LA Girl Pro Concealer

LA Girl Cosmetics has finally arrived in Ireland and with it, it has brought it’s very hyped about Pro Concealer for me to try. I’ve literally been wanting to try this concealer ever since I saw Tati from GlamLifeGuru rave about it on her YouTube Channel and to be honest, I’ve been following Tati for roughly three years now and love most if not all of her makeup and beauty recommendations so I knew this was a must have for me when I saw it in stores.

SAM_4277

I didn’t like it. Shocker, I know. I was genuinely expecting to love this product considering it comes in a cute little squeezy tube that has a nice brush tip applicator-you get 18mls of product for less than 5 euros, but, and there is a but,  I found the consistency of it and the coverage of it way to thin and watery for my liking. It literally didn’t do anything for me so I ended up using another concealer on over it …which kinda defeated the purpose of using it really.

SAM_4278

Colour wise, they have a large selection. Major brownie points for them in my book for that alone. More brands need this kind of selection when it comes to their face products. Unfortunately the pigmentation wasn’t there, it didn’t cover my dark circles and it didn’t get rid of the redness of the few pimples I tend to get when it’s my time of the month.

If you are looking for a concealer that’s around this price point but works in my opinion then check out the Collection Cosmetics Lasting Perfection and the Seventeen Skin Wow! Concealer which are both available at Boots.

Ren Minis

Don’t you just love minis! Mini perfume, mini shampoo and mini skincare 😍 their so small and tiny and that simply makes you what to use them even more than their full-sized versions. I’ve recently received a lovely package from Ren Skincare that contained the Ren Express Make-Up Remover, Ren Skincare: Flash HYDRO-BOOST and a few lovely minis as added samples to try out and I think it’s about thing I wrote about it.

sam_2007 The first of these is the Ren Skincare Daily Supplement Moisturising Cream and this is a lovely thick daily moisturiser. I personally love using this to mix in with heavier foundations to make them lighter in texture or even to lighten darker foundations (this works because its a white cream). I found this super hydrating and really great as a layer to pop on even without makeup just to protect the skin from the winter weather.

sam_2008I also got the Ren Skincare Glycolatic Radiance Renewal Mask which I’ve been meaning to try out for quite a while now. I should pop in a warning right now that this does contain Glycholic acid and so a good SPF is needed for the days following it’s use. I’ve used this twice now and both times I experienced a slight tingling to my skin which is generally expected when it comes to acid masks. I found it brightened my skin significantly which is perfect for evening the skin tone.

sam_2009Last of the minis is the Ren Skincare Instant Firming Beauty Shot which I know is a favourite among celebrities for use just before a big event and rightly so. It really tightens, lifts and smoothes out imperfection on the skin. This makes the face look airbrushed for a total of 24 hours and then unfortunately your back to requiring another shot of it. All Ren Skincare products are available at Castle Pharmacy, Waterford and Arnotts Dublin.

Nügg Beauty De-Stress Mask

I think this is the fourth mask that I’ll be featuring on the blog from Nügg Beauty. For any of the others check out the links at the bottom of this post but for today I’ll be focusing on their De-Stress mask. This mask is without a doubt a life saver! I mean as much I love the others in the range this one is simply the best for calming the skin and taking away any stress that the skin might be feeling. With the ever-changing weather and the bitter wind that Irish weather brings in it’s winter months, my skin, especially my hands have been feeling dry, sore and very very stressed.

sam_1768

Now masks are generally intended for the face but Nügg Beauty actually recommends their masks for use on the face, neck and hands (and if you have enough of one, the tops of the feet). I’ve been using this mask for my hands as of late and they’ve simply become refreshed. I apply a small amount, not to much, I don’t slather it on like I would if I was applying it to the face. Just enough to maintain a thin layer of it across the hands. Once the mask has sunk in I don’t wash it off, straight in with your favourite hand cream is the way to go (I’ve been using the Mandara Spa one …review coming soon!)

SAM_1785

I definitely recommend this in place of all of those sheet hand masks I’ve been seeing these days. It’s less messy, less expensive in the long run and more beneficial for the skin in my opinion. I always recommend you store the excess mask in a small acrylic pot once you open the pod.

