Catrice Kaviar Gauche 2017

A new limited edition collection has been released by Catrice Cosmetics for the month of November and it’s another collection based on Kavier Gauche which is a popular German bridal brand. This is the third limited edition collection that Catrice has released based on Kaviar Gauche. The collection I think will be available up until mid January.

🍁 🍂 L.O.V Fall Collection 2017 🍂 🍁

It’s official, Halloween is over, November is here and the weather is simply put freezing. Let’s not put a dampener on things though shall we, as with colder weather comes richer makeup. By richer I mean we trade out the soft shades of peach and pinks for the richer browns and plums, we swap those coral lips for rich berry tones and there is no better collection on the highstreet at the moment than L.O.V Cosmetic’s Fall Collection which has an amazing foundation, a gorgeous palette and just the right about of vampyness to it’s lipsticks.

For most people, myself included, when the colder months come around we tend to switch out or regular foundation for something with a little more coverage. L.O.V has released a new foundation for it’s fall collection called the EXTRAordinary foundation. Packaging wise it looks like it’s going to be a cushion foundation and to be honest that’s what I thought it was when I initially saw it. It’s not, instead it’s got this really cool pump system to it that allows you to dispense just the right amount of product.

It’s packaging also makes it extremely handy for travel as it has a mirror, sponge and because of it’s dispensing system there is no risk of it spilling all over your purse/bag. Coverage wise I would call it a medium but it can definitely be built up. I have this foundation in the shade No.025 Sand Sophistication which is the second shade within the range. A bit dark for my pale complexion but it’s easily fixed with a few lightening drops (I use The Body Shop ones).

Once I have my foundation done I tend to like to move onto the rest of face especially if I’m not doing a strong eye makeup look. The first palette I have is L.O.V Cosmetic’s The Contourious Palette which is a 4-in-1 palette that can be used to sculpt and define the face. This palette has a love satin finish powder, the perfect sculpting shade for fair skintones, a gorgeous rose gold blush that is very comparable to Nars’s Orgasm blush and the worst cream highlighter I have ever used.

Yes a shocker at the end I know. To be frank the Luminizer is a major let down in this palette. It’s the only one that has a cream formulation to it and as a cream it feels very waxy. With regards to luminizing -it doesn’t, it simply reflects the chunky glitter that is suspended in the waxy cream. I know I’m being very harsh on this highlighter but that’s only because I was very impressed with everything else in this palette.

The powders are so silky soft, and blend to perfection. The blush has just the right pigmentation and is such a stunning shade. I highly recommend the contour shade in this palette if you’re pale and constantly struggle to find a shade to suit your skintone. The palette also comes with a mirror so it’s also great for travel. With so many redeeming qualities to this palette, you can see why I was so disappointed in the highlighter shade.

With the disappointment I suffered with the highlighter in the Contourious palette above, I really didn’t have high hopes for the Glowrious Palette. Boy was I mistaken. This palette makes up for that one crappy highlighter big time. Okay so in this palette you get 2 highlighter and a bronzer. The highlighters come in two different finishes; subtle and intense. Both of them are super creamy and buttery in texture and blend flawlessly.

My favourite out of the two is weirdly the soft illuminator, which is weird I know because I normally go for the highlight seen from space kind of look but this is a highlighter that gives you that candle light soft focus glow. It’s so soft and subtle and absolutely pretty to look at that’s for sure.

The bronzer is super glowly and one I only really recommend you use in the summer when you have a nice tan on.

Let’s talk eyes and L.O.V Cosmetics has gone and released three gorgeous palettes this season. I have the 710 palette called Devoted to Roses and as the name suggests it’s very blush pink, soft mauve toned that just labels it as a fall palette. I love the packaging of this palette! Hands down the best of all the palettes, with it’s rubberized feel it’s like I have a Nars palette without the big price tag.

The eyeshadows themselves are stunning. Texture wise they’re like butter and blend beautifully on the eyes with little to no fallout. I did find that the pigmentation of them was way better with a primer than without so I do recommend you use one with these shadows.

