Bare Minerals Invisible Glow Highlighting Powders

If I had to pick a high end brand other than Urban Decay to be my favourite it would definitely be BareMinerals. There is very little that I’ve tried from BareMinerals that I didn’t like and because of that I have quite a few of their products within my cosmetics collection. Recently I picked up their Invisible Glow powders because ever since I discovered the soft illuminator from the L.O.V Fall Collection 2017 I have been hooked on subtle highlights for my complexion. It just looks so pretty and natural and soft.

There are two shades available in the range and the first shade is the lightest of the two. It’s called Fair to Light and is a white pearl-scent shade with peach shimmer running very, very subtly through it. The powder is very finely milled and on the face it blends out seamlessly without any harsh lines. The shimmer isn’t chunky but lovely and soft almost candle lit glow like. If I was to compare this to anything currently on the market I would say it’s very similar to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders.

The second shade is called Medium and is definitely darker in colour than the previous shade. This is very much a peach toned highlighter but again because it’s so softly and finely milled it looks very subtle on the skin. I personally like taking this down a bit onto my cheek bones because I find the colour of it warms up my skintone whilst adding a nice glow to it overall.

These compacts currently retail for 30 euros each and I picked mine up from Debenhams Ireland who tend to do discount offers of 10-15% of makeup on a monthly basis so you can pick up this compact for less than 30 for sure.

BareMinerals Coffee Morning

So we didn’t have coffee but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the amazing day that Bareminerals put together in Debenhams on Friday the 7th of April. For those of you would don’t know, the Debenhams in Waterford city isn’t the biggest of them but I will say it is one of the nicest. The beauty section isn’t over packed with dozens of brands, the concession brands rule over one area of the store with their incredible fashion line and Debenhams own line of clothes takes control of the other half. The top floor is delegated to the menswear, kitchen, homeware and should you want to actually have a coffee, the restaurant.

I was invited along with my mother by the lovely Mary, who takes care of all things Bareminerals over in Debenhams Waterford. Upon arrival we were allowed to sit in one of the chairs that was arranged around the makeup station which was set up for the demo. Each chair had a goodie bag and inside we received some skincare samples, a perfume sample (Guerlain Mon Guerlain) and a sample of the BareMinerals BareSkin Foundation which I already own so if you want a review of it let me know in the comments below.

We were treated with a live demo of a natural neutral look using all of the new skincare and makeup released from Bareminerals over the last few months. Tracey (pictured) from Bareminerals was actually the one who did the makeup on the day. While watching the demo we drank a glass of oh so luxurious 7up and ate Popcorn! Definitely an interesting combo but I loved it all the same :).

The morning ended with me needing to get my hands on the undereye detailer brush that she used to buff the eyeshadow under the eyes. It shaped almost like a chair so it makes it so perfect for blending in small areas. Unfornately it was sold out but I got the new Bareminerals BarePro Pressed Foundation in the shade 01 Fair instead. Let me know if you want a review of that too.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Eye primer is something I swear by! I cannot do eye makeup without first applying it as a base. My holy grail and the one I always use is the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Too Faced cosmetics recently sent me information about their eye primer so I thought I would share.

” Our original, world-famous Shadow Insurance locks down eye shadows and intensifies colour to ensure  crease-proof, fade-proof, waterproof wear for up to 24 hours. The feather-light colourless formulation glides onto lids to create a smooth, even canvas for seamless shadow application and a stay-put look every time.”

This is available in Ireland in all Debenhams stores and retails for 20 euros which is exactly the same price as the Urban Decay one. I’m actually running out of the Urban Decay so I think I might pick this one up to try out next.

Holy Grail Product

Don’t you just love it when you find that product that you’ve been searching for and you literally cannot live a single day without it afterwards. That’s kinda what’s after happening with me with this product. Let me explain first why I need such an expensive product in my life.

I have normal/combination skin, depending on the season I’m in, but the areas around my eyes and my eyes themselves are really really sensitive. They’re so sensitive that if I go near them with an inexpensive eye makeup remover or a makeup wipe I end up spending the entire next day rubbing at my eyes while tears stream down my face! That’s how bad it is. So I went on a little hunt, I was willing to spend how ever much money, and I discovered this. Its the Lancome Bi-Facil Non Oily Instant Cleanser Sensitive Eyes.

