Face Powders

Essence Cosmetics Create & Transform Palette

Essence Cosmetics has been upping their game lately with regards to their Trend Limited Edition releases. They have ventured into full, all-in-one palettes which is major thing when it comes to a brand like Essence as most of their products are individuals so it’s a nice change to see a big palette from them.

This is the Essence Create & Transform palette and it contains 15 pans which consist of contour powders, blush powders, highlighting powders and three gorgeous transformer shades along with a dewy gloss pan.

The only thing I wish this palette had is a mirror as it’s big enough to hold one and it doesn’t have one. The palette also comes with a flat eyeshadow brush, which didn’t really make any sense to me as this is a face palette but there really isn’t anything stopping you from using these shades as eyeshadows.

First three shades are the contour shades, and these are so good for us paler skin toned girls as they are light enough that they don’t look orange when applied. These shades are also perfect for using as the transition shades when using them as eyeshadows.

There are six really gorgeous blush shades, some are nice and bright and there are also some lovely neutral shades that can be used with a range of makeup looks. I have to say all the powders are amazing in both formulation and pigmentation. They have great colour pay-off and they blend out brilliantly.

For highlighting there are two shades as well as three transformer shades which are meant to be used over the regular highlighters to intensify them and make them pop just that bit more. I personally found the transformer shades to look incredible one their own firstly and on the inner corners of the eyes.

The final pan is a gloss, which I have not removed the plastic film from and I honestly don’t plan too as I personally think it will just get super messy and the powders will probably end up in it. You can just use Vaseline or cosmetic gloss instead of it. Personally think they should have sold it separately as a larger pan or made a little kit of the palette and the gloss in a tube.

Those are all my thoughts on this gorgeous palette from Essence. I believe it’s out now and available up until the end of  May.

Essence Valentine’s Day Trend Edition: 💞 Wood You Love Me? 💞

Valentine’s Day is a holiday that either people really really love or really really hate. There really is no in between. For me, I think Valentine’s Day is super cute and a great way to do something different with the person or persons that you love. However, regardless of whether you love or hate Valentine’s Day I know that you are going to love this new trend edition from Essence Cosmetics called Wood You Love Me?. This is a limited edition collection and features some incredible products that you can use on the day regardless or whether you’re going out or staying in for a cozy night.

Let’s start things off with the products that I actually have from the collection and then I will pop pictures of everything else from the release below. The first, and probably the most gorgeous product from this trend edition is the Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette in 01 From The Forest, With Love! This is five pan palette that is very wearable and neutral with regards to it’s eyeshadow shades.

I have to say I absolutely love the detail that went into the packaging of this palette. It’s got a 2D reflective image on the front of it, that, depending on how you tilt it, will show two bunnies running to hug each other. It also doesn’t have any useless applicators included in it, which is refreshing to see. My only wish was that it should have had a mirror as it would have made a great choice for travel.

The pigmentation of these eyeshadows is beautiful, rich and buttery and creamy. They blend out flawlessly on the eyes though they do have a bit of fallout-especially the more shimmery shades. The centre champagne shade, in my opinion, works great as both a eye highlight and a cheek highlight and gives off a very intense shine. Highly highly recommend this palette and it only retails  for €4.40.

To go with the palette, they did include a double ended brush as part of the collection. I have to say, this is a very interesting brush and I definitely don’t have anything like it in my very vast collection of brushes. One of the ends of the brush has a very unique V-shape to it and it took me a while to figure out that when you look at it from above it’s shaped like a heart! So Cute!  ^_^.

That said I don’t know how you would use this brush side to apply eyeshadow, so far I’ve only been using it for highlighting my brow bone as the shape of the brush doesn’t really matter for this.

The other end is a-lot more useful and is shaped like a dome, making it perfect for applying and blending out product in the crease and the outer corner or the eye. I also found it great for highlighting the inner corner and applying my primer evenly. The bristles of this brush are super soft & yes that softness is still there after washing. They are also synthetic and so can be used with both cream and powder products. The brush retails for €2.90.

Essence ‘Made To Sparkle’ Trend Edition

Happy 2018 everyone! I hope everyone had an amazing time off and a great start to the new year. Essence Cosmetics has one of the most featured brand on my blog throughout 2017 and so I thought it would only make sense, from my perceptive, to feature it as my first post of 2018. Trend Editions are small capsule collection that Essence Cosmetics tends to bring out every few months just to introduce new trends to it’s line and keep things fresh within it’s products.

For this trend edition Essence Cosmetics truly brought the duo-chromatic trend to life, especially with it’s Highlighting and Transforming Prismatic Palette. This palette contains four very unique duo-chromatic powders that can be used on eyes, lips and cheeks to add intense pops of highlight to those areas.

The powders themselves have a very satin and silky texture to them. Pigmentation for me could have been more intense but I did find if I sprayed my brush with a bit of MAC Fix+ than I got the payoff that I wanted from them. I think this is a great highlighter palette for the eyes, especially for the inner corner and the lips, particularly on the cupid’s bow. For the cheeks, I personally found the powders difficult to get to mesh with the skin.

