Revlon Lip Butters

I promised in my Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks review that I would do a review on the Revlon Lip Butters and I don’t want to rush this review as I do own quite a few colours from the range. I own seven in total and some I purchased, two were given to me as presents from relatives and ironically those two are me least favourite haha!

I think I’ll start with my favourite shade from the range and that is 025 Peach Parfait. This shade isn’t to everybody tastes I know but for me it’s the perfect peachy lip for the summer. I literally wear this every time summer comes around and want something soft on the lips. The colour itself is this soft peach with silver shimmer running through it. Because of the shimmer this can make your lips look plumper and fuller if that’s the look you’re going for.

Packaging wise they come in a metal applicator that has a black base with the brand name written in silver across it. All the lids are in the same colour as the lipstick which I love and to add to that they made the tops of the lids clear so you can see the actual lipstick itself through the packaging. The lid also has this nice pretty quilted effect on two sides out of the four. All in all very nice packaging for the price that these are sold for.

The second shade is a very popular YouTube and beauty blogger shade. Basically YouTube made me do it lolz 😛 . The shade is 035 Candy Apple and it’s your typical sheer orange red colour. This shade is one of the more pigmented out of the range and I think that’s down to the fact that it is red shade.

In comparison to the shade 025 Peach Parfait this one has no shimmer in it so the colour you see is the colour you get on your lips. I personally don’t wear this shade a lot because I prefer my reds to be matte and darker and bolder (MAC Russian Red).

Another one of my favourites is the shade 027 Juicy Papaya and this shade is basically 025 Peach Parfait just without the shimmer. And sometimes I want the peachy shade without have to worry about the shimmer being to reflective. I prefer this shade when my lips are feeling dry because the shimmer in 025 Peach Parfait can sometimes cling to the dry patches.

Formulation wise these are very sheer when applied, what colour you choose will determine the pigmentation you get. Basically the darker colours give more pigmentation and the lighter colours give less so you don’t get much pigmentation. The texture of these lippies are in between a balm and a lipstick. They’re super hydrating and moisturising.

Nude shades from this range are the lighter colours and like I said don’t give much pigmentation. The shade that I own is 095 Crème Brulee and this is a light caramel shade. If your a fan of MAC Teddy lipstick but don’t want it to be so bold or matte then this is a great alternative to that same colour.

These lipsticks last roughly around 4 hours on the lips without food or drink. The minute you eat or place anything near your lips expect there to be nothing left. Their one downfall is that they don’t dry down, they remain glossy which means on windy days…hair can stick to your lips…not fun! I personally only use these in the summer when there really is no wind and just sun 🙂 .

I have one more favourite shade but I’ll leave that till the end so I can end on a high note with this post because I really do love these lippies. These next two however I don’t and it’s not because of anything but because of the colour that they are. I don’t do pink lipstick unless it’s super sheer. I was given these two lip butters as a gift on my birthday from a releative but she honestly doesn’t no my taste and got me two pink colours…

First up is 080 Strawberry Shortcake which is simply put bubblegum pink! Not for me at all. I don’t like it, it doesn’t suit my skin tone or my style makeup wise. I like it when I really sheer it out or apply a different coloured lip liner underneath it and apply it more like a balm over the lip liner.

Moving on from the bubblegum pink to the neon pink shade. This second shade that I’m not a fan of is called 053 Sorbet. Same texture and formulation as 027 Juicy Papaya just a bit darker and more pigmented than 080 Strawberry Shortcake. I like it a bit better than strawberry shortcake but only because it’s got a slight berry tone to it that makes it slightly more faltering on my skin tone.

Speaking of berry tones this last shade is one that hits the perfect berry tone lipstick goal. This lip butter is called 050 Berry Smoothie and much like peach parfait it has a slight shimmer running through it.

The shimmer however is a bit more iridescent than that of peach parfait and slightly more chunky making it a bit of a tough one to pull of if you suffer from really dry lips. If you have nice lips (lucky you) and like shades like this than I highly recommend.

These are my thoughts on the Revlon Lip Butters and what I think. I absolutely love these for when you want something like, hydrating and with a bit of colour on the lips. The cost 10.49 euros and Revlon tends to do 2 for 16 euros offers on these a lot in Boots. Does anyone have a favourite Lip Butter..?
