Madison Makeup CityGlam Palette

Recently I did a post reviewing the gorgeous Madison Makeup Berry Bold Palette and to be quite frank since I got that palette I have not put it down! It’s that good. I was very recently lucky enough to be sent their new highlighting, bronzer and blush palette and because I was already in love with their BerryBold palette I had very high exceptions for this one too.

I can safely say it did not disappoint whatsoever. It comes in the same thick cardboard flip-up palette packaging as the BerryBold but this one has this cool 3D graphic art design on it. Inside the palette you get a nice sized mirror, 6 highlighters, a blush shade and a bronzer.

Formulation wise it was a bit of a mixture, some of the highlights were nice and smooth and others were a bit chunky in consistency. All of them however gave a blinding highlight effect on the skin and I personally think there is a shade to suit all skin types in this palette.

The blush shade definitely has a very chunky texture to it but that doesn’t translate once it’s applied to the cheeks. It’s a gorgeous soft peach shade that is shot through with gold reflects/shimmer. I found this to be a great dupe for the iconic Nars Orgasm blush that almost everyone and their mom loves.

Finally the bronzer, it’s 100% matte and I love that it is. It’s got the softest texture of all the pans in this palette plus it’s really light in colour so it’s gonna work great for those of us who have ghost skin. Though it’s light, it is very buildable so even those who have a darker skin tone can wear this without a problem.

All in all this is an amazing palette if your looking to add a few new highlighters to your collection.  I will be honest and say that if I was given a choice between this and the BerryBold I would go for the BerryBold as that has both eyeshadows and 4 highlighters in the single palette. This is definitely one to go for however if you have loads of eyeshadow palettes and just want something for the rest of the face.

Natural Collection Revamp

Recently I was browsing the main make-up stands of Boots, as a beauty and makeup obsessed person tends to do whenever she has spare time on her hands, and noticed that their in-house brand Natural Collection has revamped their products. Now Natural Collection for those of you who don’t know is a brand that is owned directly by the Boots company and is mainly considered to be targeted at teenagers and people who are just starting out with using makeup. Their other makeup brands Seventeen & No.7 are meant to be for the older age groups but personally I think that’s rubbish. A good product is a good product & to be quite frank I like purchasing from any brand that I like-so sale tactics be damned.

Lady Luck had my back on the day as there was a three for two offer running on the brand. The first of the three products that I picked up is the Natural Collection Hydrating and Radiance Primer. I’ll be honest-I’ve always been wary of Natural Collection when it comes to their base products simply because they’ve always looked either heavy in the tube or way to dark. This primer however looked like a good shade to match my skin tone and with the new packaging I just knew I would have to try it out.

Formulation wise I really love this primer, it’s nice and light on the skin and skins in rather quickly too. It did feel super hydrating when I was applying it and because it’s a primer it did set to a slight tacky finish. With regards to the radiance side of things, there is no chunky glitter! Major brownie points as chunky glitter tends to always make an appearance with lower priced brands. I did find that this primer worked great when it was mixed in with foundation too.

My next two purchases as part of the three for two offer where blushes from their Blush & Glow selection. I got the shades Peach and Pink. These are beautiful compact powder blushes which have a distinct split between the two shades available in the pan. Both blushes have a shimmer/iridescent shade on one half and a soft matte shade on the other. Mixed together they work beautifully too.

For the Pink Blush & Glow you get an amazing warm pink shade for the matte side and an intense icy pink shade for the shimmer. I should point out at this point that you can if you want too, use the shimmer sides of these blushes for highlight, they are both sheer enough and highlighty enough for it.

The Peach Blush & Glow has slightly a better shade of matte blush for the coming winter months. It’s a stunning warm brick peach that’s not dissimilar too No.7’s Honey Blush (HG Blush for me). The shimmer side with this blush however is definitely more intense and obvious in colour in comparison to the Pink Blush & Glow. It’s this icy white shade that is shot through with gold reflects. Super pretty as an inner corner highlight.

I have to say I am a huge fan of this revamped makeup range that is Natural Collection. Let’s just hope they start bringing out some new products now that they’ve upped their game a bit.

Isadora Perfect Blush

If I had to choose a least favourite makeup item I would always say blush simply because I don’t feel like it suits me to be honest. I tend to do a full makeup look and always discard blush. When I do remember to add it I tend to go for more neutral, low pigmented shades so that it looks like I don’t have it on anyway. Recently I discovered the Isadora Perfect Blush and to be quick frank ever since I have loved applying blush and incorporating it in with my makeup application.

I have three different shades of these blushes, and they each come in the same basic black packaging. They have a clear area to their lids in order for you to see what the shade is without having to actually open it. Normally I would be complaining about how the compact has no mirror but because it’s blush and not powder or eyeshadow I think it was a good decision not to add a mirror. Nobody really tops up their blush throughout the day like they would their powder or concealer.