Also from the collection I picked up two of their Highlighting Eye Pens and kinda wish I didn’t. These have such a creamy formulation to them and their pigmentation definitely looks like the kind of thing I want popped on to my eyes to make them glam.

Unfortunately the pigmentation just didn’t translate. I would go and swipe these pens across my eyelids and nothing would go on my eyes almost as if they’re dried out, which they’re not because they swatch beautifully on my hands….can I say dud products or what -_-.

The first of these pens is in the shade 01 Highlight In Your Eyes and this is a nice shimmery silver with a very intense gold undertone too it that makes it look almost titanium in colour.

The pens do come in great packaging in that they are twist-up so there is no need to worry about a topper…not that you’ll be apply them much because as I’ve said they don’t give any pigmentation what so ever on the eyelids.

The second shade is called 02 It’s Time To Party and this is a nice champagne rose gold shade. I know Essence Cosmetics is one of my fav brands ever but these pens definitely didn’t do it for me. I do highly recommend the palette if you’re looking to add something extra to you’re makeup look.

I’ve added images of the other available products within this trend edition below and I can definitely say that the liquid lipsticks are of amazing formulation. I didn’t pick them up because I have so many lip products in my collection at the moment but my friend did and she loves them to pieces.

Essence ‘Hello Happiness’ Trend Edition

Even though January is considered to be the month that the New Year starts in, I always feel like September is the month where the year really starts. It’s probably because it’s the month that indicates the end of summer, the start of schools and colleges and the beginning of a new season. For me whenever September comes around, I love to re-vamp not only my wardrobe but also my makeup and brush collection and it just so happens that Essence Cosmetics seems to be in the same mindset as me with the launch of their new trend edition ‘Hello Happiness’

This trend edition is dedicated in it’s entirety to makeup brushes and keeping them clean, pristine and in great condition. The collection in total is composed of seven brushes in total along with a cute brush bag and brush cleansing soap for keeping your brushes clean. From this collection I was kindly sent the foundation brush and the cleansing soap. I did try to get some of the other brushes to add to this review but it seems they’re flying out of the stores like there’s no tomorrow.

The foundation brush is the smallest of the brushes handle-wise, coming almost like a travel brush to be frank. It has super dense and very tightly compacted bristles which stops it from absorbing to much of your foundation as it is applying it. Application wise it applies almost any base I’ve used with it (Urban Decay Naked Skin, Bareminerals BarePro, Garnier BB Cream and Rimmel Fresher Skin) flawlessly and without any brush stroke marks or streaking.

I did wash this brush after every application with the cleansing soap and it washes beautifully. No shedding and no soap residue remains on the brush either. Also the brush itself is super soft when you first get it-it stays soft even after washing. The cleansing soap I found worked really nice to remove almost all traces of makeup from this brush.

I did try it with some of my other brushes and found that with synthetic hair brushes it did great but with natural hair brushes it kind of left a residue on them. It made them feel almost plastic, like there was some sort of coating on the hairs of the brushes. The packaging of the cleansing soap does clearly state to use only with synthetic brushes but I personally never follow the rules when it comes to makeup and products. Also I simply rewashed the brushes my usual way with baby shampoo and they went back to normal.

essence hello happiness! brush bag open

I highly recommend these brushes and the cleansing soap for any of your synthetic brushes. They are amazing quality and that’s not the best part. Every single one of these brushes retails for less than 5 euros and with brushes being so expensive these days that’s definitely a bargain.

Essence “& the Lovely Little Things” Trend Edition

I’m a little bit late with this trend edition this month as I was away on holidays when it launched mid August but as far as I know it’s still available until the end of September. This trend edition is called “& the lovely little things” and it’s  capsule collection of three eyeshadow palettes, 2 lip balms, 4 nail polishes, nail file, nail stickers and a gorgeous contour, blush and highlight palette. The only thing I don’t have from the collection for this review today is the nail polishes but I will insert HD Images at the end just so you guys can see the colours available.

Lets start with my favourite from the collection and that’s the lip balms. Both of these lip balms are the exact formulation wise. They only differ with their scents and outer packaging. The pink tube is called 01…& you smile and it has a strawberry scent to it while the peach one is called 02…& we kissed and you guessed it, it has a peach scent to it.

The formulation of these lip balms is absolutely lovely. Very hydrating and just the right amount of slip to them for them to go onto the lips smoothly. Out of the two I personally have been using the pink one but only because I prefer the scent of strawberries over peaches. Highly recommend these as they are very handbag friendly and great for on the go.

For the eyes, this collection has three different eyeshadow palettes. Each palette has seven shadows and a brush/sponge applicator. They all don’t have a mirror because the lids have cute designs added to them. Personally I would have liked a slide out mirror from the bottom but that’s only because I think all eyeshadow palettes should come with a mirror.

