Hey Everyone! Just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas 🙂 I hope everyone enjoys the time off and the festivities.
Hey Everyone! Just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas 🙂 I hope everyone enjoys the time off and the festivities.
It’s officially December and though the majority of people have started their Christmas preparations way back in mid-November, I personally couldn’t bring myself to do it. It’s simply way way too early and this year has been the worst with some stores having Christmas stock laid out even before Halloween.
Ridiculousness aside, I thought this year I would finally try my hand at writing a gift guide to help anyone who is struggling for a gift idea. Quick warning-this will be a long post 😉 .
One of my favorite presents to ever get for people is jewellery and I personally think nobody does jewellery better than Pandora. I think I own almost every variation of their charm bracelets bar the essence one but nothing beats the gorgeousness of the bangle.
This is a simple, shape holding bracelet, that makes a statement even without any charms on it. I find it more comfortable to wear than the traditional loose bracelet and it doesn’t lose it’s shape when it’s filled with charms.
The great thing about Pandora as a present is that if you’re not into their bracelets than you can always pick up a pair of gorgeous sterling silver earrings or a simple ring to give to someone to remember you by.
For the book worm in your life, I highly suggest the Dior Catwalk, which is a book all about Dior (duh!). More specifically it features every single trend that Dior has ever brought to the Catwalk over the years it’s been a high fashion label.
The book itself features images of the various models and clothes design by Dior and it gives comprehensive details about each trend in short, easy to read paragraphs. Any fashion and beauty lover would love to own and showcase this stunning read on their bookshelf. If Dior isn’t a brand they love then Thames and Hudson bookstore have a variety of various beauty related books, so one of them should be a perfect fit.
When it comes to functional beauty gifts, nothing beats getting someone a good brush set. For me, the brand that always comes to mind whenever someone says brushes is Real Techniques and my oh my do they do stunning brushes. They also make life easy as most of their brushes already come as parts of sets so the job is already done for you. Another great thing about Real Techniques is that their brushes are affordable so you may even find yourself treating yourself to a set as 70% of time, they can be found on offer with a buy one get one half price tag on them. I also find Primark/Pennys brushes great for a gift but you do need to go to the hassle of purchasing a good few of them and popping them together to create a set if you plan on getting them as a gift.
Fragrances and Perfumes always are an easy option when thinking of a gift for someone however I always find them a bit of a hazard when purchasing as not everyone likes the same scents.
I found this lovely subtle scent from Next called Just Pink that I personally think is soft enough and feminine enough that anyone who simply likes perfume will like it.
You can purchase it on it’s own but I found this gift set with the matching body lotion for 16 euros, the same price as the 100ml bottle of it so you’re basically getting the body lotion free.
I don’t think I can finish this gift guide without at least mention some amazing makeup ideas that would make lovely gifts. The first is for anyone who loves and adores lip products. We all know that one person that has 16 lip products in their bag on a night out and when you ask them what lipstick they’re wearing they’ll rattle off 4 different products.
TKMaxx is the place to go to find amazing valued lip gift sets. I picked up this one by a brand called Cherimoya and it contains four metallic liquid lipsticks. This retailed for only 9.99 euros so not only are you getting a lovely gift but you’re also not breaking the bank.
Last product I have to mention is the Urban Decay Moondust palette. Yes I know, it looks beautiful and it’s a 100% glitter palette. Honestly though I think it’s one of those gifts that can be given and even if the person doesn’t use, they will still love it.
I love mine and I think I only ever really use it on the rare night out or for parties but I have no regrets about it being in my collection and I will probably never get rid of it.
A cute idea to add to you’re Christmas Tree or even as a stocking stuffer, is these adorable hangable baubles by Bloomtown UK. You get three in a box and I will be going through what is in each one over on my InstaStories (@SooSoBeauty) so make sure you’re following me in Instagram so you don’t miss that.