My favourite shade from the three is actually what appears to be the brightest out of them. The shade Pinky Peach is this gorgeous muted peachy pink shade that has a shot of subtle iridescence running through it. I have to say the formulation of these is simply beautiful, they blend in so flawlessly into the skin and don’t cling to any dry patches what so ever.

My second favourite has to be 64 Frosty Rose and to be honest I don’t think it’s named very well, this is more of a peachy brown shade than rose. It also happens to be the most pigmented of the three but can definitely be sheered out by blending it in with your brush.

The texture of these blushes is like butter and everytime I pull them out of my makeup drawer I simply have to swatch them just to feel their texture it’s so nice.

Last of the blushes is called Dusty Rose and this one is named perfectly. It’s that really brown undertoned pink shade that tends to go with any makeup look. That said I’m not a huge fan of pink blushes and so I found the peachy shades a lot more faltering on the skin.

I definitely have a new appreciation for blush, and now genuinely love using it on the days that I decide to do my makeup. These blushes retail for 12.95 euros each and will be available to purchase on March 17th.

Lancôme Spring 2017 Colour Collection

Love is in the air! Especially with Valentine’s Day coming up next month. Nothing inspires the idea of love more than the city of Paris and it seems the creative mind of Lisa Eldridge has that same thinking. Being Lancôme’s creative director, she’s designed their new Spring Collection all around the Parisian City itself. This collection is so beautiful that I would want to own these products simply to display them. The colours she’s chosen for the collection are very pastel shades and perfect for getting that spring, fresh look to the skin. Have a look at the collection and let me know if your going to  run out and buy the highlighter like me 😉

Flormar Event Tutorial

For those of you who have read my previous post than you would know that I attended the Flormar beauty event that took place in Castleknock Hotel and Country Club on the 18th of September. It was amazing and if you want to know everything that happened then go on an read that post because in this one I’m only going to be writing about the tutorial that was done. The amazing Michelle Regazzoli of MRSMakeup is a famous Irish Makeup Artist and she did a gorgeous bronzed makeup look on the model, Lauren, who is now the new face of Flormar.

In this post I’m going to be going through all the steps she took to create the look that she did. Unfornately I only have images of the final look so your gonna have to use your own intuition when recreating this look.

  •  Beginning with the T-zone area of the face, Apply Flormar Illuminating Primer Makeup Base using the Flawless Wonder Brush No.7
  • Apply the Flormar Double Radiance Primer in a C-shape around the eyes (where you would apply highlighter) using the same brush.
  • Once your primer has set and dried down, move onto the foundation and apply the Flormar Perfect Coverage Foundation using the Flawless Large Angled Brush.
  • Blend the foundation into the skin using the Flawless Wonder Brush No.8
  • Neutralize the eyelids using the Flormar Perfect Coverage Liquid Concealer
  • Prime them using the Flormar Perfection Primer in the shade 04 Bright Illuminator.

  • Starting with the shade EB03 Brown from the Flormar Matte Mono Eyeshadow and apply it all over the eyelid right up to the brow bone.
  • Apply the shade EB04 Dark Ash Brown to the outer corner of the eye and make sure to blend this shade through the crease to create definition.
  • Using the shade M11 Carbon Black and a small brush, define the shape of the outer corner of the eye.
  • From the Flormar 06 Pink Desert palette, apply the lightest shade of the five to the lid area.
  • Press the orange, middle shade from the 004 Golden Caramel palette over the top, avoiding the inner corner.
  • Apply more of the eye primer into the inner corner to brighten the entire eye look.
  • Apply the Flormar Gel Liner in the shade Gel Black in a winged shape to elongate the eye.
  • Apply Flormar Spider Lash Mascara in Deep Black
  • It is optional at this point whether or not you wish to add lashes. For the tutorial, lashes were added and the makeup artist used them from the brand SoSueMe and they are the Chloe lashes from the range.
  • On the lower lash line, reapply the black eye shadow and then blend it using the brown shadow that was used in the crease.
  • Apply the Flormar Triple Action Mascara onto the lower lashes.
  • Finish the eyes with a pop of colour on the waterline using the Flormar Eye Liner in the shade 112.

  • Fill in the brows with the Flormar Gel Liner in the shade Bole Brown
  • Once their filled in, crave out the shape of them by outlining them with concealer above and under the arch only.
  • Set the concealer using loose powder

  • Contour the face using the Flawless Contouring Palette
  • Set the cream contour with the Flormar Bronzer
  • Add Blush (Shade used is Touch of Apricot)
  • Highlight using Flormar Dual Gold

  • Line the lips with the Flormar Lip Liner in the shade 224
  • Apply the lipstick in the shade L10 Chic Aubergine
  • Finish with a touch of lipgloss in the centre of the lips in the shade 112 Royal Purple.

The entire look was then set with the Flormar Makeup Fix Spray. I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial. I know there wasn’t that many images to help with the step by step but hopefully it was easy enough to follow. If not please ask me to go over any of the steps below and I will be more than happy too!
