applying my concealer and the bigger I simply use to apply my foundation. The rounded edges of it is amazing for any buffing out you may want to do.

Probably my most favourite thing about this sponge is that it’s great for buffing out any cream highlighters over powders/foundations, lessen the chances of it becoming cakey. Brushworks sponges are available to purchase from Tesco’s and sometimes I can find them in TKMaxx Stores.

🍭 🍬 PS…Eye Candy 🍭 🍬

Primark/Pennys have done it again, they’ve hit the nail on the head with the amazing new release of their Eye Candy collection which is available in all stores now. I was planning on doing a simple overview post on the collection but when I saw the actual products instores I couldn’t not pick up a few of the pieces to try out.

SAM_3149

The star of the collection has got to be the nine pan eyeshadow palette. Upon initial glance at the palette you would immediately compare the packaging to the BHCosmetics ShaaanXO Palette or to Kylie Cosmetics. Personally I thin Primark/Pennys could have afforded to pop a mirror into it but overall I like the bright bubblegum pink that they used as the colour for the scheme of the collection.

SAM_3209

Like I said this palette comes with nine eyeshadows, six are matte and three are shimmers. The mattes are super soft and smooth and blend out perfectly. I will say the shimmers are more pigmented and pack more of a punch on the eyes when applied.

SAM_3211

SAM_3213

The palette is very cool toned when it comes to the shades of the actual shadows. Colour range wise it has one base lid shade ad 3 really good shades for using as transitional colours. The shimmers are amazing for packing onto the lid. You don’t even need to use all of the colours as a single shade looks beautiful all on it’s own.

SAM_3148

As part of this collection they also released three pigments. I have to admit I don’t like these as much as I like the palette. The colours are absolutely beautiful and they swatch gorgeously on the back of my hand. My only issue is that when I go to blend this pigment out after packing it on, the shimmer tends to disappear and it’s really the shimmer that makes this pigment unique.

SAM_3207

The pigment retails for 2.50 euros and the palette for 6 euros so their both bargains. The collection also has three new shades of matte lippies and a face kit.

Collections

Provocative by Catrice

A while back ago I did a huge overview post about the Provo Catrice [Limited Edition] collection and recently I was lucky enough to be sent some bits from it. This collection really brings together a lot of the trending makeup that’s popular nowadays, such as softly lined eyes and softly stained lips. I personally absolutely love this collection as it’s so beautifully designed in packaging and the quality of these products is just incredible especially considering that most of these are less than 6 euros.

SAM_3098

If your thinking of just getting one item from this collection then I highly recommend you pick up just the eye palette C01 Une Touche ProvoCATRICE. This palette has four beautiful shades and one eyeliner shade. The only real drawback of it is that there is no mirror, a mirror in my opinion would have made it the perfect palette for travelling.

SAM_3100

All of the shades are super neutral but highly pigmented. You get two matte shades (Shade 1 & 4) and two shimmer shades (Shade 2 & 3). My favourite has got to be shade 2 which is a gorgeous dual-chrome gold/peach reflect shade. For the eyeliner shade I highly recommend wetting your brush with a bit of setting spray or MAC Fix Plus before dipping into it, as applying it dry I found it to go on slightly patchy.

Ever since discovering the wonderful blushes that are the Isadora Perfect Blush I’ve been slightly hooked on blush so when I saw that there were Ombré blushes in this collection my excitement was through the roof.

SAM_3103

Rightfully so, these blushes are absolutely a dream to put onto the cheeks. They’ve got amazing colour payoff and blend beautifully without clinging to any patchiness on the face. I have both shades from the range and the first of them is the lighter of the two.

SAM_3104

This is the shade C01 Raspberry Belle and is a lovely soft pink shade. Both of these blushes have very fine shimmer in them but that simply adds a healthy glow to cheeks when their applied.

SAM_3175

My only real warning about these blushes is that there is a lot of powder kickback when your dipping your brush into the powder. I highly recommend you tap off the excess ofthe brush before blending them onto your cheeks. Out of the two shades I have been personally reaching for the darker of the two, C02 Berry Bow

SAM_3106

This shade is a deeper richer version of the first blush even though looking at them in the pans they look completely different. On the cheeks though the are the exact same except this shade is just that hint more dark.

SAM_3177

This next product I actually purchased myself as I wanted to be able to review the entire makeup part of the collection for you guys (I didn’t get any of the nail polishes because I’m waiting for their Iconic Nails to launch-overview post coming soon!).

SAM_3107

This is the highlighter of the collection, though it sure doesn’t look that way. They’ve marketed it as a scented powder and yes it does have a nice subtle scent of cotton candy to it. I personally would compare this to the S&G Glow All Out powder which is a shimmery powder that can really be applied all over the skin to give you a slight dewy look to the skin. Oily skin people stay away from this product it isn’t your friend but for everyone else, go ahead it’s so beautiful. The shade is called C01 Transparent Shimmer.

