Clarins KISS Lipbalm

So it’s been about a minute since I last blogged anything on this website and the reason for this is because I was away on holidays. Most of the blog posts that were posts were pre-scheduled as I knew I wouldn’t really have access to internet while I was away. That said I’m back now and ready to get back into the swing of things with some new blog posts. Any requests leave them in the comments below.

With me being on holidays in the very hot country that is Lebanon, I ended up suffering from very dehydrated lips. My saviour as always came from the incredible brand that is Clarins Skincare. It’s very typical of me whenever I have something bothering my lips to head straight for the Clarins counter because I know their products work. Their Lip Oil is one of my favourite product ever and would have worked wonders had I remembered to pack it.

Instead of purchasing something I already knew I had back home I decided to take a chance and picked up their new KISS Lipbalm. This come in a cardboard tube with very cute and fun loveheart and kisses popped all over it. The lipbalm itself is amazingly hydrating and develops a slight pink tint as it reacts to the pH of the lips.

At only 14 euros a price tag I highly recommend this for anyone thinking of a new purchase from Clarins or even just needing a new lipbalm. It’s honestly the only thing that saved my lips over the summer. I also managed to pick up all three of their new Instant Light Lip Perfectors which I shall have a review of soon enough so stay tuned!

Essence “& the Lovely Little Things” Trend Edition

I’m a little bit late with this trend edition this month as I was away on holidays when it launched mid August but as far as I know it’s still available until the end of September. This trend edition is called “& the lovely little things” and it’s  capsule collection of three eyeshadow palettes, 2 lip balms, 4 nail polishes, nail file, nail stickers and a gorgeous contour, blush and highlight palette. The only thing I don’t have from the collection for this review today is the nail polishes but I will insert HD Images at the end just so you guys can see the colours available.

Lets start with my favourite from the collection and that’s the lip balms. Both of these lip balms are the exact formulation wise. They only differ with their scents and outer packaging. The pink tube is called 01…& you smile and it has a strawberry scent to it while the peach one is called 02…& we kissed and you guessed it, it has a peach scent to it.

The formulation of these lip balms is absolutely lovely. Very hydrating and just the right amount of slip to them for them to go onto the lips smoothly. Out of the two I personally have been using the pink one but only because I prefer the scent of strawberries over peaches. Highly recommend these as they are very handbag friendly and great for on the go.

For the eyes, this collection has three different eyeshadow palettes. Each palette has seven shadows and a brush/sponge applicator. They all don’t have a mirror because the lids have cute designs added to them. Personally I would have liked a slide out mirror from the bottom but that’s only because I think all eyeshadow palettes should come with a mirror.

Two of the three palettes would be considered on the warmer side of things colour wise. They have very neutral and earthy tones as their eyeshadow shades. The texture of the shadows in all of the palettes is buttery soft but I did find the some of the lighter shades barely had any pigmentation to the point where I had to swatch them using the sponge applicator in order for me to show you the colour of it.

The matte shades are also more powdery than the shimmer shades but to be honest on the eyes both formulations blend out beautifully and last quite a good while on the eyes. The first of the palettes is called 01…& my BFF on the phone and it has 6 matte shades and one shimmer shade.

The second palette is called 02…& the love story with my wardrobe. It has 6 shimmery shades and one matte shade.

Last palette is probably what would be called the smoky palette from the collection and it’s called 03…& our secret date at midnight. Eyeshadow wise it has three mattes and four shimmers.

This collection does contain a face palette and it’s called 01…& my crazy family. This palette has two gorgeous blush shades, two highlighters and two contouring shades. I love everything bar the contouring shades.

Formulation and texture wise all of them are super soft and smooth, with minimum powder kickback. My issue with the contour shades is that they’re just a tad bit warm for using as contour, they’re more suited as bronzers but other than that it’s very much a gorgeous palette.

The final products from the collection are all nail products and they include a cute double side nail file which is excellent at filing nails, some nail stickers which you have the option of using either on your nails or to enhance the packaging of the palettes by popping them on and four beautiful shades of nail polish which I’ve added HD Images of below.

Let me know what your favourite product is from the collection 🙂

Labello Lip Balm

My oh my it’s been quite while since I’ve used a typical chapstick lip balm for my lips. These days with all the fancy lip masks and high end hydrating lipglosses we tend to forget what made all those products available to use in the first place. The most iconic lip balms from my childhood have got to be Vaseline, Nivea and of course the star of today’s post Labello.

