🔥🔥 Naked Petit Heat 🔥🔥

I have a confession to make. I’ve never been into the Urban Decay Naked Palettes and I honestly don’t know why. I always find them over hyped. Sometimes I buy into the hype and go to my local UD counter to pick one up…see the shades in the palette and decide against it. It’s mostly because there is not a single Urban Decay Naked Palette available that I would use every single shade in it. Until now that is.

When the Urban Decay Heat Palette launched I had the same feeling I had with the other palettes. It had shades in it that I wouldn’t use. Then the Urban Decay Petit Heat launched and I was hooked. I had finally found MY naked palette and boy is it gorgeous. Let’s talk packaging. True to it’s name -it’s tiny, so small that it’s smaller than your mobile. It has the most gorgeous flaming roses imprint as the cover design and it’s simply perfect for travel.

Inside you get six gorgeous warm toned eyeshadows. Five of them are mattes and one is a satin finish. You get two perfect transition shades with Vibrant and Hot Spell. The pigmentation on all these eyeshadows is so intense.

Shades Wild Thing, Heist and Strike are the accent shades in the palette. they can used to deepen the outer edge of the eyes or even to create an all-over smoky eye. The colour you choose will determine the effect you get on the eyes. Personally my favourite shade has got to be Heist, it simply makes brown eyes pop.

Last shade in the palette is Inhale and this is the shade you use to highlight the inner corner or even use it as the eyelid shade to brighten the look. It’s great as a browbone shade and when you wet it with a bit of Fix+ it literally looks like metallic foil on the eyes.

I absolutely love and adore this palette. I’ve been switching between it and the Madison Makeup Ireland BerryBold palette. Retail price is 32 euros but if you wait until Debenhams has 20% off it’s beauty range then it’s price is a beautiful 25.60.

Madison Makeup Berry Bold Palette

Madison Makeup is a brand, that in the few short months that it’s been released here in Ireland, has taken the world by storm. It’s a brand that has built a well-deserved reputation for being affordable, with great packaging and products.

One of their more popular products is their Berry Bold palette due to the fact that a lot of people compare it to the coveted Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. However where the ABH Palette retails for a whopping 49 euros, this palette comes at the lovely price tag of 19.99 euros.

The Berry Bold palette comes in a nice sturdy blush pink cardboard, flip open packaging. It has a great big mirror on the inside which automatically makes it that much better in my book. There is just something wonderful about having mirrors in palettes.

Also inside the palette you get 10 beautiful rose and neutral toned eyeshadows. The formulation of the eyeshadows is beautiful. They are buttery soft with great pigmentation and have little to no fallout. They are also so easy to blend out and wear perfectly throughout the day.

My favourite thing, personally about this palette is the fact that you can create a full eye look with just this one palette. It has two great transition shades which are named Neutral and Velvet.

The coloured eyeshadows are great for popping all over the lid and have two different finishes. Starlight and Berry are both satin/shimmer and Blush, Mika, Scarlet and Burnt are mattes so you can definitely do a soft look for the day and then go for a bit of sparkle for the night.

The last two shades in the palette are great for highlighting both the browbone and the inner corner of the eyes and they are Do and Twinkle.

Another reason why I will always recommend this palette over the ABH Palette every time is because, not only do you get 10 great eyeshadows but you also have four absolutely stunning highlighters as well. There is also nothing stopping you from using these as highlight shades on the eyes as well.

Mia and Bella are both pearl toned highlighters which I love using on my browbone. Daisy is my favourite of the four and it’s a soft rose gold shade that looks amazing on us pale skinned gals. Last shade, Fifi, is the darkest of the four and is a true pink bronze highlighter. I tend to use this over blushes as a topper.

The palette is available here in Ireland in most retailers and for everyone not living here, you can get this palette via the Pretty Little Thing website which I have linked for you below.

Essence Spring Summer 2018 Update!