SAM_3112

Lashes seem to be getting just bigger and bigger and I’ve seen some people rocking fake eyelashes just to go to work. Now I’m not as glamourous as that but I do like me a good strong eye look with mega lashes to complete it. This product will definitely help to achieve that. This is the Volume Lash Dust in the shade C01 IrresistibleEyes and it’s basically a translucent powder in brush-on form.

SAM_3113

I’ve seen Youtuber Melissa Alatorre apply to her first coat of mascara translucent powder, leaving it to dry and then going in with a second coat and they simply look Va Va Voom! This does the exact same thing. It’s simply easier and less messy to use. It has a  sponge tip to it that I really wish looked like an actual mascara wand but instead it’s just flat. I would say this isn’t the greatest product to use if you wear contacts as it could get on them.

SAM_3108

No makeup collection is complete without a few good lip products and this collection is no different. Keeping on the softly stained lips, this collection brings two gorgeous shades of Cushion Powder Lipsticks. These are lipsticks which are in powder form and are applied via a sponge tip.

SAM_3111

The actual lipstick comes in the lid of the product and you simply twist off the lid to apply with the sponge tip. I have to say these aren’t the easiest lipstick to apply because of the sponge being so soft and big. It tends to make getting a precise application very difficult. That said, the pigmentation of these is beautiful and they feel like velvet on the lips.

SAM_3179

The two shades are C01 Raspberry Belle and C02 Berry Bow and yes they do have the same names as the blushes 🙂 totally not a typo on my behalf.

SAM_3185

This collection, like I’ve said is limited edition and is available I would say up until the first few days of July so I highly recommend you pick it up as soon as possible if you’ve seen something you like.

Eyes, Lip Products

Essence Live.Laugh.Celebrate! 🎊 🎉

“Live.Laugh.Celebrate!” are the three words Essence Cosmetics has used to describe and name their latest limited edition collection. This collection is very much centred around having party fun and they’ve released it in honour of Essence Cosmetics turning 15 years old. I honestly can’t believe it’s been around so long, though it makes sense as I still remember buying their lipglosses as a teenager.

SAM_3120

The collection itself is very basic as they’ve chosen to release it in their singles format. This means you simply buy the main product which is the empty 4 or 8 slotted palettes and fill them with the many limited edition shades of eyeshadows, lip powders and blushes. The pans are super inexpensive as the pricing of them ranges between 1.90-2.50 euros. I personally love the palettes as they’ve got the coolest cover on them, they have moveable beads in the cover and it’s super cute and fun to shake.

SAM_3122

The great thing about this collection is that you don’t have to stick with the pans that have been released for it, you can of course choose shades from their permanent “My Must Haves” range. For my palette, I have 2 eyeshadows, a lip base and a lip powder.

SAM_3124

SAM_3153

The eyeshadows as you know if you’ve read my Essence SS17 review are some of the nicest shadows I have in my collection. They are super creamy and highly pigmented. This first shade that I have is called 03 Life is Beautiful and is a nice silvery white that I’m sure would look amazing as an inner corner highlight as well as a cupid’s bow highlight shade.

SAM_3131SAM_3157

The second eyeshadow that I have is called 06 Celebrate Good Times and is this gorgeous intense lilac purple. This shade also has a very unique dual-chrome effect to it in that there is a slight blueish sheen to it when the light reflects off of it. Personally I found this shade to have better blendablity than the first shadow. It’s also less chalky so I definitely recommend you swatch these in stores before choosing which ones to get.

SAM_3129

The last two slots of my palette are dedicated to lips. Now this is my first time trying out the lip pans from Essence and to be honest it’s very much love hate for me. Before I get into what I love and hate though let me explain how these work. You need to pick up the lip base (above-shade 01 Let’s get it started) and a lip powder in your desired colour. You apply the base first which creates almost a sheer gloss on the lips for the lip powder, which goes on top to adhere too.

SAM_3127 I love the colours that Essence has as part of this concept. The gloss is super hydrating and feels moisturising on the lips. It also slightly fills in the lines of the lips so it can definitely be used as a lip primer for other lipsticks. The powder, though a bit patchy, with a bit of work applies with nice colour payoff and it doesn’t feel drying on the lips which surprised me, seeing as it’s a powder I thought it would be.

SAM_3160

My only real issue with the lip products is that you need both. You can’t for example buy the lip powder and apply it over a regular lip balm. I’ve tired, it simply balls up on the lips and goes on a complete patchy mess. Also, and this is just me personally, why bother going through two steps to get an amazing colour on the lips when I can just achieve that with a single swipe of lipstick. If your ok with the extra step and the extra product than I will say these are good, it’s just that you can’t buy one without the other.

I should mention that the shade I have in the lip powder is 01 Crush on You! This collection is available up until mid June so if it has sparked your interest I would say go out and get it while you can 🙂