Ren Skincare: Flash Hydro-Boost

SUPERCHARGE YOUR SKIN WITH WATER! is the motto of this particular new release from Ren Skincare called their Flash Hydro-Boost. Now they don’t market this product in the traditional sense by calling it a mask/moisturiser/serum but instead call it a treatment product to be used before applying your serum and moisturiser to inject a huge shot of moisture to your skin making it plump and fully hydrated.

sam_1996

The product itself comes in a 40ml tube that thankfully has a pump dispenser. The main way to use it is to ensure you apply it onto cleansed skin (I personally love using an exfoliating cleanser before this product. Try-Bioderma Launches HYDRABIO Range ). You then dispense a generous pump of it and dot it around the skin. The cream is water activated so in order to get the benefits of its use you have to add water. Much like working in your cleanser into your skin, you do the same to this with wetted fingertips. After working it in sufficiently you then let your skin soak up the excess and then move on to your regular routine. For more information on how to use this product check out the video which I’ve linked at the end of this post.

sam_1998

Texture wise the cream is a nice whipped consistency, that becomes nice and thin when wetted and massaged into the skin. You can use this every single day and to be honest I found the results of regular use to be really good for my skin. I no longer had any dry patches (I have combo skin for reference) and the areas of my skin which do become slightly oily became more regulated. It also creates a better canvas for makeup application because the skin is so hydrated which reduces the chances of the makeup caking or clinging to dry patches.

sam_2000

I personally have loved using this product and it has definitely become and essential in my skincare routine. You can pick this up from Castle Pharmacy Waterford and I believe Arnotts Dublin does stock the range as well. Check out their Ren Express Make-Up Remover as well for an epic eye make-up remover.

Nugg Beauty: Hydrating Mask

It’s no secret that I am a lover of Nugg Beauty, especially their masks. I’ve reviewed some of them before and for those of you who are interested I’ll be linking them below if you want to have a quick read. For this post I’ll be focusing on my favourite mask from them so far, their Hydrating Mask. This mask uses ingredients such as Camellia Seed Oil and Spirulina Extract to create a mask that I found quite nourishing on my skin. The texture of it is very balm like compared to previous masks from Nugg Beauty that were very gel-like in texture.

sam_1772

This mask like all the others comes in a single use pod, but you really get 2-3 uses out of a pod even if you overload your face with product. I simply store the rest in a plastic tub that you can get from Boots. I love the scent of this mask and I found that I could sleep in this one whereas the others that I’ve used I found to thick and sticky to sleep in. The mask itself is targeted toward dry and dehydrated skin but to be honest even if you don’t suffer from dehydration this is a great mask at just making your skin feel soft and smooth.

These masks are available to purchase from the Nugg Beauty website and you can also find them in Castle Pharmacy Waterford if your in the area 🙂

Ren Express Make-Up Remover

Something I’ve always struggled with is finding products that are able to effectively remove my eye makeup without causing my sensitive eyes to react to the ingredients in the actual remover. My personal favourite and Holy Grail Product as a eye makeup remover is the Lancôme Bi-Facil but with it retailing at 29 euros a pop it really does put a dent in my spending money so I’m always looking for an affordable option. I think I’ve found though I wouldn’t call it an exact dupe due to the texture and formula being completely different.

sam_2002

The Ren Skincare Express Makeup Remover is a cream makeup remover that can be used to remove an entire face of makeup. Me personally I only use it for the eyes as I like to remove my makeup via cleansing. Similar to Lancôme, you apply it onto a cotton pad, press it against the eyes for a few seconds and then wipe away the makeup. As much as I love this and will definitely be repurchasing it I don’t think it replaces my Lancôme remover simply because the Lancôme is a lot lighter on the eyes texture wise because it’s a liquid rather that than a cream.

sam_2004

The packaging of this product is very user friendly as it comes with a pump to dispense the product. I also love that it’s a clear bottle as you can see when your running close to empty. I tend to reserve the Lancôme remover for when I have heavy makeup and use this more on a daily basis. That being said this does remove waterproof mascara so well done to Ren Skincare for achieving that.

sam_2006

This currently retails for 14 pounds that’s roughly 15 euros and is available in Castle Pharmacy here in Waterford. I will have more reviews on Ren Skincare coming up on the blog soon!