That’s it guys. I hope I’ve given you some inspiration about where to go or what to buy for Xmas. If you have another suggestions please leave them below so everyone else can gain ideas too.

I want to say a huge huge thank you to Avril from the blog A Paler Shade of Beauty for nominating me for this tag. Avril is an amazing beauty blogger, and constantly uploads amazing content to her blog, all while battling with Lyme Disease-so major brownie points to her. If you don’t follow her already, please do!
This tag has really been created just as a way for you the readers of this blog to get to know more about me the blogger. Before we jump in to the questions that Avril has chosen for me, let’s get the rules out of the way:
Now on to the fun bit and that’s the questions!
What is your favourite lipstick?
This is probably the easiest question ever! Which is probably a surprise considering how many lippies I actually try out for this blog. My favourite lippie is actually the one I wore on my wedding day and that’s MAC Russian Red lipstick. I think I will forever have this lipstick in my collection.
Who was the first blogger you followed?
The very first blogger I ever followed was actually before I ever started this blog and that was the gorgeous Fleur Bell from Fleur De Force. I absolutely love Fleur and think her content and YouTube videos are always so fresh and amazingly edited.
What does blogging mean to you?
Blogging to me really means a lot because it’s simply the main way I can achieve any time to myself with something that I love. I’m married and with marriage comes the maintenance of a household so I don’t always have time for hobbies but blogging gives me that outlet
How did you come up with your blog name?
My real name is Thuraya but my family, ever since I was four has always called me So So which has the Arabic meaning of adorable. I also like everything that is sophisticated in life and so the name So Sophisticatedbeauty was born.
What shoe size are you?
Random! 😛 lolz but I’m a size 6/39
What is your best feature about yourself?
I’ll be honest, it’s definitely has to be my chest! It makes any low cut top I wear look amazing and I like that it makes sweetheart necklines extra sexy 😉 .
What is you favourite thing to do to relax?
Also easy! Read. Currently I’m reading Apprentice in Death by Nora Robert (under the pseudonym J.D.Robb) which is a fiction crime novel.
Who is the one famous person you would like to meet?
I’ve actually already met her: Sali Hughes! and you can read all about that here: Meeting Sali Hughes
What is your biggest luxury?
That would have to be jewellery. I’m the type of person who likes good jewellery that doesn’t lose it’s colour or dull after a while. As a result I can tend to walk into Pandora and drop 200 euros in a single day just picking out jewellery.
What is your biggest achievement?
It would have to be the BSc (H) degree in Pharmaceutical Science that I sweated, cried and screamed in agony to get through. But it was worth it because it’s honestly thought me so much!
What is your dream/ultimate goal?
This is a hard question because I honestly don’t know. In life, I hope that I can continue to life happily with my hubby. In my blog, I hope it can continue to grow and in my studies, next year I’m back in college so it’s just a wonder to me as it is to you guys as to were I’ll end up in the end.
Those are all the questions that Avril set up for me to answer and now here are the bloggers that I have nominated to do this tag also!
And here are my 11 Questions for you guys!:
Looking forward to all of your posts and thank you again Avril ♥

Sleek Makeup definitely has to be considered my favourite drugstore brand. It’s definitely the one that has the majority of my makeup storage space and I’m always adding to it as it’s so affordable as a brand. For the spring and summer Sleek Makeup have released 3 new shades of their Matte Me Liquid Lipsticks and 3 new shades of their VIP lipsticks. I quite literally drooled over them when I saw them on Twitter (Follow Me: @SooSoBeauty). When I managed to find a Sleek Makeup stand I just had to pick up on of the newly launched shades and a little extra as always.
The Matte Me lip cream shade that I got is the shade Crushed Lavender 036 and this is a very pale lilac purple shade. The packaging of it is like all of Sleek’s lipgloss and liquid lipsticks square tubes. It has the logo written on the handle of the applicator and the applicator is your traditional doe-foot.