Two of the three palettes would be considered on the warmer side of things colour wise. They have very neutral and earthy tones as their eyeshadow shades. The texture of the shadows in all of the palettes is buttery soft but I did find the some of the lighter shades barely had any pigmentation to the point where I had to swatch them using the sponge applicator in order for me to show you the colour of it.

The matte shades are also more powdery than the shimmer shades but to be honest on the eyes both formulations blend out beautifully and last quite a good while on the eyes. The first of the palettes is called 01…& my BFF on the phone and it has 6 matte shades and one shimmer shade.

The second palette is called 02…& the love story with my wardrobe. It has 6 shimmery shades and one matte shade.

Last palette is probably what would be called the smoky palette from the collection and it’s called 03…& our secret date at midnight. Eyeshadow wise it has three mattes and four shimmers.

This collection does contain a face palette and it’s called 01…& my crazy family. This palette has two gorgeous blush shades, two highlighters and two contouring shades. I love everything bar the contouring shades.

Formulation and texture wise all of them are super soft and smooth, with minimum powder kickback. My issue with the contour shades is that they’re just a tad bit warm for using as contour, they’re more suited as bronzers but other than that it’s very much a gorgeous palette.

The final products from the collection are all nail products and they include a cute double side nail file which is excellent at filing nails, some nail stickers which you have the option of using either on your nails or to enhance the packaging of the palettes by popping them on and four beautiful shades of nail polish which I’ve added HD Images of below.

Let me know what your favourite product is from the collection 🙂

Essence “I Want Candy” Collection 🍓🍬 🍉

At the end of June I posted an overview post on the latest launch from Essence Cosmetics and that is their I Want Candy collection which happens to be in collaboration with Chupa Chups Lollipops. I will link the overview post below so you can see what else is available in the release but for this post I have a few of the products from the collection to talk about.

As you can probably guess from a collaboration that features lollipops everything is very colourful from the packaging to the actual products. An added bonus is that fact that almost everything in this collection is also scented and the main scents are strawberry, watermelon and cola. All of these scents are actually the popular flavours of Chupa Chups Lollipops (my fav is actually cola 😋).

Probably the product almost everyone asked me about when I posted my overview post on the collection is the Scent Shimmer Pearls Blush in the shade 01 I Want It All! I can finally report back that this blush is as good as it appears to be. It’s got high pigmentation, great blendability and tends to falter most skin tones as it goes on almost a soft peach shade.

The only thing I didn’t like with this blush was the scent, it’s meant to be the same as a Strawberry Cream Chupa Chup Lolly but I personally found that the scent was a bit too artificial and so it didn’t translate to me as such. This blush has a retail price of 4.40 euros.

The next main product that I have is the eyeshadow palette called 01 I don’t care, I  Lolly! This palette has four really pretty pastel shades. Two of them are shimmers and two are satin finish. For me, I found that the satin ones had a bit more pigmentation and blended a lot easier on the eyelid than the shimmer.

With regards to the scent of this palette, I think they got the strawberry scent spot on. It wasn’t artificial like the blush and it was also very subtle, meaning you only really smell it when you open up the palette. This I like because to be honest who wants strawberry smelling eyelids 😆

The last makeup item that I have from the collection is their Lolly Dots Eyeliner in the shade 01 Dot it All. I have to say this is probably my favourite product from the collection. The most unique thing about is definitely it’s applicator. The tip of is shaped into three dots with the dots getting smaller as you move up the tip.

This makes it great for creating unique eyeliner designs on the eye. It also makes it easier to map out your eyeliner shape by dotting it out before using the eyeliner pen on it’s side to create a flawless flick. Charlotte Tilbury adopts this technique and uses it on almost all her clients so there’s no reason why we shouldn’t either.  Pigmentation of this eyeliner is also super black and it dries down to a high shine glossy finish which personally reminds me of the shininess of the plastic wraps of the Chupa Chups Lollies.

Let’s move on to some fun nail products, with these three amazing nail polishes. Each of the polishes has it’s own unique scent, but I don’t recommend you try to smell it from the bottle…..(yes, I did learn that the hard way.) The scent really only appears once the polish is dry on the nails. My favourite out of the three has got to be the Cola Scented polish which is a nice summery duck egg blue called 02 I want Cola!

These polishes are slightly smaller in size than Essence’s normal polishes and I really think that’s simply because they are limited edition and part of a collection. The polishes do vary with each other with the amount of coats of each one you need to apply but they all have amazing colour pay-off and dry super quick. The pink shade is strawberry scented and is called 01 I want Strawberry!

You do need to work a bit with these polishes due to their smaller size, it also means they have a thinner brush. The thin brush is great for precision but it also means you need at least three strokes of it to cover the entire nail with polish. The turquoise shade is called 03 I want Watermelon!

These polishes retail for 1.90 euros a piece. There is also some cute nail stickers as part of this collection (also cola scented) and they are 1.60 euros and last really well especially if you pop on a thick layer of top coat over them.

Those are all the products that I have from this super fun collection. Let me know what you’re planning on getting from it & also what your favourite flavour of Chupa Chups lolly is 😀
