Whenever someone asks me “what’s your favourite lipstick?” my reply will always be MAC Russian Red lipstick. The main reason is because this lipstick is the one that I chose for my big day, my wedding. I think when someone chooses something for their wedding then in their eyes that product or item is perfect for them and that’s exactly how I feel about this lipstick.
Like 90% of MAC lipsticks it has the very iconic bullet shaped design for it’s outer packaging as it’s lipstick tube. The lipstick itself is one of MAC’s Matte formulated lipsticks and true to the formulation name, this lipstick has not a single bit of a shine to it whatsoever once it’s applied on the lips. In fact it’s so matte that it can be borderline drying on the lips if worn excessively.
I tend to avoid wearing this on a day to day basis instead reserving it for those special occasions when I want a true red. Also when I do want to wear it, I make sure to exfoliate my lips before hand with a lip scrub like the Primark Beauty: PS..PRO Lip Scrub and then applying a good hydrating lip balm or lip mask. My favourite lip mask is the Nugg Beauty: Lip Mask.
I think what makes this lipstick so special is the colour of it. It’s the most intense and flawless red shade that seems to falter almost every single skin tone that wears it. I say this is my favourite lipstick but I’m not alone in that statement. This lipstick is a favourite of a lot of makeup artist’s and beauty bloggers also.
Would you rock this red shade? If not let me know in the comments below what your fav MAC Lipstick is 🙂
This is going to be my final post for LOV Cosmetics for the moment, I will of course be reviewing more of their products in the future. This post is gonna focus on some of their lip products the first of which is their lip liner in the shade 541 100% Grazia
My love for this lip liner has no end as it’s simply one of the best that I have ever used. My favourites have always been the Isadora Lip Liners which I reviewed in my Lipliner 💋 over Lipstick 💄 post and since trying this out I’m very much have popped it at the same level as those.
The formulation of it is super smooth and application which it glides on the lips like butter. It also has a handy brush applicator at the end that can be used for soften the line after you’ve applied it. Pigmentation is nice and opaque. The only really downfall of this product is that it does transfer because of it’s creamy formulation but that beats it drying the hell out of my lips that’s for sure.
With lip liner comes a matching lipstick and I have mine in the shade 541 Grazia’s Bordeaux which is a nice intense burgundy red shade that really reminds me of old movies when it’s on the lips.
Much like it’s lip liner the formulation of itis super creamy and soft. It applies beautifully on the lips without dragging and without grabbing onto any dry patches.
Last lip product that I have is the LOV Cosmetics LOVlicious lip gloss which to be quite honest I did not like whatsoever. The formulation of it is very sticky on the lips to the point where if you apply to much at any point you get that stringing effect between the lips.
The applicator is nice and is able to provide enough product on it to ensure that you can cover your entire lips but because of it’s shape it offers no precise whatsoever. Over lipstick it can be considered to be opaque but on it’s own the coverage just isn’t quite there.
I hope you guys enjoyed all these posts and reviews on LOV Cosmetics. I have certainly loved trying out and using the products and highly recommend them and the brand itself.

As you can probably guess from the title of this post, this is going to be a review of my very first dupe product. Now for those who don’t know what a dupe is, let me clarify. A dupe, is a product that is similar to a higher end product and enables the user to achieve the same effect as the higher end product at a lesser price tag. It is not meant to be a rip-off or a copycat. Those are not dupes, those are just brands stealing ideas from other brands.
My dupe comes from the land of Primark/Pennys and is a much less expensive version of the very hyped about Too Faced Unicorn Tears Lipstick. The hype around this product is because it’s actually a blue lipstick that applies to the lips to give a really holographic popping pink shade. It’s very similar to those PH lipsticks that are green in colour and then become a soft pink.