This is one of those eye makeup removers that has the two layers-one oil and the other water-that you need to shake together before you use it. Now the bottle does say Non Oily on it but if I’m honest after I use it on my eyelids there is an oily residue left over but its not uncomfortable. It’s more of a moisturizing feeling oil than a greasy one. I do however suggest that people with oily skin and oily eyelids to stay away from this product! After it is shaken up it goes a sort of cloudy blue color, I simply apply it onto a cotton wool pad at this point and press it against my eyelids for a few seconds. It dissolves the makeup completely and I only ever have to use 2 cotton pads, one for each eye.

I don’t get any irritation associated with this product at all and I never have the urge to rub my eyes either whenever I’m done using this product. Another great thing about this product is that it lasts for an incredibly long time. I’ve only ever have to repurchase it once in the last year and I use it every single day. This is my holy grail product and I don’t think I will ever stop using it. Let me know what your holy grail product is in the comments below! 🙂

Lip Products

BareMinerals Pop of Passion Lip-Oil Balm

“Lips that pop with pure passion”

Is the motto that comes with the  Pop of Passion lip-oil balms that bareMinerals have launched last summer. They’ve released 8 shades within the range and the color that I picked up is the shade CANDY POP.Pop2

Getting it out there now, I really like this product. Let’s start with packaging, each lip-oil balm comes in these gorgeous bright fun boxes that correspond with the actual products lip shade, which is a small thing but its still a great feature. I know the countless times I’ve selected a shade I like within a lip product, only to come home and find it’s the wrong one because the sales-lady got it mixed up because they’re all packed in the same coloured boxes. So the outer box coming in the shade of the lip product is a great thing for me.

Inside the pretty box, comes the tube of lip-oil balm. I have to say, even though the tube is bright and summery it isn’t all that sturdy. I find that the lid does come off a bit too easily, so I don’t know how this would fair in the constant movement of my purse which is why I’ve been keeping it in it’s original outer box (normally I throw it away the minute I use the lip product).

As I’ve mentioned the shade that I got is CANDY POP and this is your traditional bubblegum, rosie pink shade. The formulation of these is long lasting. When you first apply it, it does give an intense colour pay-off but as you wear it and eat etc,. it does reduce itself down to a stain. I have to say I also found it to be very hydrating and moisturizing on the lips without that typical greasy feeling you can sometimes get with some oil based products.

Initial Application (High Pigmentation)

After A Couple Of Hours (Stain Pigmentation)

As far as I know these lip products are added to the bareMinerals permanent line so there’s no rush to get them. I bought mine for 19 euros but you can get them for cheaper if the store does 10% offers on its beauty products throughout the seasonal months.

That’s it for now guys. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post.

Style event w/ Glenda Gilson

Had the opportunity this month to a audience member in a Style event that was being taken place in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Dublin. I don’t normally post anything fashion related on my blog so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. The event itself was hosted by the beautiful Glenda Gilson (pictured below) and it featured fashion from my brands such as Primark/Pennys, Quiz, Debenhams, Marks & Spencers, French Connection. They even had themes running through their different runways.

SAM_1007SAM_1009SAM_1011 The first show was of the children’s fashion for summer 2016  and featured clothes from Mothercare and Next

Check it out on my youtube channel!

Then they moved onto a military themed style which featured clothes from Topman and River Island.

A major trend this year is the colour white so they did an entire collection using pieces from different brands in the colour white. I personally love the colour white so this was one of my favourite runways that they did ❤

Sportswear was also featured and they pulled the clothes from Adidas and Primark/Pennys

They had the gorgeous summer bikini and swimwear stuff from Debenhams and River Island! I love the green tropical one piece and the gorgeous yellow bikini. Will have to pick them up the second I get a chance to go shopping especially cause I think I may be going on holidays this year! woohoo!!

Last of the shows was occasion wear and OMG the green sparkly number was so beautiful! I need it in my life. She said it was from French Connection and Glenda Gilson herself is also wearing a dress from them also.

Here is a picture of her with all the models at the end of the event! Hope you guys enjoyed all the videos and picture. It was just something different for me and my blog 🙂