There are so many amazing mascaras to choose from when it comes to L.O.V Cosmetics but one of their more unique products is actually their Lash Primer and dual-ended mascara. The Lash primer is exactly what it says on the tin, a primer for your lashes to be applied before your actual mascara. I honestly found that this product made such a difference to my mascara, even the ones that I normally use and have fantastic lashes with-this product made them work even better.

It’s a white mascara that has a nice fat brush that really helps elongate the lashes and volumize them too. The Liason Mascara from L.O.V Cosmetics is a fiber lash mascara and has this really tiny brush to it that makes getting at every hair on your eyes so easy. Makes for getting super long lashes.

The other side has a nice black liner on it. It’s not the blackest I’ve ever used-that would be Avon Super Shock Liner and the L’oreal Infallible Gel Crayon-but it is a good black liner that lasts quite a good time on the eyes.

Last two products I have to share from the collection are both lip products and each one comes from a different range within the collection. The first is from the LipAffair Mattes and is in the shade Black Mood. Love, Love, Love the colour of this lipstick! Such an amazing statement lip for the winter months and a nice change to the typical red’s that we tend to see this time of year. I personally like pairing this lipstick with either MAC’s Nightmoth Lip Liner or the lip liner that I featured in my Catrice Dawid Tomaszewski Collection review.

The other lipstick is from their LipAffair Metallic range and this is very much hitting the nail on the head when it comes to the metalized lips trend we’re seeing everywhere at the moment. The shade that I have is called Cosmic Aura and is this stunning crimson red that has been shot through with metallized copper shimmer. So beautiful and definitely the shade to have for next month (I am not saying the C word-it’s way to early!).

Let me know what you’re favourite piece from the collection is and whether or not you’ve tried L.O.V Cosmetics yet?

Catrice Dawid Tomaszewski Collection

For those of you who don’t know who Dawid Tomaszewski is, he’s an art fashion designer and I’ll be quite honest before seeing this Catrice collection in stores I didn’t know who he was either and only really researched him because of this collection. To be frank knowing who he is isn’t really important other than when it comes to his obvious signature on the packaging of this collection and the colour selection. Everything else is down to the incredible formula’s that Catrice Cosmetics is well known for at an affordable price point.

Now I couldn’t get my hands on the entire collection unfortunately but hopefully the products that I am going to be reviewing in this post will be enough to give you guys an idea on whether or not the collection is for you. The main star of the collection is the Eye & Face Palette and this retailed for 9 euros which, considering it’s Catrice, was a bit up there in price in comparison to they’re normal pricing of 5.50 euros for LE Palettes.

The palette contains a highlighter, a blush and 8 eyeshadows plus a mirror which all come packaged in this amazing sleek rose-gold packaging. The highlighter is a great one if you’re more of a subtle highlight loving gal though if you layer it over another product in this collection than it is possible to get that highlight from space effect if you want.

The blush shade is a stunning coral shade that has been shot through with gold reflective shimmer. It’s very similar to both Nars Orgasm and Sleek’s Rose Gold Blush. Personally I found this shade very summery in colour so I would have preferred a more warm shade for the winter months.

Eyeshadow wise you get 4 shimmer shades, two satin and 2 mattes and all of them bar the sixth shade in the images above are highly pigmented and blend out beautifully. The sixth shade I personally found to be slightly chalky and had a lot of fallout when you go to blend it out on the eyes. It’s a palette with one dude unfortunately.

As I mentioned above, it is possible to get the highlight from space effect with the highlighter available in the palette if you layer over this highlighter from the same collection. This is the Glow Stick in the shade C01 Fashion Fash and it is a cream highlighter that gives a nice subtle glow on the cheeks.

Packaging wise it comes in this amazing rose gold triangle twist up tube, similar to the packaging of the Hourglass Stick Foundation. Texture wise I would compare it to that of a buttery lipstick. It is not chunky and has no glitter in it at all-just a nice luminous shimmer. I found it worked really well over foundation as it didn’t move it around at all and it also blended out beautifully.

