Bronx Colors Cosmetics

Bronx Colors is a Swiss cosmetics brands that loves to keep up to date with every trend that happens in every season. I was very lucky recently to get sent a few pieces from their brand to try and test out and of course I just had to share my thoughts with my readers.

SAM_3936

Gel Liner is a product that is very hard to get right 90% of the time. It has to be creamy yet have some thickness to it texture wise. It has to be opaque and super black (except when its meant to be colored) and it has to not dry out within a month of taken the lid of the first time. The Bronx Gel Liner Pot definitely  ticks all those boxes for me.

SAM_3937

This liner comes in a nice light plastic pot with a good strong lid to it. It also comes with a handy mini liner brush that it actually decent for a change and definitely can be used as a lip liner brush for the purse in the case you don’t need it for liner. I personally like to use my Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush for get liner as it can just be wiped clean after use and that way it doesn’t got hard with product on it.

SAM_3938

Speaking of brushes, I got two amazing brushes from Bronx Colors to talk about too. The first is the BRP01 and this is a nice fat, fluffy brush that is super soft. The size and shape of it make it perfect for blush, powder and bronzers. It doesn’t leaves any harsh brush stroke lines behind and it blends out everything beautifully.

SAM_3939

The other brush that I got is the BRP05 and I personally found this brush to be a great shape and size for using it to blend and buff shadow on the lower lash line. The bristles are just as soft as the powder brush so you can definitely see the consistence when it comes to the Bronx Colors products.

SAM_3940

Last product I have from this brand is their 12 pan smokey undercover eyeshadow palette. I really have mixed feelings about this palette. The colour selection for it is simply beautiful and looking at it when you first open it up, it looks like the perfect palette for a great smokey eye. That said the eyeshadows themselves are a bit hit and miss.

SAM_3942

Some have great pigmentation and blend smoothly with little to no fallout. Whereas others are super chalky and have little to no pigmentation to them and a crapload of fallout. I personally think there are better palettes on the market nowadays than this one, it’s definitely not one I would recommend.

Some Love 💓 for L.O.V Cosmetics PT•2

In my first post on LOV Cosmetics I did a full review of some of their base products and for todays post I’m going to follow it up with a full review of some of their eye products. I will probably be doing a part 3 which will most likely focus on some of their lip products.

SAM_3391

Let’s start things off with the product that most people can’t go out in public without and that’s mascara. If I had to describe this mascara I would compare it to George Clooney-it gets better with age. The more this mascara dries out the better it applies, the more volume you achieve and the more dramatic the lashes. It’s got a very curved wand to it, and the formulation when I initially got it was very wet and gave a very natural effect when applied.

SAM_3393

I automatically popped it aside as a hate, but a few days later I was stuck for mascara and so I tried it again and noticed it was a tad bit better. Now roughly 3 weeks in it’s basically my go to. I just recommend that when you go to by a new tube of this to make sure you’ve got enough of your old tube left so you can let the new one dry out a little.

SAM_3402

The LOV Cosmetics Best Dressed eye liner is a gel liner in handy pencil like form. It’s also very highly comparable to the black liner from L’oreal that I recently reviewed (review linked below.) . I like this eyeliner, there’s nothing special about it. It gets the job done, has a great formula and doesn’t budge once it’s dry.

SAM_3447

The end of the pencil has a built in topper so you can always have a sharp point to your liner. The pigmentation is very very good in that the black is super intense and has no greyness or brown in it whatsoever. You need a good gel liner than I would totally recommend this.

SAM_3405

The same can be said about their Confidental liquid eyeliner. This is a felt tip liner and it has an extremely fine point to it to make sure you are able to create the perfect winged flick. I personally love how intense the pigmentation is with these liners as they’re so opaque and there is no patchiness to them whatsoever.

SAM_3443

As far as black liners go these are some of the best that I’ve tried and I think the only other brand that does similar quality ones to these is L’oreal but it should be noted that these are more affordable than L’oreal price wise. When I plan on repurchasing, L’oreal has been pushed aside and these will be the ones I will go for.

SAM_3406

Nude liner is just as essential as black eyeliner in any makeup collection. You should always ensure that you pick a nude liner that has a long-lasting formulation to it as most of the time the place of application for a product like this will be your waterline and you don’t want it to budge.

SAM_3449

With regards to LOV Cosmetics nude liner I found it’s formula to be nice and creamy and very long-lasting. I applied it on my waterline in the morning and it was still there when I went to take my makeup off at night. Because of the type of nude shade it is you can definitely double this pencil up as a pin-point concealing pencil if you’re ever in situation where you’re stuck for concealer.

SAM_3394

Let’s finish off this review with some eyeshadows and I’ve got two different formulations of them to share with you. The first is this champagne, almost icy white shade called 340 Winter Dessert.