The shade itself is absolutely beautiful but be warned that it does make your teeth look very yellow. Also I found that it’s not the most faltering shade to be worn with minimal makeup, you really need to go full glam to make this kind of shade work.
The something extra that I got is their Enchanted Forest 098 eyeshadow palette. My main reason for picking up this palette is because I saw Beauty Blogger Nadiene (@JustNadiene) do an incredible makeup look using this and the soon-to-be released Distorted Dreams highlighting palette so I knew I just had to have it in my collection.
The highlighting palette for those of you who are curious will be available to purchase from the 31st of May. Their also releasing three new metallic liquid lipsticks on the same date to go with the launch of the highlighting palette.
Last item I actually got for free as the offer in store was spend over 15 euros (which I did) and get the Sleek Makeup Dip It Eyeliner in the shade Black for free. This is a matte liner that has a thick felt tip as an applicator. I tend to not like these kind of brushes for my liners but it was free so I wasn’t going to not get it lolz :P.
Let me know what new purchases you’ve made recently and whether or not your excited for their new highlighter palette! I know I am 🙂
When it comes to purchasing affordable makeup the main place to head to here in Ireland is Boots. But Boots doesn’t really carry every single brand and I’m forever stalking the UK beauty brands Instagrams and crying over the fact that I just can’t get these products here. You guys are probably gonna say “just order it online” but I’m personally the type of person that has to swatch everything before buying. It’s why I do overview posts of collection rather than just buying them online and featuring them.
Time to get to the point, I recently spotted, while having a nice day out with the hubby, a Superdrug in Wexford Town, Ireland. Because of time constraints I couldn’t pop in for than a minute but asking on Twitter a lot of people redirected me to the Superdrug available in Omni Park Shopping Centre in Dublin , where I was headed over the weekend. Let me show all the naughty purchases that I got and FYI I was really feeling spendy on the day 🙂 .
I picked up a few skincare bits from the B is For Beautiful which is exclusive to Superdrug. To be honest most of the brands that I got products from are exclusive to Superdrug. I got their Glycolic Cleansing Peel, which is a nice exfoliating face wash that has Glycolic Acid in it. It also comes with a muslin cloth that you use wet to take it off.
I got a bottle of their Hyalronic Acid Facial Spritz which is meant to be a refreshing spray that can be used on bare skin and over makeup to re-hydrate the skin instantly.
The was an offer in store that when you purchase an product from the line you get a packet of their wipes free so I got that too.
The next item that I got is one of the new scents from the fragrance brand So…? I don’t normally pick up inexpensive perfume because I have quite a lot of higher end bottles on the go but I’ve always wanted to try these fragrances. They had an offer that made the price of the bottle 4.95 euros so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to check it out. The scent that I got is Dark Romance which is a very strong and sexy scent perfect for wearing on a night out with friends.
Everything else that I got is makeup and the main brand that I bought from is MUA Cosmetics which I gotta say is an amazing brand simply for the value of the products. Their so inexpensive!! I got four products in total and all of them are highlighters. Don’t judge lolz.
The first is one that the minute I knew Superdrug had MUA I wanted to get. This is the Liquid Highlight Cushion in the shade Glow Beam. It’s a perfect example of those cushion foundations except this one has a highlighter instead. The highlighter itself is a very gold toned highlight with a silver undertone.
I also got the Light Illuminating Highlighter Stick and this one I’m hoping will be a favourite like my Maybelline Master Strobing Stick. I also picked up one of their Undress Your Skin powder highlighters in the shade Rosewood Glimmer. The one I was after was actually the blue shade version but it was out of stock. This one is beautiful though, a nice deep dual-chrome red that would look incredible as an inner corner highlight.
Last of the MUA highlighters that I got is the Strobe and Glow Highlighting Kit. This is a dual highlighter set where the bottom layer of the compact is a cream highlighter and the top is a powder. The idea is that you layer these one on top of the other which I tend to do with highlighters anyway. A highlight ain’t a highlight unless it can be seen from space.