Long time readers of this blog know it’s no secret that I have an unhealthy obsession with the beauty brand Essence Cosmetics. It’s available in almost every store here in Ireland, it’s relatively inexpensive and almost all of their products work like a dream. The other great thing about this brand is that every 6 months or every season they tend to update their collection/product line to keep up with new trends and in season colours. All of these products are available now as they’ve been released from the month of February and I hope to be reviewing some of them in future posts.

Essence Live.Laugh.Celebrate! 🎊 🎉

“Live.Laugh.Celebrate!” are the three words Essence Cosmetics has used to describe and name their latest limited edition collection. This collection is very much centred around having party fun and they’ve released it in honour of Essence Cosmetics turning 15 years old. I honestly can’t believe it’s been around so long, though it makes sense as I still remember buying their lipglosses as a teenager.

The collection itself is very basic as they’ve chosen to release it in their singles format. This means you simply buy the main product which is the empty 4 or 8 slotted palettes and fill them with the many limited edition shades of eyeshadows, lip powders and blushes. The pans are super inexpensive as the pricing of them ranges between 1.90-2.50 euros. I personally love the palettes as they’ve got the coolest cover on them, they have moveable beads in the cover and it’s super cute and fun to shake.

The great thing about this collection is that you don’t have to stick with the pans that have been released for it, you can of course choose shades from their permanent “My Must Haves” range. For my palette, I have 2 eyeshadows, a lip base and a lip powder.

The eyeshadows as you know if you’ve read my Essence SS17 review are some of the nicest shadows I have in my collection. They are super creamy and highly pigmented. This first shade that I have is called 03 Life is Beautiful and is a nice silvery white that I’m sure would look amazing as an inner corner highlight as well as a cupid’s bow highlight shade.

The second eyeshadow that I have is called 06 Celebrate Good Times and is this gorgeous intense lilac purple. This shade also has a very unique dual-chrome effect to it in that there is a slight blueish sheen to it when the light reflects off of it. Personally I found this shade to have better blendablity than the first shadow. It’s also less chalky so I definitely recommend you swatch these in stores before choosing which ones to get.

The last two slots of my palette are dedicated to lips. Now this is my first time trying out the lip pans from Essence and to be honest it’s very much love hate for me. Before I get into what I love and hate though let me explain how these work. You need to pick up the lip base (above-shade 01 Let’s get it started) and a lip powder in your desired colour. You apply the base first which creates almost a sheer gloss on the lips for the lip powder, which goes on top to adhere too.

SAM_3127 I love the colours that Essence has as part of this concept. The gloss is super hydrating and feels moisturising on the lips. It also slightly fills in the lines of the lips so it can definitely be used as a lip primer for other lipsticks. The powder, though a bit patchy, with a bit of work applies with nice colour payoff and it doesn’t feel drying on the lips which surprised me, seeing as it’s a powder I thought it would be.

My only real issue with the lip products is that you need both. You can’t for example buy the lip powder and apply it over a regular lip balm. I’ve tired, it simply balls up on the lips and goes on a complete patchy mess. Also, and this is just me personally, why bother going through two steps to get an amazing colour on the lips when I can just achieve that with a single swipe of lipstick. If your ok with the extra step and the extra product than I will say these are good, it’s just that you can’t buy one without the other.

I should mention that the shade I have in the lip powder is 01 Crush on You! This collection is available up until mid June so if it has sparked your interest I would say go out and get it while you can 🙂

Wet’N’Wild Spring into the Wild Collection

I’m a bit late on the bandwagon when it comes to featuring the brand Wet’N’Wild on my blog. It is definitely one of the most popular and affordable brands on the market. With their constant release of new collections, some limited and some not, they only seem to be growing in popularity. Recently I managed to get my hands on some product from their limited edition Spring Into The Wild collection. This collection has been out for a while and though it’s limited and a bit hard to find nowadays it is still available on the market for purchase.