As a fun twist for the Christmas months Labello has brought out it’s original formula lip balm in six fun neon coloured packaged tubes. At first I didn’t really get this concept but after reading the press release I think it’s a great idea and way more brands should do it. It’s a lot more fun to pull out a brightly coloured tube of lip balm or even a matching lip balm coloured to match your outfit at all the Christmas Parties that tend to happen this time of year. There’s nothing nicer than having pretty packaging and sometimes to get that you need to buy a different product all together.

The colour that I was sent is this love bright Neon Yellow tube which I absolutely love! Everywhere I go that I whip this out I get questions as to what it is. People just aren’t used to seeing such brightly coloured packaging for a simply tube of lip balm. The other colours available are Neon Pink, Green, Purple, Blue and Orange. The most cool thing about them is that they glow under UV light! So make sure to take these with you to any nightclubs you go to over Christmas ;).

Formulation wise it’s still the same as it’s always been, slightly hydrating with a slight slip for a comfortable feel  for the lips. It’s gone as soon as you eat or drink but that just means you can pull it back out to re-apply! These retail for a simple 2.50 euros so if your in the market for a new lip balm why not have fun with it. These are limited edition though so keep an eye out if interested.

No7 Beauty Buys

Boots No7 is great for providing vouchers for getting money of makeup. I, myself had a 6.50 euros off any skincare voucher and a 4 euros off any cosmetics voucher. They tend to do these vouchers as handouts every few months whenever you buy anything from Boots. To top things off this month they were giving away a small goodie box with any two cosmetic purchases! So I thought …why not 😉 we just need an excuse right haha!

For my 6.50 euros voucher off I had to get a skincare item. I’m currently quite happy with my skincare routine (comment if you would like me to do a post) so I didn’t need any new cleanser or day creams. Instead I picked up the No7 Protect & Perfect Lip Care. This is basically a very intensive treatment for your lips. I tend to get very dry and dehydrated lips from the sun so I thought this would be perfect for the summer months.

“This rich conditioning balm boosts moisture for 24 hours, leaving you with softer, healthier looking lips. Contains Lipopeptides to help smooth away lip roughness and our patent pending antioxidant complex to help protect your lips from the environment”

You get 10 mls of product in the tube (.33 oz) and this retails full price for 14 euros but I managed to pick it up for 7.50 euros because of the voucher. It has a lipgloss tube and the product itself is very much like a cream for the lips. Claims to be hypo-allergenic however this product does have a heavy scent to it so I wouldn’t recommend if your sensitive to fragrance.SAM_1160

Cosmetics wise I only got one thing for a myself and the other thing was for mom so I’m not including that in this post. I got the No7 Airbrush Away Foundation in the shade Calico which I believe is the lightest shade you can pick up in the stores. I’m going to have a full review of this product up on the blog as soon as I can because I personally think it deserves it’s own post.

In the goodie bag (it’s technically a box :P) I got three deluxe sized samples of permanent range products and one full sized. The first is a small 5ml tube of the No7 BB Lips Beauty Balm in the shade Coral Blush which I already have a full size of. I actually own two of these in case you guys are looking for a review of them…let me know 🙂 x

I also got a sample of the No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Facial Sun Protection which is basically a face moisturiser with SPF 15 added into it for sun protection. To be honest its a very low factor in my opinion considering it’s designed for sun protection. I personally think they should have made the SPF at least a 30.

Last of the samples is of the No7 Extreme Length Waterproof Mascara in the shade Black. I’m actually glad I got this because I’m currently running out of my holy grail Estee Lauder Extreme Sumptuous Mascara and have been wanting the try a new one before of course repurchasing the Estee Lauder one. I don’t know how I’m going to get on with this mascara because I don’t like plastic wands I prefer bristles but I’ll update you guys on twitter on how I get on (@SooSoBeauty)

Last product in the box is actually a full sized item. It’s the No7 Stay Perfect Metallic Eye Pencil in the shade Purple. I actually also own this pencil so this will be passed on to a friend or mom if the colour interests her. I do like the formulation of these liners but I   wouldn’t say their the best on the market (Urban Decay and Rimmel do way better) but they’re ok if you want something middle range.

I will definitely be doing a review on the Airbrush Away Foundation but if you guys are interested in a review on anything else let me know in the comments below.