Primark’s version is called Pixie Kisses and it’s also a blue lipstick. Upon comparasion between the two lippies (via online images) I noticed that the Too Faced version doesn’t have obvious glitter particles in it like the Primark one does. It has more of a purple iridescent sheen running through it. The Primark one doesn’t have that sheen, instead it has small tiny silver glitter particles.
Though the glitter is there it doesn’t cause any chunky feeling on the lips. The formulation of this lipstick is very hydrating and moisturising and applies on very nicely without any patchiness. I found the pigmentation of it to be brilliant to and when comparing the shade of pink it has to online pics of the Too Faced version this one is slightly more pink toned in colour whereas that one is more of a purple-blue shade.
The Too Faced lipstick as far as I know retails for 21.78 euros whereas the Primark one is only 2 euros. Big difference me thinks. I personally have enjoyed wearing this lipstick a lot as I found it to be very faltering on the lips. The only issue I have with and I don’t know if this is the same with the Too Faced version as I don’t own it, is the smell of this lipstick is seriously unpleasant. It has a very sweet sickly scent to it almost like bubblegum.
I don’t know if this is going to be a limited edition product from Primark but they are selling out like hot cakes from stores so if you want one I say go go go!
A while back I did an overview post about the Flormar Future Historical collection that they brought out at the start of February. I promised you guys that that post was just a sneak peak and that I would definitely be trying to get my hands on some of the products from the limited edition collection. My luck did not disappoint and I have managed to get the Anti-Blemish Foundation and one shade of the New Age Liquid Lipsticks. I’ve been trying them out and playing with them throughout February and I think it’s about time I share my thoughts on them.
Let’s start off with the foundation as it’s probably the best product from the collection. It’s main claim is that it’s Anti-Blemish and being bold enough to put it into the name means it has to be. I myself don’t have any major problems with my skin so I can’t really test out this claim however I have found this foundation to be super high coverage, long lasting and it did not break me out what so ever.
The bottle is glass and comes with a pump to dispense the 30mls of product that it contains. Initially the foundation comes out a shade lighter than your own skin tone but then as you blend it re-adjusts slightly to the right shade. The foundation retailed I think for 11.95 euro and I got mine in the shade 03 Light Ivory
Also from the range I picked up one of their New Age Matte Liquid Lipsticks in the shade 06 Seductive Cherry. Formulation of this lippie is oh my god insanely good! It applies on very thinly yet even and automatically dries down to a nice velvet matte finish that isn’t drying and completely transfer proof.
It has your typical doe-foot applicator which I’ll be honest, I found a bit big for getting a nice shape to the lips. Would have preferred a more curved applicator similar to the YSL Glossy Lips applicator. This retailed for 7.95 euros which in comparison to most liquid lipsticks is really affordable.
The shade that I got is the darkest from the range and to be quick frank the most popular. The collection is still available but I’ve found that in most retailers that have it this shade is completely sold out. It’s a nice cranberry red liquid lipstick that lies between a burgundy and a bright red so it really gives you that old vintage red lip that was worn back in the days of the black and white movies.
If you want to see what else is available in the collection than I highly recommend reading my overview post about the collection, Flormar Future Historical. Like I said the collection is still available but it’s selling out fast so get a move on it if you like anything from the release.
Love is in the air! Especially with Valentine’s Day coming up next month. Nothing inspires the idea of love more than the city of Paris and it seems the creative mind of Lisa Eldridge has that same thinking. Being Lancôme’s creative director, she’s designed their new Spring Collection all around the Parisian City itself. This collection is so beautiful that I would want to own these products simply to display them. The colours she’s chosen for the collection are very pastel shades and perfect for getting that spring, fresh look to the skin. Have a look at the collection and let me know if your going to run out and buy the highlighter like me 😉

Vincent Longo is a makeup artist who decided to create his own makeup brand back in 1995 and to be frank the product that I’m going to be reviewing today brings back a few reminiscent memories for me. Vincent Longo Thinstick Lipstick has magically managed to remind me of my childhood days when mom would whip out her Revlon Colourstay Lipstick and apply it on her lips before heading to the door to meet and greet friends. I may have been a child but I was still mesmerized by the intense red colour that it had produced with one single swipe.