SAM_3455

I didn’t like this eyeshadow at all, it has little to no pigmentation to it whatsoever and the glitter it has is very chunky which results in a lot of fallout. The lack of pigmentation also makes it look like you just thrown a loose glitter on your lids and walked out the door.

SAM_3395

The shade 120 Misty Earth which is a nice neutral brown, I absolutely adore. This is completely matte and blends to utter perfection. Looks so stunning on both brown and green eyes and is so pigmented that a little goes a long way.

SAM_3457

Both these eyeshadows come with a mini eyeshadow applicator that always end up in the bin and have a handy mirror in the lid of their compact.

I should have part three up soon which ill be a review on some of the LOV Cosmetics lip products so make sure to subscribe in order not to miss that!

Eyeliners

L’oreal Infallible Gel Crayon

Another amazing new launch by L’oreal Paris is their new Infallible Gel Crayon Eyeliners. These liners are waterproof, budge-proof and come in nine beautiful, highly pigmented shades though we’ve only got five of the shades available here in Ireland. Personally, I’m absolutely in love with the formulation of these gel eye pencils as they remind me of an old favourite that has been discounted for some time now and that’s the Avon Super Shock gel liner if anyone remembers it.

SAM_3343

Like I mentioned this pencils come in nine beautiful shades, some are more faltering than others colour wise but all of them have high and intense pigmentation. I managed to pick up three of these liners from Boots when they were on a 3 for 2 offer and the first shade that I got is 001 Back to Black which, since purchasing it, has become a holy grail product for me. I even prefer it to my Maybelline Master Precise Skinny gel eyeliner pencil.

SAM_3355

These pencils have a gel formulation to them which means that once their applied they will set and become budge proof until you go in with an oil-based makeup remover to take them off. The downside to this formulation is that the pencil texture is very very soft so you will end up going through it very quickly and needing to replace it often should you so desire. These retail at roughly 7.99 euros a piece which isn’t the cheapest when you need to get a new one every month.

SAM_3351

The second shade that I got is 005 Super Cooper and this shade is a stunning burnt metallic brown shade that looks amazing on both brown and green eyes. I will say that I wish the packaging of these was a twist up instead of needing to sharpen it as I feel if it was twist-up you’d probably get the most out of you product rather than wasting some of it while sharpening it.

SAM_3352

The final shade that I picked up is 011 Violet  Va-Va-Voum which obvious has been named by a Nicki Minaj fan over in L’oreal HQ. This shade is probably the only real one out of the three that has some sheerness to it but I think that’s down to the actual colour of the liner rather than the formulation. The shade is actual supposed to be a pastel but Unfornately it doesn’t have the paleness to pull of the pastel effect it should. Instead it’s more of sheer lavender that looks almost light brown on the waterline.

It’s not a terrible shade but if you were looking at vibrancy when going for this colour than you will be sorely disappointed. I like it though and I love the formulation of this pencils so I definitely will be repurchasing them especially the black.

Eyeliners

Isadora Kohl Kajals

When it comes to eyeliner I tend to stick to brands I know and love simply because my eyes are extremely sensitive. They’re so sensitive that I tend to have to fork out 30 euros every 3 months for either the Ren Express Make-Up Remover or my Holy Grail Product which is the Lancôme Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover as they are the only two eye makeup removers that I have found that don’t cause any irritation to my eyes. The two brands that I tend to stick with for eyeliners are Urban Decay and Maybelline but my recent discovery of the Isadora Kohl Kajals liners has me re-thinking that I shouldn’t be just sticking to those two brands.

SAM_2702

I’m going to be completely honest and say that if I wasn’t sent these products to try out I probably would never be reviewing them because of my fear of irritating my eyes. Now you guys are probably going to think that I just used them because they were sent to me but no, what made me use them was the fact that they had the words “Fragrance Free” and “Clinical Tested” on the back of their packaging, something I would have never seen in stores.

SAM_2703I have these Kajals in two very classical shades that is 01 Black and 00 White. As you can see from the pictures the liners come in very sleek black packaging. Isadora have styled these liners very much to look like the old Arabic liners that were used back in the day. You don’t get a lot of product in each liner, just 1 gram. Though I like the way these liners look, I don’t think it’s very practical. Once you start using these liners regularly that nib is going to flatten down and then it would very difficult to use as an eyeliner and get any real precision with it.

SAM_2764

The formulation of these liners is beautifully creamy and soft. It’s last a really long time in the waterline without fading or smudging. The pigmentation of them is very intense and there is no patchiness whatsoever with them. It’s so hard to find a good black and white liner these days that has the pay-off in both colour and longevity the these have.

SAM_2704

Out of the two I think the white shade has got to be my favourite. Mainly because I have black liners that I like and love from other brands but I don’t have and white liners that I adore. Also bare in mind that Isadora is a incredibly affordable brand and these eyeliners only retail at 10.50 euros a piece, compared to the 19.50 euros of Urban Decay their a bargain.