There are two palettes available in the collection and I managed to get my hands on both. One thing to say about Wet’N’Wild eyeshadow palettes is that they cannot be knocked for their incredible pigmentation. All of their eyeshadows are super creamy and buttery soft. To make them even better they also blend to utter perfection.

The first of their palettes is called To In-Di-O I Go Go which is an interest play on the word Indigo I will say. The palette contains three eyeshadows and Wet’N’Wild always very handly labels them Browbone, Crease and Eyelid so that even beginners in makeup can use their products easily.

The browbone shade is a lovely true gold shade with a high shot of shimmer running through it. The crease shade a matte lavender shade that I will say is a bit on the powdery side. The eyelid shade is definitely the most unique of the three with its gorgeous turquoise blue colour. This shade also has high shimmer to it. All three of these eyeshadows have a good bit of fallout associated with them so I do recommend doing your base after your eyes when working with all Wet’N’Wild eyeshadows not just these palettes.

The second palette is called The New Romantic and is definitely the more wearable of the two. This one has a lot more of a softer approach when it comes to it’s colour selection. Also it has no matte shades. It comes in the same format as the Indigo palette in that you get the Browbone, Crease and Eyelid shades plus they come labelled also.

The browbone shade is a soft iridescent ivory shade that can be doubled up and used as an intense highlighter also. The crease shade is a pink toned shade that translates as more of a peach when worn on the lids. Finally the eyelid shade, much like the other palette, is the star of the show with it being this gorgeous lavender shimmer that looks beautiful even when it’s worn by itself.

The collection also has three highlighters within it’s range, however I only managed to get two as the first one was sold out. You can still get it via ebay and amazon however if any of you are interested in picking it up.

The first highlighter that I managed to get from the collection is called Sun Ceremony and it happens to be aptly named as it is very much a golden highlight shade that makes it look as if sunlight is running across the tops of your cheeks when wearing this.

The texture of these highlighters is rather stiff and you do need to go a bit heavy handed with your brush in order to get a decent highlight. If this was an expensive highlighter, that would definitely annoy me as I would end up finishing it up rather quickly but because of the price I think being a little bit heavy handed is ok in this case.

The second highlighter is called Desert Explorations and this one is definitely a more pink toned highlight and looks amazing on more paler skin tones in my opinion. I should mention that all these palettes did come with applicators but I do have a tendency to chuck them into the bin the minute I open the actual palettes up.

There is the one highlighter I didn’t find, 4 shades of nail polishes and 3 liquid liners also in the collection. All these products including the ones I’ve shown come at a price range of 4.95 euros and below.

Disney Alice Makeup Palette

Christmas and the New Year celebrations are officially over and all the gorgeous gifts that were displayed gloriously in stores for purchase have been discounted. Sales are in full swing and though I have a couple of haul posts coming up, I have also made a few makeup purchases from Boots the first of which I’m going to be discussing in todays post. Being a married adult of 24 years I have very little items in my live that sparkle memories of the past. Disney however holds a very special place for bring back my childhood and I’m positive I’m not alone in this. My favourite princess has always been Jasmine from Aladdin and The Lion King is a movie that will always bring me to tears.

It’s seems Alice in Wonderland however takes the cake (see what I did there 😉 ) when it comes to brands picking a Disney movie to create cosmetics around. Urban Decay did it with the release of their Alice Through The Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette and now Mad Beauty has done it with this palette. Full price the palette retailed for 9.50 euros in Boots however with the sales I managed to pick it up for 4.75 euros, definitely a bargain.

Packaging is super cute! Though not sturdy. It is cardboard though not of the wafer thin quality. Illustrations of Alice, Cheshire Cat, roses and of course Red Hearts decorate the palette elegantly whilst still maintaining that Disney feel to it. The palette opens up and first thing I noticed is that it does not have a mirror …brownie points have definitely been lost. In place of the mirror we get a gold shadow image of Alice with the quote “Curiouser and Curiouser” written next to it in the same gold colouring.

