Phyto ‘Phytoelixir’ Hair Oil

Hair Care is something I really struggle with when it comes to writing reviews about it on my blog simply because I am never truly loyal to a single haircare brand long enough for me to see a significant difference in my hair. Recently however I won a massive hamper containing a bunch of Phyto Haircare products and since then I have been using them non-stop so expect to see a bunch of upcoming posts from me about their products.

The product that I’m featuring for today’s post is the Phyto PhytoElixir which is basically their version of a hair oil. I absolutely love everything about this product, from the packaging to the actual oil itself. The packaging is gorgeous 75ml glass bottle that is see-through, meaning you can totally see when you’re going to run out. It has a pump dispenser which gives it even more brownie points as I’ve always found pipette droppers messy when it comes to oils.

The oil itself is actually a nice texture as it’s got that dry feeling to it so it really doesn’t make your hair feel greasy at all. Once you rub it into the ends of your hair, it soaks almost instantly and completely hydrates any brittleness the hair may have. As an added bonus it also smells amazing and though it says use twice a week, I’ve been using it everyday in morning and my hair has been loving it.

Let me know what you use to take care of your hair and keep it in good condition 🙂 any excuse to try new products!

Phil Smith Be Gorgeous De-tangling Brush

I think the most hyped about de-tangling brush in the beauty community has got to be the Tangle Teezer and it holds that title rightly so as every few months they release limited edition designs printed onto their brushes. I own a Tangle Teezer and I did reach a point where I could not be without it. Many companies have tried (some better than others) to create a dupe version but none in my opinion have succeed until now. The success comes from the incredible haircare brand Phil Smith who I have featured before on my blog in my Phil Smith Be Gorgeous blog post.

Phil Smith as a brand have brought out this de-tangling brush which can be used on both wet and dry hair. The brush itself has a typical brush shape in that you have your handle with the head that contains a soft cushion that holds the bristles. The bristles really are what make this brush unique. They are plastic and waved in shaped , the wave according to the Phil Smith brand are designed so that the brush glides through the hair gently and easily whilst removing any tangled hair at the same time.

I personally found this brush a dream to use. I typically have fine hair that does tend to fall straight anyway but when it’s damp, at the roots especially, it can become quite knotted together and this brush allows me to brush through that painlessly.

The only annoying thing about this brush is that because of the bristles being in a waved shape, they are the  hardest thing ever to clean and remove any fallout that the hair has from them. But I personally love everything about this brush, the design of it, the bright rainbow colours and the way it glides through my hair painlessly regardless of whether its wet or dry.

This brush retails for on 5 pounds and is available from Sainburys in the UK and Northern of Ireland. It is also available via the Phil Smith website which I have linked below also.

#PamperWeekend: Ko•To•Ha London

This is going to be part five of the my ongoing series #PamperWeekend where I basically show you all the amazing skincare products that I have been loving recently. Make sure to tweet me using the hashtag all the products you’ve been loving too so that I can get some more inspiration.

Ko•To•Ha London is a relatively new skincare brand that has only really been on the market for roughly two years. It’s a natural organic brand which means it only uses natural based ingredients in it’s products. Most of it’s ingredients are herbal and are obtained via the far east.  For me, this is the first time I’ve ever tried anything from this brand and I thought it would be a good idea to include it as part of my #PamperWeekend series as some of these products are absolutely amazing to use.

These first two products are actually hair products in that they are shampoo and conditioner. I have to say these are probably my favourite products out of the ones I own. Both the shampoo and conditioner use Tsubaki and Argan Oil as their active ingredients. The shampoo has a very oil like consistency to it, that if I’m honest had me worried at first that it would cause my hair to get oily too quickly after washing but it doesn’t. Instead it’s actually very hydrating and nourishing for the scalp. Because of it’s texture it doesn’t lather as much as other shampoos but the lather it does create is sufficient enough to clean the hair. I also found that my hair looked a lot more shiny afterwards and I think that’s probably because of the Argan Oil in it.

The matching conditioner has a completely different texture and consistency to it in that it’s more like your average cream conditioner. I only ever use conditioner on the ends of my hair as applying it to the scalp causes my hair to get oily the very next day (normally I get oily on 3rd day hair). I like this conditioner and I think it works great with the shampoo, I just don’t think it’s anything special. The shampoo is definitely something unique to this brand but the conditioner for me, I found comparable to your basic conditioner that you can get from your local supermarket.

The Moist Water from Ko•To•Ha London has a very misleading name to it in that I was expecting this to be a water spray similar to the Caudalie Hydrating Mist or La Roche Posay Zerosinc but it’s actual a toner. Probably the nastiest smelling toner I’ve ever used too but that said my skin absolutely loves this stuff. It’s so cooling and whenever I wipe it across my skin it absorbs almost instantly like my skin is craving for another swipe. I’ve actually decanted some of this into a little spray bottle and have taken to misting my face with it throughout the day because it’s just that good.