This retailed for 5.50 euros which considering the quality of it and the packaging really isn’t that much of a pain to fork over for it.

Last two products that I have from the collection are both lip products and the first is the Eye and Lip Pencil in the shade C02 Violet for VICTOR-y. Now this product does say eye and lip meaning you could use it as an eyeliner if you wish but I personally found it too hard to use as an eyelid liner. When I popped it into the waterline it seemed to just disappear it nothing so I do recommend that you just ignore the eye part of the pencil.

On the lips however this pencil is amazing. Highly pigmented with a velvet texture to it. This makes it both hard and soft enough to get that perfect outline on the lips. I did find it to be a bit drying by the end of the day but that said I find some of my MAC Cosmetics Lip liners to be drying by the end of the day too.

Price wise this is only 3.50 euros and I believe it is available in another shade called C01 Glided Glitz.

There are I believe 2 lipstick shades in this collection and the second one is a red, and with me owning so many red lipsticks within my collection, I honestly couldn’t justify another one so I went with this dark violet shade. It also goes with the lip pencil above so it seemed like the smart choice.

This shade is called C01 Un-Conventional Violet and it’s very much a matte finish lipstick that looks amazing when layered over the lip pencil above. Though it’s matte this lipstick is not drying whatsoever and has amazing lasting power on the lips too. I found because it has a more hydrating formulation than the lip liner, when they’re layered together it stops the lip pencil from drying out the lips.

This collection is limited edition and as far as I know will only be available up until mid-November so if you want it, it’s best to try and get it fast.

Essence “& the Lovely Little Things” Trend Edition

I’m a little bit late with this trend edition this month as I was away on holidays when it launched mid August but as far as I know it’s still available until the end of September. This trend edition is called “& the lovely little things” and it’s  capsule collection of three eyeshadow palettes, 2 lip balms, 4 nail polishes, nail file, nail stickers and a gorgeous contour, blush and highlight palette. The only thing I don’t have from the collection for this review today is the nail polishes but I will insert HD Images at the end just so you guys can see the colours available.

Lets start with my favourite from the collection and that’s the lip balms. Both of these lip balms are the exact formulation wise. They only differ with their scents and outer packaging. The pink tube is called 01…& you smile and it has a strawberry scent to it while the peach one is called 02…& we kissed and you guessed it, it has a peach scent to it.

The formulation of these lip balms is absolutely lovely. Very hydrating and just the right amount of slip to them for them to go onto the lips smoothly. Out of the two I personally have been using the pink one but only because I prefer the scent of strawberries over peaches. Highly recommend these as they are very handbag friendly and great for on the go.

For the eyes, this collection has three different eyeshadow palettes. Each palette has seven shadows and a brush/sponge applicator. They all don’t have a mirror because the lids have cute designs added to them. Personally I would have liked a slide out mirror from the bottom but that’s only because I think all eyeshadow palettes should come with a mirror.

Two of the three palettes would be considered on the warmer side of things colour wise. They have very neutral and earthy tones as their eyeshadow shades. The texture of the shadows in all of the palettes is buttery soft but I did find the some of the lighter shades barely had any pigmentation to the point where I had to swatch them using the sponge applicator in order for me to show you the colour of it.

The matte shades are also more powdery than the shimmer shades but to be honest on the eyes both formulations blend out beautifully and last quite a good while on the eyes. The first of the palettes is called 01…& my BFF on the phone and it has 6 matte shades and one shimmer shade.

The second palette is called 02…& the love story with my wardrobe. It has 6 shimmery shades and one matte shade.

Last palette is probably what would be called the smoky palette from the collection and it’s called 03…& our secret date at midnight. Eyeshadow wise it has three mattes and four shimmers.

This collection does contain a face palette and it’s called 01…& my crazy family. This palette has two gorgeous blush shades, two highlighters and two contouring shades. I love everything bar the contouring shades.

Formulation and texture wise all of them are super soft and smooth, with minimum powder kickback. My issue with the contour shades is that they’re just a tad bit warm for using as contour, they’re more suited as bronzers but other than that it’s very much a gorgeous palette.

