L.O.V. FatalMuse Liquid Matte Lipstick

It’s no secret on this blog that I am a huge fan of L.O.V. Cosmetics seeing as last month I did an entire three part series simply reviewing their products. I shall link those posts below in the case any of you didn’t catch them or are new to my blog. For today’s post I’m focusing on a newer release of theirs and that’s their FatalMuse Liquid Matte Lipsticks.

SAM_3656

Whenever I hear the word Matte in liquid lipsticks I’m automatically turned off because I have this instinctive fear that it’s going to be super drying on the lips and I tend to prefer my lips to be hydrated (with the exception of when I want to wear my M.A.C Russian Red Lipstick). These are not drying whatsoever, they are actually really smooth on the lips and set almost with a velvet finish. Pigmentation of them is intense with a high colour payoff.

SAM_3657

The applicator is nice and thin making it possible for you to initially go around your lips with it to outline them before filling them in completely with the flattened side of it. I have two shades out of the ten available and both of them I love completely because they’re nice vampy shades that are perfect for the coming fall months.

SAM_3758

The first of the two shades that I have is No. 770 Extrovert which is a nice berry shade with a slight red undertone to it. I found these to last roughly 8 hours on my lips without touch ups and through non-greasy food. With gresy food however they do tend to break down slightly because of the oil.

SAM_3756

The second shade that I have is No. 780 Bold Attitude which is a nice cranberry shade and out of the two I definitely gravitate towards this one more. Layering wise these don’t cake especially if you stick to nice thin coats when applying it. That said because these are so opaque you really shouldn’t need more than one swipe.

Some Love 💓 for L.O.V Cosmetics PT•3

This is going to be my final post for LOV Cosmetics for the moment, I will of course be reviewing more of their products in the future. This post is gonna focus on some of their lip products the first of which is their lip liner in the shade 541 100% Grazia

SAM_3401

My love for this lip liner has no end as it’s simply one of the best that I have ever used. My favourites have always been the Isadora Lip Liners which I reviewed in my Lipliner 💋 over Lipstick 💄 post and since trying this out I’m very much have popped it at the same level as those.

SAM_3445

The formulation of it is super smooth and application which it glides on the lips like butter. It also has a handy brush applicator at the end that can be used for soften the line after you’ve applied it. Pigmentation is nice and opaque. The only really downfall of this product is that it does transfer because of it’s creamy formulation but that beats it drying the hell out of my lips that’s for sure.

SAM_3390

With lip liner comes a matching lipstick and I have mine in the shade 541 Grazia’s Bordeaux which is a nice intense burgundy red shade that really reminds me of old movies when it’s on the lips.

SAM_3461

Much like it’s lip liner the formulation of it is super creamy and soft. It applies beautifully on the lips without dragging and without grabbing onto any dry patches.

SAM_3397

Last lip product that I have is the LOV Cosmetics LOVlicious lip gloss which to be quite honest I did not like whatsoever. The formulation of it is very sticky on the lips to the point where if you apply to much at any point you get that stringing effect between the lips.

SAM_3398

The applicator is nice and is able to provide enough product on it to ensure that you can cover your entire lips but because of it’s shape it offers no precise whatsoever. Over lipstick it can be considered to be opaque but on it’s own the coverage just isn’t quite there.

SAM_3463

I hope you guys enjoyed all these posts and reviews on LOV Cosmetics. I have certainly loved trying out and using the products and highly recommend them and the brand itself.

My First Dupe!

As you can probably guess from the title of this post, this is going to be a review of my very first dupe product. Now for those who don’t know what a dupe is, let me clarify. A dupe, is a product that is similar to a higher end product and enables the user to achieve the same effect as the higher end product at a lesser price tag. It is not meant to be a rip-off or a copycat. Those are not dupes, those are just brands stealing ideas from other brands.

SAM_2912

My dupe comes from the land of Primark/Pennys and is a much less expensive version of the very hyped about Too Faced Unicorn Tears Lipstick. The hype around this product is because it’s actually a blue lipstick that applies to the lips to give a really holographic popping pink shade. It’s very similar to those PH lipsticks that are green in colour and then become a soft pink.

SAM_2914

Primark’s version is called Pixie Kisses and it’s also a blue lipstick. Upon comparasion between the two lippies (via online images) I noticed that the Too Faced version doesn’t have obvious glitter particles in it like the Primark one does. It has more of a purple iridescent sheen running through it. The Primark one doesn’t have that sheen, instead it has small tiny silver glitter particles.

SAM_2916

Though the glitter is there it doesn’t cause any chunky feeling on the lips. The formulation of this lipstick is very hydrating and moisturising and applies on very nicely without any patchiness. I found the pigmentation of it to be brilliant to and when comparing the shade of pink it has to online pics of the Too Faced version this one is slightly more pink toned in colour whereas that one is more of a purple-blue shade.