Inside you get 6 eyeshadows, 2 useless sponge applicators and a highlighter. The eyeshadows don’t have names, which considering it’s a Disney palette is really upsetting because naming them would have been super easy. Formulation wise, 3 mattes and 3 shimmers and all of them have epic pigmentation. They blend out super easily on the lid but I did find it a bit hard to remove some of the darker shades because of how pigmented they are.

The highlighter is simply stunning! A true gold highlighter that doesn’t have an overspray to it (though I’ll be honest I thought it did when I first got it). The shimmer runs through the entire powder evenly. No chunky glitter whatsoever, and it blends out beautifully on the skin. The sponge applicators are getting tossed into the bin right after I’m finished this post 😛 .

All in all I think this is a brilliant palette for all ages especially for the price. Even full price its worth getting it if I’m honest. I would totally recommend this for those of you just starting out in makeup or have a teenager in your life just starting out in makeup and love Disney. I got mine as I said from Boots but it is available from Mad Beauty’s Website though for how long I’m not sure

Youngblood Christmas Gifts

I can’t believe we’re already in December and only a few days away is Christmas. I’ve already begun to notice that people are getting more and more shopping crazy and that the stores are getting busier and more crowded as the days pass. It can be difficult knowing what to get your friends and family but that’s why I think this post should help anyone who has a person in their life who loves makeup. I’m going to be showing you everything that Youngblood Cosmetics are going to be bring out for Christmas.

Contouring is a trend that has hit the cosmetics industry hard and by hard I mean every brand under the sun wants to get in on it with their product. The star for this year has got to be the SoSueMe by Suzanne Jackson contouring palette but because that’s in such high demand it can be a tad bit hard to find. Youngblood Cosmetics has their version, and even though it’s a little bit more expensive (coming in at 43 euros) than the SoSueMe one it’s comparably similar.

“An all essential palette to shade and highlight like a professional, whilst incorporating the additional skin nurturing benefits of mineral make-up.”

If your looking to purchase for someone whose just starting out in makeup than this kit should fit the bill. The Youngblood Purely the Basics kit contains everything that a person could need for their first experience with makeup. As an added benefit it’s all mineral makeup, meaning they aren’t clogging their young healthy skin with bad ingredients that can be in some less expensive kits. This kit comes in at a price of 42.50 euros and contains a total of 4 full sized products.

“This kit gives you everything you nee in order to achieve a flawless look without clogging pores and flaring up acne including mineral foundation, mineral rice setting powder, crushed mineral blush and a kabuki blending brush.”

A kit that goes great with the one I just featured is the Youngblood Whiplash Mascara Set as no look is completed without a bit of mascara. This retails for 35 euros but the great thing about it is that your getting a lash primer in the kit as well as a mascara so you know that whoever receives this will have incredible looking lashes.

“Our whiplash mascara set includes a mineral lash primer and our signature mascara. Perfect for an eye-catching look.”

One of the best presents to give and receive during Christmas is a good quality brush set especially because buying brushes individually these days can be a bit expensive. Youngblood have decided to put together a 6 piece brush set in a handy travel case that contains almost everything brush wise that you would need to create an entire face. Price is 40 euros.

“Made from the highest-grade natural and synthetic materials, this brush set can be used to sculpt, bronze and complete any look on the  go!

Everybody loves a good lipstick/eyeshadow for the holidays and I personally think they make the best stocking stuffer. These lippies and eyeshadows may be a little bit pricey but their formulation cannot be doubted on how good it is. Best to give something that will be used and loved.

Intimatte Lipsticks (19.50 euros each)
“Formulated with emollients and vitamin E, the luxurious lipsticks will give you a beautiful matte look that will last for hours.”

Pressed Eyeshadow Duos (25 euros each)
“Our pressed eye shadow duo’s come in four dazzling shades, Virtue, Graceful, Charismatic and Desire. These colours which come in matte and shimmery shades are perfect for a party ready look this season!
