Lip oils seem to be popping up everywhere these days and I mean everywhere and to be honest I don’t mind because after last summer with the release of Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils I have been looking for some cheaper versions and haven’t been lucky until now. I am going to be reviewing the different versions that I have been able to locate from the drugstore soon. Those brands include Catrice, BarryM and Essence Cosmetics. Though if I do find more I will of course add to this project. At the end of this project I will properly do a big massive comparison post of all of the lip oils that I try out and let you know which one in my opinion is my favorite. To keep things classy, I think it only makes sense that I kick things off with a review of my Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils that I bought last summer.
Packaging, beautiful! I mean it is Clarins and Clarins is high end so I would expect nothing less. The oil comes in this very nice sturdy acrylic tube and the lid/applicator has this very luxurious gold lid that has the traditional C for Clarins indented in a slant cut-away on the lid. I like the applicator of this lip oil as well because it’s like a jumbo size doe-foot applicator which is perfect for covering the entire lip area in one swipe.
The actual formulation of the product is nice and thick which makes it very hydrating and moisturizing on the lips. I don’t like this for pre-lipstick hydration because it just doesn’t absorb quick enough into the lips so it makes the lipstick slide around and bleed. I personally use this product at night before I go to bed because it absorbs over night. I wake up the next morning with nice plump hydrated lips.
I have two shades within the Lip Comfort Oil range. The first is the shade 01 Honey and this is my least favorite of the two because I don’t really like the scent of honey however I will happily put up with it. It’s not a horrible smell it’s just not one I would choose personally. The second shade is 02 Raspberry and this was released as a Limited Edition shade last year however I’m pretty sure (Please don’t quote me on this) that it’s being released this year as part of the permanent range.
This year they have also released a new shade in 03 Red Berry and to be honest I don’t know if I’ll be picking up this shade as it’s colour is very similar to that of 02 Raspberry. These retail for 19 euros each and you get 7mls of product in each tube. Let me know what you guys think of this new project of mine and Lip oils in general 🙂