SAM_2929

The Too Faced lipstick as far as I know retails for 21.78 euros whereas the Primark one is only 2 euros. Big difference me thinks. I personally have enjoyed wearing this lipstick a lot as I found it to be very faltering on the lips. The only issue I have with and I don’t know if this is the same with the Too Faced version as I don’t own it, is the smell of this lipstick is seriously unpleasant. It has a very sweet sickly scent to it almost like bubblegum.

I don’t know if this is going to be a limited edition product from Primark but they are selling out like hot cakes from stores so if you want one I say go go go!

Lipliner 💋 over Lipstick 💄

When it comes to choosing what to pop on my lips after my makeup look is complete, I almost always reach for a lipstick. Lipstick for me has what I’m looking for, high pigmentation, instant colour and of course there is nothing better that using a strong lipstick for that statement look. Now normally I’m not one to line my lips, I tend to find most lipliners hard and very waxy when it comes to their application.

SAM_2692

Isadora Sculpting Lipliners are not the same! They are retractable lipliners, that have the most creamy and pigmented formulation I’ve seen from a lipliner (and that includes the ones from Urban Decay). I’ve actually been using these because of their formulation and longevity in place of my lipsticks and just filling my entire lip with just the liner itself.

SAM_2700

I have four shades from the range and to be honest it’s been extremely hard to choose a favourite. That being said I do have a favourite and it’s the shade 68 Rum Raisin. Like I said I’m a lover of a statement lip and this helps me get that without giving me sore chapped lips the next day. These do have a matte formula but they are non-drying on the lips.

SAM_2768

I’ve also found them to be transfer resistant as well and they don’t fade or rub off after eating (with the exception of really greasy foods but every lip product goes with that kind of food). The shade 68 Plum Raisin is a gorgeous deep vampy purple shade that is very similar to both MAC Smoked Purple and Urban Decay’s Blackmail lipsticks.

SAM_2698

The other strong shade that I have from the range is the shade 64 True Red and as the name states this is very much a classic Marilyn Monroe red. I love combining this with a simple cat eye flick for that typical Hollywood glamour look. These liners do come sharpened but I guess the only real flaw in their packaging would be the fact that they don’t have a built in sharpener at the base of them.

SAM_2766

Speaking of packaging I really like how they made the lids the same colour as the corresponding shade of the lip liner. I know myself if I have more than the same kind of lipstick I always pop the wrong top onto the lipstick.

SAM_2696

Moving on to more of a neutral shade, 52 Praline is a gorgeous slight red undertoned brown nude. Though it may not look it in the packaging this is very much a great shade for achieving the very on trend Kylie Jenner brown lip look.

SAM_2772

It’s also very versatile in that it’s great as a low maintenance work shade, an interview shade. Because the formulation of these are so creamy and soft, they go onto the lips in less than a minute so it’s more that possible to pop on these before the school run with a splash of mascara.

SAM_2694

The final shade that I have is the shade 22 Nude Rose and this is probably the one that I have least reached for out of the four. The formulation is the same as the others and the pigmentation, longevity, everything. It’s simply because I don’t like to wear pink anything, and this shade on the lips gives you that old English Rose pink velvet lip look.

SAM_2770

I personally have been loving these lip liners, been wearing them everyday that I wear makeup. I do wish they had more than the standard 0.3 grams that you get in a lipliner simply because of their creamy formulation they tend to get used up rather fast. Retail price for these is 10.50 euros which is reasonable in my opinion considering I think of them as lipsticks rather than lipliners.

What’s your favourite? Lipstick or lipliner? or both? I feel like it’s a never ending question and the answer is never the same even from two best friends.

Artistry Light Up Lipgloss

2016 was definitely a year of liquid lipsticks and the trend is still going strong for the year 2017. Artistry Cosmetics however have decided they’ve had enough of the trend and to be quite frank so have I. Liquid lipsticks can be very drying on the lips and not all the formulations are good making them rather expensive seeing as you have to buy the high-end ones to get a good formulation. With the release of the Light Up Lip Glosses, Artistry Cosmetics has reignited my love for the traditional sticky texture of glosses.

sam_2517

The most unique thing about these glosses has got to be their packaging. Each of  the lipglosses comes in an acrylic tube that has the words Artistry in gold written across them.

sam_2518

The lid is a chic black and when it’s opened, it contains 2 led lights that allow you to light up your lips when applying the lipgloss. The idea behind this is that you would be able to reapply your lippie even in the dark.

sam_2524

The tube also has a mirror on the back of it meaning you don’t need to pack a separate mirror. The applicator itself is your basic doe-foot applicator and it dispenses just the right amount of product onto the lips.

sam_2523

These lipglosses come in two formulations, shimmer and glossy and to be honest I have to say I prefer the glossy formulation of out of the two.