SAM_2762

For me I think I need to get into the habit of actually reading the products ingredients and seeing if their suitable for sensitive eyes before just walking past them in the store and going to what I know. I have reviewed other products from Isadora including their amazing blushes so I’ll link them below also.

Essence SS17

I recently did an overview post about Essence Spring Summer 2017 releases and thought why not go pick up some of the range to try for myself especially because these are part of Essence’s permanent line for the coming months. I ended up purchasing three items in total, though one of them is actually a 4-pan build it yourself palette so technically it’s six items that I got.

SAM_2715

SAM_2710

I think it makes the most sense for me to start with the palette. Essence have really adopted the whole MAC Cosmetics approach when it comes to this. They have released eyeshadows, blushes and even lipsticks all in pan form. These pans can then be inserted into the 8 or 4 pan palette holders depending on how many you wish to purchase. I myself only went for the 4 pan palette, and I ended up filling it with 3 eyeshadows and the 1 highlighter shade that they released.

SAM_2711

The first shade that I got is called 06 Raspberry Frosting and this is a gorgeous popping pink shade that has silver shimmer running through it. The one thing I didn’t like about the shadows, and I’m talking about the ones that have shimmer in them, is that they also have this chunky glitter spray over to them.

SAM_2774

Though I love the shade of this shadow, I personally didn’t like the formulation of it. It’s very powdery and has a ton of fallout when your working with it on the eyes. That said though once it’s blended in it has amazing colour pay-off and looks really pretty on the eyes.

SAM_2714

The second shade that I got is called 11 Stay In Coral Bay. I love the colour of this shade, it reminds me a lot of one of my favourite shadows from Urban Decay, Fireball except this one doesn’t have that dual-chrome effect that Fireball has. Instead it’s got this super pretty high iridescent gold shimmer running through it.

SAM_2776

Though it’s also got a spray over on it, it isn’t as bad as some of the other shades as the gold glitter is very finely sprayed on top. I should mention that once the spray over is gone, it doesn’t mean the shadows end up being matte, they do have shimmer running through the pan throughout.

SAM_2712

SAM_2778

Last of the eyeshadows that I got is in the shade 18 Black As A Berry and this is one of those shades that looks super boring in the pan and once it’s on the eyes your like WOW! I love the cranberry shade of this colour, and the fact that it does have a slight satin sheen to it when it’s on the eyes.

SAM_2713

For my final slot in my palette, I got only highlighter shade that they released in pan form called 01 Let it Glow. This is a dud, it doesn’t have any shimmer or iridescence to it. It’s matte and even using it as a matte highlighter gives no highlight whatsoever. Major fail when it comes to this as a highlighter. It’s more of a setting powder in my opinion and if you want to get it to use it as such then it works a dream because the powder is actually quite nice on the skin, and blends in beautifully.

SAM_2718

Rainbow highlighters was a trend that hit Instagram hugely back in 2016 and thought it’s not as strong going as it was back then it’s still a popular trend. Essence has decided to release its own version, and me being someone who has never tried a rainbow highlighter before, decided to get one to try out.

SAM_2719

I absolutely love this highlighter! It’s probably not one I would wear everyday or one that I would wear a lot but colour of it is simply stunning. Each of the shades in the pan is beautifully pigmented and packs a high intense shine when applied onto the cheekbones. Another great thing about this palette, is that if your not a fan of using all of these shades in the one go, then the strips are wide enough apart that you can go in with a smaller brush and choose only one shade out of the four and use it by itself instead.

SAM_2716

Last of my purchases is the Essence Cushion Eyeliner and this is your cushion foundation trend in eyeliner form. Absolutely love this eyeliner! Huge must have. It’s super pigmented and really black so no worries about getting that whole charcoal black effect.

SAM_2717

In case your wondering what I’m on about when I say cushion eyeliner, what it is is a sponge that is placed into the jar of the eyeliner and soaked with the eyeliner liquid so that it decreased the chances of the liquid liner drying out. It also reduces the amount of product you end using as the cushion dispenses just the right amount.

SAM_2782

For application I highly recommend using a fine liner brush as a angled liner brush tends to become over saturated with product and then it’s just a mess when you go to apply it. This eyeliner retailed for 3.80 euros and the highlighter was 4.40 euros. All of the pans individually retailed for 1.90 euros and the actual pan holder/palette was 2.50 euros.

Let me know if you’ve recently picked up anything from Essence Cosmetics new summer releases and what you picked up.

Love is in the air! Especially with Valentine’s Day coming up next month. Nothing inspires the idea of love more than the city of Paris and it seems the creative mind of Lisa Eldridge has that same thinking. Being Lancôme’s creative director, she’s designed their new Spring Collection all around the Parisian City itself. This collection is so beautiful that I would want to own these products simply to display them. The colours she’s chosen for the collection are very pastel shades and perfect for getting that spring, fresh look to the skin. Have a look at the collection and let me know if your going to  run out and buy the highlighter like me 😉
