Bare Minerals Invisible Glow Highlighting Powders

If I had to pick a high end brand other than Urban Decay to be my favourite it would definitely be BareMinerals. There is very little that I’ve tried from BareMinerals that I didn’t like and because of that I have quite a few of their products within my cosmetics collection. Recently I picked up their Invisible Glow powders because ever since I discovered the soft illuminator from the L.O.V Fall Collection 2017 I have been hooked on subtle highlights for my complexion. It just looks so pretty and natural and soft.

There are two shades available in the range and the first shade is the lightest of the two. It’s called Fair to Light and is a white pearl-scent shade with peach shimmer running very, very subtly through it. The powder is very finely milled and on the face it blends out seamlessly without any harsh lines. The shimmer isn’t chunky but lovely and soft almost candle lit glow like. If I was to compare this to anything currently on the market I would say it’s very similar to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders.

The second shade is called Medium and is definitely darker in colour than the previous shade. This is very much a peach toned highlighter but again because it’s so softly and finely milled it looks very subtle on the skin. I personally like taking this down a bit onto my cheek bones because I find the colour of it warms up my skintone whilst adding a nice glow to it overall.

These compacts currently retail for 30 euros each and I picked mine up from Debenhams Ireland who tend to do discount offers of 10-15% of makeup on a monthly basis so you can pick up this compact for less than 30 for sure.

BareMinerals Coffee Morning

So we didn’t have coffee but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the amazing day that Bareminerals put together in Debenhams on Friday the 7th of April. For those of you would don’t know, the Debenhams in Waterford city isn’t the biggest of them but I will say it is one of the nicest. The beauty section isn’t over packed with dozens of brands, the concession brands rule over one area of the store with their incredible fashion line and Debenhams own line of clothes takes control of the other half. The top floor is delegated to the menswear, kitchen, homeware and should you want to actually have a coffee, the restaurant.

I was invited along with my mother by the lovely Mary, who takes care of all things Bareminerals over in Debenhams Waterford. Upon arrival we were allowed to sit in one of the chairs that was arranged around the makeup station which was set up for the demo. Each chair had a goodie bag and inside we received some skincare samples, a perfume sample (Guerlain Mon Guerlain) and a sample of the BareMinerals BareSkin Foundation which I already own so if you want a review of it let me know in the comments below.

We were treated with a live demo of a natural neutral look using all of the new skincare and makeup released from Bareminerals over the last few months. Tracey (pictured) from Bareminerals was actually the one who did the makeup on the day. While watching the demo we drank a glass of oh so luxurious 7up and ate Popcorn! Definitely an interesting combo but I loved it all the same :).

The morning ended with me needing to get my hands on the undereye detailer brush that she used to buff the eyeshadow under the eyes. It shaped almost like a chair so it makes it so perfect for blending in small areas. Unfornately it was sold out but I got the new Bareminerals BarePro Pressed Foundation in the shade 01 Fair instead. Let me know if you want a review of that too.

Jane Iredale PurePressed Mineral Foundation

Powder Foundations are not something I normally feature on my blog simply because I personally prefer liquid. That being said I have used powder foundation before and have really enjoyed using it. The one I used previously was the Bare Minerals Mineral Foundation and so when I got the chance to try out the Jane Iredale’s version I could not say no.

Jane Iredale’s foundation system works a little bit like MAC cosmetics in that you buy the compact and the foundation pan and simply refill the compact. I have to say that the Jane Iredale compact is one of the most beautiful compacts that I have ever seen. It’s made out of thick sturdy gold-coloured metal and has the letter J embossed on the cover of the lid. Inside the empty compact you’ll find a nice sized mirror and in the area were the pan of foundation would go is the saying “do what you love” making the entire compact so personal and special.

My shade in the foundation is Light Beige and I find the coverage to be light-medium when applied. For me I use this foundation over the Jane Iredale Dream Tint as that acts like a primer & brighter and allows the foundation to adhere better to my skin. Again like MAC I found layering this over liquid foundation gives that flawless full cover look. The powder has a soft texture to it and is really finely milled so it really doesn’t exaggerate any dry patches or cake on the face.

The powder & compact are available to purchase from the Jane Iredale website which I’ve linked below. Let me know of any powder foundations you’ve tried because since trying this one I’ve been itching to discover more 🙂

BareMinerals Pop of Passion Lip-Oil Balm

“Lips that pop with pure passion”

Is the motto that comes with the  Pop of Passion lip-oil balms that bareMinerals have launched last summer. They’ve released 8 shades within the range and the color that I picked up is the shade CANDY POP.Pop2

Getting it out there now, I really like this product. Let’s start with packaging, each lip-oil balm comes in these gorgeous bright fun boxes that correspond with the actual products lip shade, which is a small thing but its still a great feature. I know the countless times I’ve selected a shade I like within a lip product, only to come home and find it’s the wrong one because the sales-lady got it mixed up because they’re all packed in the same coloured boxes. So the outer box coming in the shade of the lip product is a great thing for me.

Inside the pretty box, comes the tube of lip-oil balm. I have to say, even though the tube is bright and summery it isn’t all that sturdy. I find that the lid does come off a bit too easily, so I don’t know how this would fair in the constant movement of my purse which is why I’ve been keeping it in it’s original outer box (normally I throw it away the minute I use the lip product).

Pop3

As I’ve mentioned the shade that I got is CANDY POP and this is your traditional bubblegum, rosie pink shade. The formulation of these is long lasting. When you first apply it, it does give an intense colour pay-off but as you wear it and eat etc,. it does reduce itself down to a stain. I have to say I also found it to be very hydrating and moisturizing on the lips without that typical greasy feeling you can sometimes get with some oil based products.

Pop4

Initial Application (High Pigmentation)

Pop5

After A Couple Of Hours (Stain Pigmentation)

As far as I know these lip products are added to the bareMinerals permanent line so there’s no rush to get them. I bought mine for 19 euros but you can get them for cheaper if the store does 10% offers on its beauty products throughout the seasonal months.

That’s it for now guys. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post.