Makeup Revolution was another brand that they had fully stocked in the store however I didn’t see any of the Skin Kiss Highlighters that I wanted or much else for that matter. I did pick their Aqua Seal Primer and Sealant which they say can be used as a primer or on top of eyeshadows to seal them in for a longer lasting look. Thought I would give it a go but to be honest they don’t really give you much in it. I also got one of the Vivid Baked Blush in the shade Bang Bang You’re Dead.
A few products were on clearance so I took full advantage and went through the stock meticulously. I managed to get two of the B is For Beautiful Vibrant Eye Shimmers which are cream eyeshadows very similar to MAC Paint Pots. The shades that I got are 057 Copper & 146 Royal. These were only 65 cents a piece. Total bargain!
Last of my haul is the Tanya Burr Cosmetics eyeshadows palette in Midnight Smoulder. This is a quad and the fours shadows in it are very blue in colour. I have to say swatching them I like the pigmentation however I did find them a bit powdery in texture. This was also on clearance I got it for only 77 cents. Another bargain if I do say so myself.
As an added bonus to an incredible shopping day the girls in Superdrug actually gave me a free tote bag to go with my purchases. Woohoo! Also if you guys would like me to review any of the products that I got in todays haul please let me know in the comments below.

Tesco isn’t a place where I would normally go beauty shopping, I tend to do that in Boots. Tesco is more of the weekly shop type of place when it comes to me however I was recently browsing their many aisles and to my pleasure and great surprise they had a lot of their beauty aisle on clearance. I kind of went a bit crazy in all honesty and I thought it would be fun to show you guys what I got.
I got a mixture between haircare products and bodycare products and one makeup product too. First up is the Garnier Ultimate Blends shampoo and conditioner in Mystic Olive. I’m currently using the exact same shampoo and conditioner except in Delicate Oat from the range and I am really lovely the feel of my hair thanks to them so I thought I would pick up a different one.
Also for my cleaning my hair I got this Tresemme Pre-Conditioner which is a conditioner that you use before shampooing your hair. The idea is that conditioner weighs down hair and so by using it before hand, that weighed down feeling can be prevented.
The L’oreal Fibrology range is not my favourite range in the world because I simply do not like the shampoo and conditioner from that range. That said I am a huge fan of their thickening serum and their thickness booster so when I saw that the lather was reduced I simply had to get one. You use this in two ways, you can either dispense a small amount and apply it to the base of the scalp, wait a few minutes and then rinse or you can mix it in with a hair mask and use the mixed mixture as a two-in-one product. I tend to do both depending on what my hair needs/wants.
Toni & Guy was hugely discounted and I absolutely love their shampoo and conditioners but have never tried anything else from the line. I ended up picking the Glamour Serum Drops which is an oil based serum that helps prevent frizz and fly aways.
I also got their Casual Radiating Tropical Elixir which is a treatment product to be used on wet hair before styling. I’ve already tried this and love it. It doesn’t leave any greasy residue on the hair and I’ve found my hair feels lighter and softer with this in it than without it.
Last haircare product that I got is the Toni & Guy Classic Shine Gloss Serum and this is really what it says on the tin. Its a finishing serum that is used to make your hair look and feel super soft and shiny. All of these products where literally less than a fiver each! bargain much :).
Bodycare wise I got 2 deodorants, one body wash and one bath product. The bath product is the Simple Bath Cream and to be frank I got this simply because I love baths and have one at least twice a week.
I got the Nivea Lemon & Oil body wash which is another old favourite. It has an amazing fresh citrus scent that is absolutely perfect for using in the shower first thing in the morning to perk you up. I also love that it has small dispersable oil beads in it that gently exfoliate the body as you work it in with your lofa.
Deodorant wise I got one of the So…? fragranced deodorants in the scent Sexy which is a nice rich musky scent. I love the red bottle that is comes in and though I don’t like to use aerosol deodorants anymore because they contain aluminium I couldn’t pass up on the scent of this.