SAM_3256As a beauty junkie I am a huge fan of serums as they can be sometimes doubled up as primers under foundation. The Ko•To•Ha London Rejuvenation Serum is a great example of that. It has the consistency of milky water and when it’s rubbed into the skin it creates a lovely hydrating tacky surface that is perfect for layering your foundation/bb cream/tinted moisturiser over it.

Last product from this brand is probably the only one I didn’t like and it’s their Olive and Coconut hand cream. This is a very very very thick hand cream and one I would only subject to using at night directly before bed. I would have been okay with doing that if it wasn’t for the super over powering smell of it. It smells of olives as you can guess but it’s a very artificial scent that just didn’t work for me so this product, for me anyways, is a pass.

From this brand I would definitely have to say that both the shampoo and the moist water toner are must haves and I totally recommend them. The conditioner and the serum I also love but I think both these products can be found in other brands and possibly with a lower price tag.

Klorane Dry Shampoo

Sometimes I’m lazy! I know that’s a weird statement of fact to use to start of this blog but it’s true and I’m sure I’m not the only one. My laziness can result in me not doing the laundry, not bothering to cook and beauty wise, skimping on the washing of my hair. For days like those my hero product has got to be dry shampoo! I’m generally a creature of habit when it comes to dry shampoo and use brands I know, like Batiste and Aussie but recently I was sent a new dry shampoo by the brand Klorane and have been trying it out since I got it.

Klorane have three different types of dry shampoo within their range. I was sent two, and the first of them is their original version. This is an amazing dry shampoo. It feels super light-weight when sprayed into the hair and it leaves absolutely no white powder or residue behind. I found that it refreshed my hair within minutes of me spraying it in.

I personally know when I’m going to be too lazy to wash my hair the next day, so I tend to spray dry shampoo into my hair right before I go to sleep so it can soak up the oils overnight. This worked even better with that technic though if you forget it still gives you fresh hair in the morning. I found it worked great on second day hair and third day hair but after that you really do need to stop being lazy! 😅 .

The second version of their dry shampoo that Klorane sent me is their Natural Teint version. This dry shampoo has a peach/flesh coloured tint to it so that when it’s sprayed onto the roots it simply blends in with the scalp. I personally didn’t like this version nor did I get it, because they have a clear version why bother with a tinted one. Also the powder of the tint was really hard to get blended in with the scalp. It still worked the same in freshen up the hair as the clear version it just had a horrible powder to it.

Klorane also have a dry shampoo for those of us who have a super oily scalp and I will link it below, as well as linking where you can purchase these dry shampoos as I highly recommend them.

Phil Smith Be Gorgeous

For those of you who have never heard of Phil Smith, he is a very famous hairdresser who has worked on many celebrity heads including UK Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan. His past work was mostly with the brand Toni & Guy which is a haircare brand I absolutely love because their products are so good. So when I was sent products from Phil Smith’s hair line called Be Gorgeous I was super excited as I knew the products were going to be just as good if not better.

They didn’t disappoint! Beginning with the Be Gorgeous Curly Locks Shampoo, which is a shampoo aimed towards frizz prone hair. I know the title has the word curly in it so you would automatically think it’s just for girls with curly hair but no it’s just for frizz prone hair. This shampoo has a really nice texture to it that lathers sufficiently well. I found my hair to be quite lightweight afterwards and there was no sense of  heavy product within my hair. Also my hair remained frizz free throughout every rain cloud that passed and that’s saying something because I live in Ireland where it rains every time someone sneezes. I should mention I have long hair that’s poker straight and only gets frizz in the rain or humidity.

To go with the shampoo, I’ve been using the Hello Moisture Conditioning Treatment which is an amazing moisturising conditioner. This conditioner I found had quite a thick texture and you really don’t need to use a lot of it because of that. It has an amazing citrus smell to it, that does linger in the hair. As a conditioner it’s mostly aimed towards dry, frizzy hair so it works great with the Curly Locks Shampoo. A match made in haircare heaven as we say.

My favourite product out of the four I was sent has definitely got to be the Super Smooth Keratin Spray. The instructions on this do state to use it on slightly damp hair and then style but personally I use this almost every single day, first thing in the morning. It’s great for smoothing away any fly-aways that can happen when doing a hair style and because it has keratin in it I know that I’m still using something that’s going to add a lot of benefit to my hair.

The last product that I have is the Glam Shine Serum which is a finishing product that is used to add texture and shine to the hair. It has a very thick and very glossy texture to it, that can also feel sticky to the touch but that goes away once it’s been worked into the hair. This is great for the ends of the hair in my opinion. I wouldn’t recommend using this on hair that hasn’t been washed longer than 2 days as it will cause it to look greasy rather than shiny. Caution should also be taken with the amount used on freshly clean hair as using to much can also cause that very greasy look to happen.

These products are priced between 3.50 pounds and 4 pounds making them extremely affordable. All Phil Smith Be Gorgeous products are available to purchase from Sainsbury’s Stores.