Let’s start this review off by looking at packaging and just to get it out of the way it’s very similar to the old Revlon Colourstay ones. This one is just a bit thicker and shorter. I love that they used black as a colour as it allows the lipstick so have that slim chic design to the outer package. The logo is written beautifully across the tube in turquoise lettering.
The shade that I have is called London and it is very much similar to the red that Londoners use to paint their Buses. The formulation of this can be considered sheer but if you apply several layers you can get a lovely deep shade. Pigmentation is brilliant even though it’s sheer and I totally recommend using it over filled lined lips. On the lips the colour is super shiny and moisturising. I also found it nice and light on the lips but I will say that it doesn’t have the lasting power of a matte formulation.
It does need to be re-applied as soon as you eat which is why I recommend wearing liner underneath it. This is very much a great product for the summer months especially when you want to have that fresh clean look to your makeup look.

I can’t believe we’re already in December and only a few days away is Christmas. I’ve already begun to notice that people are getting more and more shopping crazy and that the stores are getting busier and more crowded as the days pass. It can be difficult knowing what to get your friends and family but that’s why I think this post should help anyone who has a person in their life who loves makeup. I’m going to be showing you everything that Youngblood Cosmetics are going to be bring out for Christmas.
Contouring is a trend that has hit the cosmetics industry hard and by hard I mean every brand under the sun wants to get in on it with their product. The star for this year has got to be the SoSueMe by Suzanne Jackson contouring palette but because that’s in such high demand it can be a tad bit hard to find. Youngblood Cosmetics has their version, and even though it’s a little bit more expensive (coming in at 43 euros) than the SoSueMe one it’s comparably similar.
“An all essential palette to shade and highlight like a professional, whilst incorporating the additional skin nurturing benefits of mineral make-up.”
If your looking to purchase for someone whose just starting out in makeup than this kit should fit the bill. The Youngblood Purely the Basics kit contains everything that a person could need for their first experience with makeup. As an added benefit it’s all mineral makeup, meaning they aren’t clogging their young healthy skin with bad ingredients that can be in some less expensive kits. This kit comes in at a price of 42.50 euros and contains a total of 4 full sized products.
“This kit gives you everything you nee in order to achieve a flawless look without clogging pores and flaring up acne including mineral foundation, mineral rice setting powder, crushed mineral blush and a kabuki blending brush.”
A kit that goes great with the one I just featured is the Youngblood Whiplash Mascara Set as no look is completed without a bit of mascara. This retails for 35 euros but the great thing about it is that your getting a lash primer in the kit as well as a mascara so you know that whoever receives this will have incredible looking lashes.
“Our whiplash mascara set includes a mineral lash primer and our signature mascara. Perfect for an eye-catching look.”
One of the best presents to give and receive during Christmas is a good quality brush set especially because buying brushes individually these days can be a bit expensive. Youngblood have decided to put together a 6 piece brush set in a handy travel case that contains almost everything brush wise that you would need to create an entire face. Price is 40 euros.
“Made from the highest-grade natural and synthetic materials, this brush set can be used to sculpt, bronze and complete any look on the go!
Everybody loves a good lipstick/eyeshadow for the holidays and I personally think they make the best stocking stuffer. These lippies and eyeshadows may be a little bit pricey but their formulation cannot be doubted on how good it is. Best to give something that will be used and loved.
Intimatte Lipsticks (19.50 euros each) “Formulated with emollients and vitamin E, the luxurious lipsticks will give you a beautiful matte look that will last for hours.”
Pressed Eyeshadow Duos(25 euros each) “Our pressed eye shadow duo’s come in four dazzling shades, Virtue, Graceful, Charismatic and Desire. These colours which come in matte and shimmery shades are perfect for a party ready look this season!