Last item from the bodycare products that I got is this Fresh Kidz Deodorant. This is the typical type of deodorant that I like to buy. It’s fragrance free so it doesn’t ruin my perfume smell, aluminium free and parabens free. Plus its a roller ball so it’s good for the environment too!.
Last and final item is the only makeup item that I got. This is another favourite of mine and to be honest I haven’t had it in awhile. The Garnier SkinActive BB Cream in the shade light is one of the best BB creams for those days when you don’t want anything heavy on your face. It light in texture and has amazing coverage too.
If you guys want reviews for any of the products that I’ve shown you in this haul please let me know in the comments below and I will definitely get on it 🙂

The time we take to apply our make-up is sometimes the only real time we get to ourselves in a day. It’s odd isn’t it to think of such a simple routine task in that way. That we do this everyday without a second thought to it. Make-up for me is an art and I always tend to get caught up in the make-up itself, the products and the process of applying it all. I always find it a bit like magic the way a simple dab of concealer can remove a night’s restless sleep. Or how a swipe of bronzer across the temples can make you seem like you’ve spent a week in the sun. Using make-up to create what I call magic requires something important and that something is a place to do it all.
For me my vanity is my favourite spot in my entire bedroom. It may not be the Instagram worthy image of a vanity but it works for me and I love spend the few minutes or hours (depending on where I’m headed) doing my make-up at it. Everyones vanity is different and so for that reason I’m not going to simply show you my vanity, instead I’ve pulled together some inspiration photos from the web of what I would design as a vanity table/set-up if I was ever given the chance too. Most of my images are from the website Arhaus, which is a high-end furniture stockist. I’ve used this site because they have some really nice, vintage and unique looking pieces which I think suit perfectly for my style of vanity designing.
I think one of the main items a girl needs as part of her vanity is of course the main desk where she can prop and display all the pretty things that her heart desires. I personally have fallen in love with the Arhaus Isla Mirrored Writing Desk because of it’s worn slightly distressed look. I also love that it has a few small drawers as part of it meaning you can store your favourite day to day products that you use as part of your makeup routine. Another desk that I adore is the Amelia Writing Desk In Ivory but this one comes in second due to it’s lack of drawers.
I would totally style both of these desks with natural light lamps on either side of the mirror area, similar to the photo above. I would also probably display my brushes in brush holders and have beautiful feature plates to hold some jewellery pieces that I like to wear regularly. Flowers are also a great option to brighten up ones vanity as are candles, especially if they smell nice.
If simply side lamps aren’t sufficient I would totally go with a floor lamp to hang over slightly, or be taller than your vanity in order to add the proper lighting to ease your makeup application. With any vanity, the chair is just as essential as the table itself. This is one is slightly more difficult to choose as you need it to be both nice looking as well as comfortable. Most people tend to go with the fluffy types of chairs such as the one in the image above.
Me however I’m more into the chair that have more of an old fashioned look to them, that brings together vintage with the modern. Something like the Arhaus Tenley 28 chair or the Arhaus Merle Corner Chair though I think this would require some sort of cushion to rest your back against.
The small details are the things that are going to bring the entire room together, rugs, trays to display the many perfumes one owns, a mirror on the way in case you don’t want a table top one. Another element though it’s not one I think everyone needs is a chest of drawers. For me it’s simply to sort all the makeup and skincare products I have that I require for my job as a blogger. This would be displayed somewhere close to my vanity, I may even prop the perfume tray on top of it too.
This post was really fun for me to do and I think it’s a really nice to put some thought into what one would consider their Magic Place, were they can relax, enjoy time to themselves and do whatever magically act they desire. It may not even be putting on makeup! Maybe your a hair fanatic who loves trying different hair styles, or a person who just likes décor and making places look pretty either way I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and that the images that I’ve used have given you some sort of idea of what kind of vanity I would adore to have. That said I do love my basic wooden vanity all the same 🙂