Tesco Beauty Haul

Tesco isn’t a place where I would normally go beauty shopping, I tend to do that in Boots. Tesco is more of the weekly shop type of place when it comes to me however I was recently browsing their many aisles and to my pleasure and great surprise they had a lot of their beauty aisle on clearance. I kind of went a bit crazy in all honesty and I thought it would be fun to show you guys what I got.

I got a mixture between haircare products and bodycare products and one makeup product too. First up is the Garnier Ultimate Blends shampoo and conditioner in Mystic Olive. I’m currently using the exact same shampoo and conditioner except in Delicate Oat from the range and I am really lovely the feel of my hair thanks to them so I thought I would pick up a different one.

Also for my cleaning my hair I got this Tresemme Pre-Conditioner which is a conditioner that you use before shampooing your hair. The idea is that conditioner weighs down hair and so by using it before hand, that weighed down feeling can be prevented.

The L’oreal Fibrology range is not my favourite range in the world because I simply do not like the shampoo and conditioner from that range. That said I am a huge fan of their thickening serum and their thickness booster so when I saw that the lather was reduced I simply had to get one. You use this in two ways, you can either dispense a small amount and apply it to the base of the scalp, wait a few minutes and then rinse or you can mix it in with a hair mask and use the mixed mixture as a two-in-one product. I tend to do both depending on what my hair needs/wants.

Toni & Guy was hugely discounted and I absolutely love their shampoo and conditioners but have never tried anything else from the line. I ended up picking the Glamour Serum Drops which is an oil based serum that helps prevent frizz and fly aways.

I also got their Casual Radiating Tropical Elixir which is a treatment product to be used on wet hair before styling. I’ve already tried this and love it. It doesn’t leave any greasy residue on the hair and I’ve found my hair feels lighter and softer with this in it than without it.

Last haircare product that I got is the Toni & Guy Classic Shine Gloss Serum and this is really what it says on the tin. Its a finishing serum that is used to make your hair look and feel super soft and shiny.  All of these products where literally less than a fiver each! bargain much :).

Bodycare wise I got 2 deodorants, one body wash and one bath product. The bath product is the Simple Bath Cream and to be frank I got this simply because I love baths and have one at least twice a week.

I got the Nivea Lemon & Oil body wash which is another old favourite. It has an amazing fresh citrus scent that is absolutely perfect for using in the shower first thing in the morning to perk you up. I also love that it has small dispersable oil beads in it that gently exfoliate the body as you work it in with your lofa.

Deodorant wise I got one of the So…? fragranced deodorants in the scent Sexy which is a nice rich musky scent. I love the red bottle that is comes in and though I don’t like to use aerosol deodorants anymore because they contain aluminium I couldn’t pass up on the scent of this.

Last item from the bodycare products that I got is this Fresh Kidz Deodorant. This is the typical type of deodorant that I like to buy. It’s fragrance free so it doesn’t ruin my perfume smell, aluminium free and parabens free. Plus its a roller ball so it’s good for the environment too!.

Last and final item is the only makeup item that I got. This is another favourite of mine and to be honest I haven’t had it in awhile. The Garnier SkinActive BB Cream in the shade light is one of the best BB creams for those days when you don’t want anything heavy on your face. It light in texture and has amazing coverage too.

If you guys want reviews for any of the products that I’ve shown you in this haul please let me know in the comments below and I will definitely get on it 🙂

Platinum Hair Extensions Goodie Bag

A quick little message before I get into this post, a while ago I posted my blog post all about Meeting Sali Hughes and in that post I stated that everybody in the audience received a goodie bag. I’ve decided not to go through that goodie bag in separate blog post simply because I didn’t get much in it. All it had was a Dundrum Umbrella & Notebook, a box of Butlers chocolate & dark chocolate bar, vouchers and a Newbridge Christmas Tree Ornament which I’ve decided to re-gift. That being said I do however want to go through the raffle prize that I received on the day but that’ll be for another post. For today I’m going to be going through my Party with Platinum Hair event goodie bag.

Though the bag is small it did come with a bunch of lovely products. The first being very edible 🙂 I got this lovely Ferrero Rocher Chocolate inside this beautiful packaged parcel. I know that it’s just chocolate but I had a very indulgent time eating this because of the way it was presented.

The second item is probably the nicest from the goodie bag. This is the Platinum Hair Extensions brush which is designed specifically for brushing out hair extensions without damaging them. I’ve tried it out on my natural hair and it works just as well. I’m delighted I got this because I’m planning on getting on of the Platinum Prestige New Crown Collection Extensions so I can make my hair thicker and longer without the commitment of glued in extensions.

The last of the goodie bag are these two deluxe sized bottles. One of the them is the Platinum Hair Extensions Shampoo and the other the conditioner. They’re specfically formulated for hair that has hair extensions in but I have to say that I used them on my natural hair and they made it super soft. Definitely recommend regardless of whether or not you have hair extensions in.

I had an amazing time at the Party with Platinum Hair event and want to thank the girls over at RDC_Dublin for inviting me 🙂
