Just before Christmas I was lucky enough to be contacted by Bryt Skincare who happen to have just launched in Ireland after been hugely successful over in the UK. I have to say I’ve been following them on Twitter and Instagram and they seem to be exploding over here in Ireland as well and with good reason. Their products are very aesthetically pleasing and are made with good ingredients that make for great skincare.
The product that I was sent from them to try is their Calm Serum. This is a serum specifically formulated for those of use who have combination to oily skin. I have normal/combo skin depending on the season. It’s mid-winter so I’m suffering from a bit of dryness. The serum comes in a pressurized pump that holds 30mls of product. I like that there’s a clear section were you can see the product through the packaging. I also like that you can see how much you’ve used of it because the dispenser moves up as you use the serum.
The serum does have a milky white colour to it but it does not create any cast when it’s applied to the skin. The formulation of it is so nice as I found really hydrating and moisturising on the skin. When you first apply it onto the skin it has a lovely cooling effect so I love using this in morning the most. The best thing that I found with this serum is that normally when I’m nearing that time of the month I get a pimple or two and since using this serum as part of my skincare routine it has stopped me from having them. Aptly named it has calmed my skin quite a bit since using it.
I should mention that though the serum feels soft and cooling on the skin, once it’s absorbed it does leave behind a tacky residue. These can’t be sorted by using your favourite moisturiser on top of it. I don’t recommend using this as a primer because I found that foundation doesn’t sit well on top it because of that tacky residue that it leaves behind.
This serum does contain Jasmine and Rose absolute so it does have a floral scent to it. It’s not over powering though but I thought I should mention it because I know some people don’t like to use products that have a scent to it. The scent is natural though and comes from the ingredients, not an artificial scent.
The Bryt Skincare range is available in most pharmacies around Ireland and is growing by the day. For online retailers try BeautyBoutique.ie 🙂