The final products from the collection are all nail products and they include a cute double side nail file which is excellent at filing nails, some nail stickers which you have the option of using either on your nails or to enhance the packaging of the palettes by popping them on and four beautiful shades of nail polish which I’ve added HD Images of below.

Let me know what your favourite product is from the collection 🙂

Essence “I Want Candy” Collection 🍓🍬 🍉

At the end of June I posted an overview post on the latest launch from Essence Cosmetics and that is their I Want Candy collection which happens to be in collaboration with Chupa Chups Lollipops. I will link the overview post below so you can see what else is available in the release but for this post I have a few of the products from the collection to talk about.

As you can probably guess from a collaboration that features lollipops everything is very colourful from the packaging to the actual products. An added bonus is that fact that almost everything in this collection is also scented and the main scents are strawberry, watermelon and cola. All of these scents are actually the popular flavours of Chupa Chups Lollipops (my fav is actually cola 😋).

Probably the product almost everyone asked me about when I posted my overview post on the collection is the Scent Shimmer Pearls Blush in the shade 01 I Want It All! I can finally report back that this blush is as good as it appears to be. It’s got high pigmentation, great blendability and tends to falter most skin tones as it goes on almost a soft peach shade.

The only thing I didn’t like with this blush was the scent, it’s meant to be the same as a Strawberry Cream Chupa Chup Lolly but I personally found that the scent was a bit too artificial and so it didn’t translate to me as such. This blush has a retail price of 4.40 euros.

The next main product that I have is the eyeshadow palette called 01 I don’t care, I  Lolly! This palette has four really pretty pastel shades. Two of them are shimmers and two are satin finish. For me, I found that the satin ones had a bit more pigmentation and blended a lot easier on the eyelid than the shimmer.

With regards to the scent of this palette, I think they got the strawberry scent spot on. It wasn’t artificial like the blush and it was also very subtle, meaning you only really smell it when you open up the palette. This I like because to be honest who wants strawberry smelling eyelids 😆

The last makeup item that I have from the collection is their Lolly Dots Eyeliner in the shade 01 Dot it All. I have to say this is probably my favourite product from the collection. The most unique thing about is definitely it’s applicator. The tip of is shaped into three dots with the dots getting smaller as you move up the tip.

This makes it great for creating unique eyeliner designs on the eye. It also makes it easier to map out your eyeliner shape by dotting it out before using the eyeliner pen on it’s side to create a flawless flick. Charlotte Tilbury adopts this technique and uses it on almost all her clients so there’s no reason why we shouldn’t either.  Pigmentation of this eyeliner is also super black and it dries down to a high shine glossy finish which personally reminds me of the shininess of the plastic wraps of the Chupa Chups Lollies.

Let’s move on to some fun nail products, with these three amazing nail polishes. Each of the polishes has it’s own unique scent, but I don’t recommend you try to smell it from the bottle…..(yes, I did learn that the hard way.) The scent really only appears once the polish is dry on the nails. My favourite out of the three has got to be the Cola Scented polish which is a nice summery duck egg blue called 02 I want Cola!

These polishes are slightly smaller in size than Essence’s normal polishes and I really think that’s simply because they are limited edition and part of a collection. The polishes do vary with each other with the amount of coats of each one you need to apply but they all have amazing colour pay-off and dry super quick. The pink shade is strawberry scented and is called 01 I want Strawberry!

You do need to work a bit with these polishes due to their smaller size, it also means they have a thinner brush. The thin brush is great for precision but it also means you need at least three strokes of it to cover the entire nail with polish. The turquoise shade is called 03 I want Watermelon!

These polishes retail for 1.90 euros a piece. There is also some cute nail stickers as part of this collection (also cola scented) and they are 1.60 euros and last really well especially if you pop on a thick layer of top coat over them.

Those are all the products that I have from this super fun collection. Let me know what you’re planning on getting from it & also what your favourite flavour of Chupa Chups lolly is 😀