sam_2557

Now that’s not to say the formulation of the shimmers is bad, in fact they’re just as good as the glossy. They have actual shimmer in them, so none of that chunky glitter. They feel really smooth on the lips and the best thing is that you don’t feel the shimmer particles when its on either. I have the shade Sweet Melon in the shimmer formulation.

sam_2515

The great thing about the glossy formulation is that you can expect high shine when they’re applied. I have  to say these glosses aren’t just tints they have actual pigmentation to them. I personally love layering this shade Real Red over the Vincent Longo Thinstick Lipstick and the Essence Cosmetics Lipliner that I featured in the Essence We Are post I did recently.

sam_2559

These lipglosses retail for 25 euros a piece, which isn’t cheap but for the fact that the packaging lights up and that they have great pigmentation it’s expected. If I was to compare the formulation to a lower priced lipgloss I would recommend the No7 Lip Glosses but these don’t have the horrible scent that those have.

Ruth’s Natural Skincare LipBalms

Is it me or is the weather getting colder and colder these days? I’m finding the temperature dropping day by day and to be quite frank my lips are feeling it too. I’ve been for the past few weeks since I got them been using the Ruth’s Natural Skincare lip-balms and to be honest if it wasn’t for them I  would propably have the sorest lips ever. I was generously given these lip balms by Ruth herself who is such an inspiration woman in that she started up her own cosmetics business and is selling only natural handmade products.

sam_2296

All of these lip balms have the same basic twist-up white tube packaging. It’s convenient, simple and easy to use. They’re also light enough and small enough to fit into any clutch or handbag. Sometimes the lip-balms that come in jars may look beautiful but they’re a nuisance to take on the go. The different flavours/scents of the lip-balms is the only thing that’s different on each tube. Each scent/flavour has it’s own colour and that how you differ between them.

sam_2297

These lip-balms have one of the nicest formulations that I’ve used in awhile. The texture of them is just right in that they have the right amount of slip to them to be applied evenly on the lips but at the same time they don’t go sliding all over the mouth. They would be considered very satin like on the lips. They also have just the right amount of matiness to them that they can be used under lipsticks and liquid lipsticks without changing the finish of the lipstick itself.

sam_2298

These lip-balms fully moisturise the lips and help them maintain hydration. I normally have the problem where if I get a new lip-balm, it works the first few times on my lips and them it stops having an effect and my lips revert to being chapped. I didn’t find this happening with these lip-balms. They’ve honestly gotten me through the entire month of December without any flaky, chapped lips 🙂

sam_2299

The five flavours/scents are as follows:

  • Lavender
  • Lemon
  • Patchouli
  • Peppermint
  • Natural

If you have really sensitive skin I recommend staying away from any of the fragranced ones and sticking to the natural. My personal favourites are the Lavender and Lemon. The Peppermint one is lovely but it does create a slight tingly effect on the lips on initial application. My least favourite is the Patchouli, I simply didn’t like the scent but the balm itself is still lovely to use.

sam_2300

All of these products are available to purchase in various pharmacies and health stores around Ireland. If you want to find a stockist near you I recommend you check out Ruth’s website (linked below) which lists all the available stockist on it.

Labello Lip Balm

My oh my it’s been quite while since I’ve used a typical chapstick lip balm for my lips. These days with all the fancy lip masks and high end hydrating lipglosses we tend to forget what made all those products available to use in the first place. The most iconic lip balms from my childhood have got to be Vaseline, Nivea and of course the star of today’s post Labello.

sam_2254

As a fun twist for the Christmas months Labello has brought out it’s original formula lip balm in six fun neon coloured packaged tubes. At first I didn’t really get this concept but after reading the press release I think it’s a great idea and way more brands should do it. It’s a lot more fun to pull out a brightly coloured tube of lip balm or even a matching lip balm coloured to match your outfit at all the Christmas Parties that tend to happen this time of year. There’s nothing nicer than having pretty packaging and sometimes to get that you need to buy a different product all together.

image001

The colour that I was sent is this love bright Neon Yellow tube which I absolutely love! Everywhere I go that I whip this out I get questions as to what it is. People just aren’t used to seeing such brightly coloured packaging for a simply tube of lip balm. The other colours available are Neon Pink, Green, Purple, Blue and Orange. The most cool thing about them is that they glow under UV light! So make sure to take these with you to any nightclubs you go to over Christmas ;).

sam_2255

Formulation wise it’s still the same as it’s always been, slightly hydrating with a slight slip for a comfortable feel  for the lips. It’s gone as soon as you eat or drink but that just means you can pull it back out to re-apply! These retail for a simple 2.50 euros so if your in the market for a new lip balm why not have fun with it. These are limited edition though so keep an eye out if interested.
